Some of us worked out heavy while we were young. I destroyed some of my joints over that time but still try to stay active and do what my body lets me. I saw a comment that said age is just a number. There is a reason professional athletes are all in their 20s and early 30s so we all need to use some reality here we won’t be as fit as we were at 25…unless any of us were a mess at that age. Stay strong and never give up though!
I’m 61, work out 7 days a week for 2-3 hours each day. I strength train every day and that helps reduce my aches and pains. I have arthritis but I ignore it and work through it.
I'm on the same path, I've built muscle for the first time in my life ! Just turned 60! It took about 5 months, following Caroline Girvan on RUclips. I lost masses of body muscle due to menopause, now not only returned muscle and fascia but built more muscle than I've ever had! Yes had to increase protein, every meal is protein now !
I wish I could do the same. I am 50 but feel 70. Even my mum who is 85 is not as weak as I am.... I am not overweight... My BMI is less than 20. Great information. I will follow this plan.
I would suggest taking a very close look at your diet. What do you eat? Is it mostly carbs - bread, pasta, grains, granola, potatoes, etc, sugary drinks and sweet desserts, processed food? If so that could be doing many things from increasing inflammation to causing Insulin Resistance which can be draining and make you feel weak. I had a high A1C five years ago and my doc prescribed the Ketogenic Diet. I lost 75 pounds in less than a year by only changing my diet. Everything got better and is still improving. I mean everything - digestion, elimination, sleeping, energy, etc, etc. I am so glad my doc gave me diet instead of pills. If you are a reader the best source I found was The Ketogenic Bible and if you are not a reader DrKenBerryMD has a "course" on keto in his playlists. Once you lose weight, rid yourself of inflammation, prevent high glucose and insulin resistance then you will feel much more like getting in shape. Up to you of course. Always is. Good luck.
Go for it. I've been doing all these suggestions for the last 10 months (mainly by following advice on this You Tube channel and some others). I'm 66 and I'm fitter and healthier than I was at 46.
I bought the book and found it helpful. I'm 78 years old but have been very active, but I like to develop a routine more appropriate for my age. Thanks for your clips
I'm 70 at the end of next month, and I do standing and chair squats, pressups and some weights, walking and Parkrun (when dry) with general stretching.
Excellent Easy Targeted exercises... A new content creator at 60, chanced upon ur vlog, very delighted. Doing these resistance excercise with my mom now. Will monitor the 4 mth results. Thankyou for your impactful tutorial. 👍😊🙏 God Bless.
Love your videos, still following along and now enjoying your brilliant book too. This was a nice concise mini course to have a go at and will definitely attempt to implement it. I was particularly pleased with your nutritional advice and for a future video would love greater detail on how to achieve that, with calculations and suggested food choices if you are able. I do appreciate it's not your main area being a Physio. Also, expanding the 'sets' info. would be useful. Keep going Will, you deserve your success.
Thank you for purchasing my book, I'm thrilled to hear you're enjoying it! Thank you for your suggestions too, I have added them to my list of future video recommendations. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 😄

Very many thanks.

I usually park further away where it's easier to find a parking spot when shopping (for the extra walk), and I try not to use a shopping trolley unless absolutely necessary (I bring my own shopping baskets). I also hang my washing indoors, so I bring my clothes (1 or 2 items at a time) from the washing machine to the clothes airer instead of using a laundry basket. P.S. I got my copy of Thriving Beyond Fifty yesterday afternoon (a 10-minute walk in the CBD from my car to the Amazon locker on my way home). Should be a good read for the weekend!
Great work - actions, little and often, all add up. Thank you for ordering my book, I hope you find it packed full of interesting and valuable information!
I just turned 65 years old ,female, lifting weights since my late forties and have no issue with my health ( eating healthy, no alcohol or smoking) as a side effect of having this lifestyle comes the fact that you look at least 15 years younger 🏋️♂️

I just found your channel this evening and I quickly hit the subscribe button and ordered your book Thriving Beyond Fifty. I can’t wait to get it and read it. I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis of the left hip (right hip was replaced in 2016) and osteopenia of the spine. I really want to workout on a rebounder (mini trampoline). What are your thoughts about this for a woman in my situation? I am 72 y.o., 5’5” and weigh 130 pounds with no other health issues. Your opinion would be appreciated. Thanks, Will. I look forward to watching your videos and educating myself further.

I love your channel! Thank you! I'm over 70 and recently have been getting severely painful neck spasms in the muscle on the left side, back of my neck and the pain goes up into my skull about 2 inches. This occurs when I bend my neck to look down, usually at about a 90degree angle. So far it's not lasted longer than 10 minutes. It's just overwhelming the amount of potential exercises that I should be doing and I know I don't get enough exercise due to other issues. Do you have any kind of head or shoulder stretches or exercises that might help this? ♥♥
I have just found your you tube channel and I am really enjoying your videos, thanks so much for all the content! This one is particularly interesting for me as a woman of 59 I am not sure whether I am having enough protein and am eating enough. I am going to the gym and have a few issues my knee and my shoulder. I wondered what your views on suplementing with protein powder and using creatine? Thanks
I started weight training in my early 40’s but after menopause I noticed a drastic and rapid decline in my strength due to the loss of testosterone. (Women lose testosterone not just female sex hormones). I’m 57 now and have been on HRT for over a year and I too am stronger than ever. But I needed sufficient levels of hormons. I wish someone talked more about the hormonal aspects of muscle mass and strength.
Thanks this has given me some drive. I run or cycle every day and don’t do enough S&C. My body is aching and tight and I definitely do eat enough protein! I’m going to give this a go and also eat a lot more protein and see if it helps my running 😊
Why do organizations like the British Heart Foundation still recommend small amounts of protein (45g for women)? It is very confusing. Many people think they get too much protein!
Terrific video, as always! Thanks Ole Man! Increase in protein is not that simple for a vegetarian and also takes time for the digestive system to adjust. How do you recommend we increase protein to the required level? Best wishes

Age is just a number. At 61, my basic exercises are (L-sit) pull ups, weighted dips and squats. Being older doesnt mean you are weak and frail :)
Age is NOT a number! As we age, our internal organs start to decay and it’s irreversible.
