- Great snippet from Jim Kingshott’s mortice and tenon video.
Fully explains the concept of drawboring
This is a process I still teach today and one of the best ways to achieve quality carpentry and joinery woodworking joints.
Particularly effective in stairmaking
I LOVE JIM KINGSHOTT VIDEOS😁😁😁👍👍👍
I could watch Mr Kingshott all day. 🪚
I love watching and listening to Jim Kingshott! Have you ever heard of Donn Fahnestock? I found some VHS tapes on WorldCat, but no the library was not willing to loan them. I had never heard of him before, nor have I seen any video of him. He did video of Framing Joints, Carcase Joints, and Handplanes. Danbury, CT : Fine Tools, ©1985. I hope you can get ahold of these and see if they are good.
Thanks for this info! I will find something! Watch this space..
Believe it or not.... 😭 What! Why!! 😅 Love seeing these
Love these! ❤
How old are the videos and where was his shop?
JIM ❤
Glad you like them! The videos are from 1995, and Jim was based in Deepcut, Surrey.
It also can crush the hole in the tenon and elongate it spoiling the entire effect -- especially true if the tenon shoulders are already a light-tight fit against the mortise piece. Get the shoulders to be a tight fit, then just glue and pin the joint -- no need to drawbore and risk elongating the hole and the tenon piece backing out over time.
