This video was shot on the day the biggest blizzard in history hit New York/JFK (The Blizzard of 2010). The JFK was shut down for nearly day and half that left thousands of pax stranded. Incidentally, this Emirates A380 was the first flight to take off once the airport was opened the following morning.
Flight Details -
We take off from JFK at 6am for a 13 hour flight to Dubai. We land at Dubai at 3:20am (local time).
Much of the entire flight 13 hour flight was in the dark! We were served a meal upon departure and the crew went by closing all the window shades. Most of the passengers slept the entire way or watched theit TVs, it was really quiet.
Personally, I never really saw daylight! I did sleep for 5-6 hours in between and by the time I woke up, it was dark again. Anyways on this video here, you will see -

Westbound from Dubai to JFK and the entire flight is during daylight.
The experience of the two is quite different. On that video I have a complete upper and lower deck cabin walk thru, different views out of the different sections of the aircraft as well a comparison of the different noise levels in different parts of the plane.

The business class on emirates looks brilliant ... better than first class with some airlines
it reminded my flight of the boeing 747 flew economy class with my family good experience my brother loves airlplanes

I fly during winters and my main hubs for my international flights are Chicago and JFK. Avoid Chicago during winters as I have had very bad luck with weather and cancelled flights. JFK gets cold but since its close to the ocean - the amount of snow is not so bad. Starting from 2012, I will be flying out of the west coast and I hope yo bring you more fun trip reports. Cheers

Ive tried business class in A380 and those very old planes back 10 years ago. Only space is the issue, but the load of goodies in the A380 are so worth it :)

I guess the electronics need Wi-fi.When I was in emirates,i was told to put my I pad away.The video camera doesn't affect Wi fi so i guess thats the whole reason

I am sharing the experience with 1600 of my subscribers. I am not "showing off" anything. Plus this was a free upgrade. I wouldnt mind going on a boat either...I do a similar video on traveling on a boat...if i had a chance.

Why do u keep flying to JFK?
Is it just me or was that touchdown (see it just after 12:00 ) a little premature? He touched down just at the beginning of the green threshold bar! Normally touchdowns are around the touchdown zone furthur past the threshold. I have see these kind of landings a lot with the A380. Is this because they are trying to squeeze out every last centimeter of the available runway?

Well the fact that you pay over 2000 Dollars/Pounds per person the food on the bar is free Emirates ain't no Budget airline that you can buy food on board with.

Wow. Not like any flight I've ever been on. Of course, I don't think I've ever flown on a double decker jet and didn't realize what that upper deck was for. So what did that business class ticket cost? And, pray tell, what would a first-class ticket cost? I'd love to visit Dubai (I think), but given the state of the dollar these days I doubt it will ever happen, and it certainly won't happen with a first- or even business-class ticket. I'd just sit with the tightly packed peasants below deck.

The 747 is better than the a380 for fuel consumption and speed the a380 takes an extra 45minutes from Sydney to Los Angeles
Actually the A380 has better fuel economy than the B747. Around 10% better to be precise. It's also faster, more powerful and can carry more passengers in greater comfort. Probably the reason the airline has given a longer flight time is because of seasonal weather conditions en route.
The A380 wastes so much MORE fuel because it is slow and heavy
The A380 consumes around 2.9L of fuel per passenger per 100km, compared to the B747-400 fuel consumption of around 3.2L per passenger per 100km. That equates to around 1415L per 100km for the A380 overall and 1447L per 100km overall for the B747-400. So they are fairly evenly matched in overall fuel economy but the A380 can carry around 26% more passengers than the B747-400, meaning the A380 is an overall more efficient aircraft. It is also faster: A380 cruise speed is around 945km/h compared to B747-400 at 913km/h. Heavy isn't necessarily a bad thing either.
