    Worked for USX 6.5 yrs back in the late 90's. Everything was 1500 to 3000 mile runs. Panasonic from Wa to FL or VA Then a load back to Cali or Salt lake A crappy week was 3k miles & are trucks did 70 & we logged the speed limit.
    Don't want to bring anyone down but I made $1,200 to $1,300 a week OTR back in 2000. driving for USX at 32 cpm.
    Guess what the cost of living in 2000 was?.
    OTR is BS now. E-Logs & micromanaged trucks. Screw that, I do 200 miles a day local now & I'm payed by the hour & banked $2,891 my last 2 weeks doing a little over 2k miles . OT is $ 37.50 an hour & every friday is OT day. 8 paid holidays 3 sick & 3 PTO's for another $2,800 a year.
    Get a year or 2 in and see the country & then tell these meatgrinders to piss off & find a local gig & have a life. Don't wait 20yrs like I did.

    I did the Walmart dedicated for USX for 5 years during the peak season (Oct-Dec) I ran the accounts in TX, PA, IN, OH... Never made less than a grand a week

    All Walmart runs are drop and hook. I'm a driver for US xpress and they don't stress you out about getting the load there. And the loads are mostly around 38 or less in the box.

    thats it 1100... im local and i made more than that , working 65 hours and sleep in my bad every night. so whats the point to be over the road? i did it for 2 years and i made more than 1300 every week and i thought it was not enough, sleep 2 weeks out for that kinda of money... go local with a good company and you made 1000 week or moore. every night home...

      U gained 2 years of experience so as the reason you have a sweet local. Otr is not permanent for the majority of drivers. As long as he's good with what he's making and the situation surrounding his personal life, than that's all that matters. Why can't we all just be happy for the man and stop comparing income

  • @gregl211

    I got royally screwed. I did this exact thing at the Auburn, IN DC mostly delivering to the Detroit Walmarts. I was paid $165 daily flat rate without any stop pay. I didn't sign on for dedicated and was screwed out of money I could have been making OTR, not to mention having to work non-stop my entire 14 hour clock supervising the unloading as well as of course driving. I quickly figured out they were holding me prisoner, so I requested home time and then quit. Probably they wanted to get rid of me? I was so stupid I continued to do my job well. I'd like to say I shouldn't have cared if the deliveries were successful, but that's not my nature.

      Greg L damn. Thanks for sharing that experience. I like other people to share their sides of these jobs so people can decide for themselves. Sorry it went bad for you like that. Hope all is well now. Stay safe out there.

    • @akeishaharjo7729
      @akeishaharjo7729 4 года назад

      Greg L I was offered the home daily since I’m here in auburn what can you tell me about it they are telling me it’s $1400 and 70,000 a year is this true because I don’t wanna waste my time if I’m making less then 900 a week

    • @gregl211
      @gregl211 4 года назад

      @@akeishaharjo7729 I was OTR sent to cover loads there. It was either because they were short-staffed or it was during peak times. Also apparently I was screwed out of stop pay I should have been getting. I don't know what the pay structure is for dedicated, but with the higher driver pay rates these days what they quoted is probably accurate. Make sure you're informed about how the job pays. Don't just accept a general statement: $1,400/$70,000. Another big question is, are they going to keep you running and give you the opportunity to make consistent daily runs so you can earn the $70,000 a year. Look for usx tractors pulling Walmart trailers and ask the drivers what it was like when they first starting working at that location. I'd be willing to bet you'll be okay in a dedicated Walmart position with usx, but the loads may be the less desirable ones when you first start working there since you're the new guy. You definitely shouldn't do OTR or regional with usx. Most every time I talk to drivers at truck stops it's not a good story, and it wasn't for me. Keep us posted. I hope it goes well for you.

    "super easy." Not hardly. You arrive at the WM store, wait for someone to open the delivery check-in door - sometimes having to walk around the building the front entrance and find someone to unload you - that could waste a half-hour, wait for someone to unload you and hope they're not lazy, figure out what's wrong with the pallets that the DC screwed up, and of course the whole time you're praying the refer unit works properly and doesn't malfunction. The only "easy" thing about this is you're running at night and don't have to deal with as much traffic
