I remember working that hard and gaining the respect of the older journeymen over time . That was the best feeling in the world!

3rd generation carpenter/ furniture maker here. Had a handicapped son and had to find a really big company for health insurance and moved into IT. The recent downturn has decimated IT and many lost their jobs- I took "early" retirement. Since our son is no longer with us, I have recently just went back to my original craft and put on a tool belt again. Just like riding a bike and VERY fulfilling to be building again! I may try to find an apprentice since I could not pass my skills to my own child. Thanks for the video, neat to get an idea of what my dad and them went through.

Thank you for sharing this, I’m obviously very sorry to hear some of it, but happy that you’re finding it so fulfilling again.. what kind of things are you making?

I imagine this was played in schools. It is filled with good information for young kids whether for woodworking or any life choice. It seems like all of this wisdom has been lost.
