I wasn't very interested in learning Japanese before but it sounds so cool it makes me want to try learning it. I am between Korean or Japanese. I already speak Spanish and English so I want to learn a third language because it is so amazing to be able to speak multiple languages and communicate with different people.
Paola Itzel I think learning languages is always an asset !!! Both are good and both have their difficult and easier points (: because you already speak two, you might be faster in picking up a new one !!
This may sound odd but Japanese feels really really nice to say. Especially the causative-passive forms. I've been learning it for almost three years and my Japanese classes have been the highlight of my university experience.
Paola Itzel I also speak English and Spanish, when I entered college I needed 2 years of language for my major and decided with Korean since I like kpop and stuff. It's very fun and it's not that hard, coming from someone who had no past Korean experience other than listing to kpop.
I'm so glad to her someone speaking Japanese (not as their first language) because I'm learning too and on duolingo they speak SO FAST! Lol but I'm getting better at following that speed with practice. Anyway, it's nice to hear you speak it with the pauses and all because it still sounds good and natural even though it's not at the speed of light lol. I just worried that my slower speaking would sound weird, but I see that that's not necessarily the case. Also, that's why seeing others who have learned the language can be so helpful. They often don't speak as quickly as natives and can be understood better. Whew! Long comment lol 😅
I hate to break it to you, lol but her speaking speed doesn’t really doesn’t sound that natural... I’ve been studying the language for 6 years. After a couple of years of relatively slow listening practice you should be able to recognize accents and unnatural speaking. This is just in my experience. She does speak extremely slow, and if there were not a video or subtitles I would probably have a hard time keeping up with the topic of each sentence, especially since her grammar is a little off. There’s a lot of struggling and emotional ups and downs involved in Japanese but it’s worth it. Now I listen to a lot of political podcasts in Japanese and read news articles because it was worth it and that’s what I wanted to do. To improve your listening you need to listen to native Japanese speakers, Duolingo is slow and sometimes the pronunciation is off too, so listen to natives even if you don’t understand it. If you want to know any good resources for learning just let me know I’ll tell you what I used.
Deep Mirage Deep Mirage I didn't mean natural for natives, I just meant that it sounds good enough for a person speaking it as a learned language. Yeah she has tons of pauses, but for someone who is at my stage of learning, it's a good speed. I don't even know almost of the things she talked about in this video. And duolingo isn't my only resource for learning Japanese, I just used it as an example. I don't know if your comment was supposed to be like you patting your own back about having been learning for six years or whatever, but hearing others who are learning the language can still be helpful in language learning. I'm sure you've done very well with your Japanese, but I'm not there yet. AND I still think she did a good job, considering that I don't know the rules of Japanese grammar and all.
I love when people learn multiple languages. I think it's such a beautiful to learn multiple languages. I personally know 3 dialects of chinese, english, french and a bit of spanish so I think it's amazing. Always great content on your RUclips channel!
Yu Ling Zeng me too !!! Wow three dialects of Chinese that’s so very cool ! I’m happy you liked this one yu 💓 thank you for taking your time to watch !!!
I can tell you are a little bit nervous, but if you work on your fluency/fluidity of your Japanese and what accent you want to focus on, it would sound even better 🤗
Katie Bounkeovisane hahaha yesss I was so nervous and I didn’t practice for this video or script anything at all XD I feel like I should’ve been more prepared haha ty for the tips !! I always pause a lot when I’m speaking cuz I try to find the right words T T
I think it's truly amazing to know multiple languages. My native language is Portuguese, I studied english fpr a while, enough to hold a conversation and now I'm trying to learn korean. More than language, learning new alphabets I think is amazing. Congratulations on your japanese!!!
I'm in the middle of learning Japanese right now, and am almost done learning the pronunciation, writing, and lettering characters of Hiragana, I have a mac application called Human Japanese, that I am using to learn, it is very much like your book your friend had; however I have to use a notebook to practice the characters on. You sound so good, I can't wait to get to your level of speaking Japanese. I wanted to learn because of all the anime characters they show that don't get translated, and also for all the anime that is out there I must be missing out on. Thank you for sharing your learning process, props to you Nami!
i am on an exchange program here in Japan, and have learnt plenty of Japanese. It actually quite frustrates me the fact that i can understand quite a big percentage of it, but communication itself is a little hard for me(creating sentences for example.) . Maybe its just a thing of practice. I love your videos Nami! keep it Up!
i think a lot of people have that problem when learning languages. you can understand what other people are saying, but have trouble saying things yourself. my advice is to try to communicate even with mistakes, and have japanese speakers correct you so you will not make those mistakes next time. hellotalk is a good app you can use, it allows you to speak with natives.
You're doing great. You're much farther along than me. I just started studying Japanese with RosettaStone a few months ago, and I can barely put together a few coherent complete sentences! lol Best wishes!
Hello Rational Panda, Thanks for sharing & for the kind words. You'll get there! Learn at your own pace, n keep on practicing. Hope your studies are going well. Take care, Hebbs
Yay thanks for this video! I've been self studying Japanese for around four years now but it's been on and off because of school TT I started to learn Japanese because of a song by one of favorite singer's YUI. That song by her really helped during that time in my life and encouraged me as well. I wanted to understand that song and all her other songs as well so I started to learn Japanese I don't regret my decision at all because I discovered my passion for languages and cultures through learning Japanese :)
One more thing to add if anyone is studying Japanese I recommend the channel Japanese Ammo With Misa she's a native Japanese teacher and she's amazing!
Yazmin omg !!! I really love yui’s goodbye days !!! I first heard that song when my friend Asuka sang it at karaoke two years ago and then I heard it again after jimin said in an interview that that is one of his fav songs and then I watched the movie the suns song and I cried so much and I really really love the song yui sang 😭😭😭😭💘💘 hahaha sorry I ranted XD
i’m gonna start taking japanese this year and for the next five years i’ll be studying it, i want to be fluent and be able to converse in japanese like you can!! this video is motivating and inspiring me a lot, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences of learning japanese, it helps a lot 💞
It's the best "How i learned Japanese" video in RUclips! It's really helpful and it's not boring! It's second video i watched from you, and i think i broke subscribing button 😂 i like your videos, i will watch all of them 😍❤
Can you do a video in Korean? I’ve always wanted to learn a new language and Korean really interests me. But I need to know how to study and what books to study with. I want to start at a young age so I will know how to speak fluently when I am older. Please do a video in Korean I would be very grateful 💕
I'm at around the same level or higher I think (like between beginner and intermediate so N4-N3-ish) but I don't speak even half as well as you! It's so hard to put sentences together so it makes me happy to hear someone speaking at a similar level to me instead of being 100% perfect and super ridiculously fast lol. Also your accent is really good and sounds very natural.
Your japanese is pretty good!! Really! Other than a few grammar mistakes, it is really good! I'm trying to learn Japanese again on my own but it is hard :(
It's okay I believe in you. I taught myself Japanese in just 6 months. All I did was study 3-4hours a day when I have time and even used them in restaurants or I watched anime in japanese
I have a frustrating experience. Not knowing where to begin or hitting a plateau can feel demoralizing and make it hard to hit the books and study like you know you should…
this video was so helpful and motivated me a lot!! seeing all your notebook practiced especially made me feel better bc I got so frustrated trying to learn hiragana..
Omg your Japanese is good! Great job Nami:) "it helped me a lot" is like "watashiwa totemo tasukerareta." Btw, I'm supporting you from Japan, so I hope you keep studying Japanese from now on.
I really enjoyed your video because I've been studying Japanese from Highschool till college and I've also considered making videos in Japanese. Just hearing you speak reminds me of myself lol plus my friend's call me Nami too! 頑張りましょうね!
I can’t believe it! I remember watching this video when I first started learning Japanese a year and a half ago. I didn’t understand any of it obviously. Watching this now, I could understand so much! Even complete sentences. Sometimes it feels like I’m progressing really slow but moments like this make it worth it 🖤
This is awesome, I'm currently TRYING to study japanese, I'm only using apps at the moment, I plan to use books and teachers later when I'm more confident.. I'd love love to be able to have an actual conversation or do a video in japanese, this is inspirational af
Huge respect to you for posting a video in Japanese. I just uploaded my first one and the stress it brings is overwhelming. You should release an update!
ty Jamie 😭😭😭 I’m not sure yet which languages I want to learn next but def want to become more fluent and improve my Japanese and also my korean ! My korean is so bad LOL
NamiiCho Me I know French but that's become I am French from Canada Quebec and I know English because of school of course and I am studying Korean right now. J'espère que tu réussiras à améliorer ton Coréen et Japonais.😊
It is sooo impresive to me like, oh my god, you're so young and yet you have two children, a college/univeristy/school(I'm not sute Im sorry) degree and know almost 3 languages fluently! It is such a shoker for me! You seriously motivated me to star learning! I'm still in high school but I'd say I'm pretty fluent in english and a native Polish speaker. Polish is considered one of the toughest languages and while I'm albo really talented with foreign languages I'm thinking of studying korean and/or japanese/chinese further in my education. I'm also really into make up. All these things I love and they really fascinate me but I lack motivation to study and improve myself in these fields. You give me exactly that! You're my role model, very inteligent, smart person, wonderful human, a human I aspire to be one day. Thank you so much. Keep doing what you're doing cuz you're great at it babe! 💞
This is really cool. I'm learning japanese too and it's nice to see that even if you aren't fluent you can still communicate. I tried to watch without subtitles but I needed the English sometimes :( I hope I'll be fluent someday I hate only knowing 1 language
I'm learning japanese too lately and quite happy that I understand you just because you speak slowly and that's the way I talk too haha. Keep going Namii!
I actually plan on learning Korean, then Japanese and then Chinese..they're all such interesting languages. I've always been interested in Asian languages since we celebrated Chinese New Year in my primary school, we also learned a little about Japan and I was just in awe with it all.
I think your japanese is really good, dont be so hard to yourself ^^ I try to learn korean but I dont find the time yet and I think these tips would really help me thanks :3🌸
I love how you just thought i want to learn that, and simply did, not like a lot of other people (including me) saying that we want to learn and never do.. I do know french and english (cause im from Canada,Qc) but I really like Korean Japanese and Chinese and would reallly want to learn Mandarin~
Your Japanese is not perfect, but is still far better than my own and you doing this whole video speaking it is impressive alone! Watching this actually kinda reassured me that just because my Japanese sucks ass doesn’t mean I don’t deserve to speak it. Thanks a lot for this!
I'm getting my listening practice from you today ^O^ I'm taking Mandarin and Japanese in college right now and trying to maintain Korean outside of that.. my goodness what a wild ride language learning is!
Okay I am going to put the captions in Japanese so I can *read* it, *write* what I hear after that, then *listen* without the English subtitles, and finally REPEAT the entire video by *speaking* in Japanese I'm SO nervous. But I'm trying to learn😊❤ ありがとうございます!
As someone who is learning japanese (at an intermediate stage) this video was super helpful for listening! I go to classes atm and am using wanikani for kanji along with hello talk to talk to native speakers :) though this year all of my lessons are entirely in Japanese so it's a challenge :')
Thanks to all that anime i watched I understand without subtitles 😂 your Japanese is on point Nami 😃 love these informative videos 🙌🏻 keep em coming Nami 🙇🏻♀️😚
Bangtan Noona hahahahaha really ???? That’s so funny !! You must have really good listening ! But my grammar was so bad 😂😂😂😂😂 but let’s keep working hard hahaha
Very Impressive. This is so much like my own decision to learn Korean and Hangul. I played with so many Koreans playing Starcraft and saw Hangul everyday so I thought I should look into it. I was immediately hooked. I bought several text books and been studying ever since. I am not as good as you at Japanese but I am getting there. As a white man... just to be able to speak some phrases and know the correct grammar and spelling of sentences makes me very proud. Even just knowing the Hangul alphabet and knowing it in Alphabetical order even and all the names of the letters. That alone made me happy. Anyway point is I would write random sentences in my notebook also !!! on postets, on the back oh junk mail, in the text books, everywhere. I always write random sentences like... 저는 야채를 좋아해요, 지만 저는 피자가 먹고 싶습니다. 나는 미국인 사람입니다, 지만 저는 한국에 갑니다. Things like that. Not sure if grammar is 100 percent but I am learning. It really does feel so good just to have the stroke order down and just to practice writing ALL the letters and I imagine it feels the same to write Hiragana and Katakana !! the only thing that really and I mean really sucks is the Kanji to learn..... And you are Korean yes? So you might know a few dozen Hanja but now you need to learn 3,000 + Kanji … that sucks. That's why I was drawn to Korean. more practical and sounds better anyway. Anyway Congrats, Ur japanese sounds GREAT even though I wouldn't know at all I don't speak a lick lol. Can you tell me if my Korean sentences are grammar correct??? please? Thank you. Great video subbed. Bye.
Hey Alex! That's awesome!!! Good for you! I'm not very fluent in Korean myself but I can read it slowly. I understood what you were saying 100% but I'm not sure of the grammar was correct! You're so good though. Keep going!
Omg I've been obsessed with your channel I love it ! 💕Could you make a video about how to learn Korean? it will help me a lot ☺️☺️❤️ stay healthy and send love to your family they are so cute💕 (sorry for my English I'm from Spain)
omg i loved this video so much ! would happy to see more abt your Japanese studying and recommendations how to learn , although you said all that was important already but i just like it sm ! >///< thank you for his video !
I want to learn Japanese too.(I know how to speak Korean,Thai and Chinese) but that was a long time ago because here in our country, learning another language is like having a sin in our own country😑there are so many judgemental people here so when I am studying,I am always in my room and never interacts with some native speaker of that language.
Aaahhh I know what it’s like to learn different languages. A tip is (when you want to learn this new language) is tot listen to it A LOT. I don’t mean the grammar and vocabulary. I mean listen to the flow, pronunciation, etc. (SOMETIMES this may include intonation, but usually never) This is how I got to learn (all of which I’m not fully fluent with) Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin & partial Cantonese), Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and English. Fighting !!! 〜♡
Hebbs Park | oh of course! I love to help others with things especially when it comes to learning a new language. I take your acknowledgment to heart! Good luck!
Very nice job :) and a very informative video ^__^ ナミさんが初心者みたいんですけど、日本語は良いですね!私は4年間くらい独学で日本語を勉強して、努力したらだんだん上手くなります。聞き取りと読書を練習することが一番大事なことだと思います。Keep it up!
Thank you for that . im currently studying hiragana and katakana now. I also write it on my notebook like practise practise practise. Im doing like, i will write a i u e o many times then when i already know how to write it on hiragana, i will write it on a blank page, to test myself if i learn something. 😁 its quite hard but its fun to learn.
Hiya Nami, I know your busy with your family but I watched your video on how you learnt Japanese and I still really am stuck. I really want to learn but I just don’t know where to start and I want to get books but they are always so expensive. I live in London and speak just English but I really want to learn Japanese!! Please help me, where should I start haha 💙💙💙
ohayou nami!!! lol haha im filipino and i wanted to learn japanese, its kinda hard REALLY.i like watching vids like this to motivate me..its really hard learning japanese on your own like i cant get a private tutor or pay somethin cuz im just in highschool >.< and were not that rich lel.. BUT i hope you can help meee ATE nami ; * anyways congratss
Nami! I recently made the decision to start studying Japanese as well. Its super fun and challenging. If i may ask, where did you get that study book? I may have missed it in the video.
Ngl I thought some of the words sounded a bit like Spanish I'm pretty sure I heard además in there but I think that's just my brain trying to process a language I don't know and applying the words I know from Spanish to what I'm hearing Idk man
I'm impressed! Your intonation is a little off at certain parts of the video but you sound great overall! もうめっちゃ上手だよ! もっと自信を持って!

ty Jamie 😭😭😭 I’m not sure yet which languages I want to learn next but def want to become more fluent and improve my Japanese and also my korean ! My korean is so bad LOL
NamiiCho Me I know French but that's become I am French from Canada Quebec and I know English because of school of course and I am studying Korean right now.
J'espère que tu réussiras à améliorer ton Coréen et Japonais.😊
omg what?! sorry if its a personal question but why would you say your korean is bad?
Let Me Dream Oooh~ Moi je suis française XD
Register は「入学」でよいと思います(apply を使いたい場合は「適用する」より「申し込む」のほうが自然です)。もしオンラインの学校とかであれば「登録」と言うこともありますね。登録は subscribe の意味として使われる時と、 register の意味で使われる時の両方があるんです。勉強ノートがすごいですね! それだけ努力していれば、きっとすぐにもっとうまくなると思います。Good luck!
This is really cool. I'm learning japanese too and it's nice to see that even if you aren't fluent you can still communicate. I tried to watch without subtitles but I needed the English sometimes :( I hope I'll be fluent someday I hate only knowing 1 language
Hello Utter,
Thanks for watching! I hope your studies are going well. You'll be able to get there someday. Continuous practice!
Take care,
hebbs
I got surprised because you suddenly started about onomatopoeia which I'm teaching on my channel🤣
I'm learning japanese too lately and quite happy that I understand you just because you speak slowly and that's the way I talk too haha. Keep going Namii!
jasukan hahahahahaha I speak so slow and so bad and my grammar is bad 😂😂😂😂 I’m glad it was easy to understand tho XD
I actually plan on learning Korean, then Japanese and then Chinese..they're all such interesting languages. I've always been interested in Asian languages since we celebrated Chinese New Year in my primary school, we also learned a little about Japan and I was just in awe with it all.
Hi there!
Yes, I agree that languages are soooo interesting. Good luck!!

Fact: When females speak Japanese, they appear ten times cuter.
Proof: This video.
Fact: Calling women 'females' makes you infinitely less desirable for women.
Proof: Your dating history.
@@Arcessitor and wtf is with your long ass gay ass name bruh
bootyClencherMoistMan ah yes. Homosexual words- because letters have sexualities!🤩🥰😌
@@pompompurin2006 wtf are you talking about bruh stfu
@@Arcessitor Judging someone's dating history by their inoffensive use of the word "Female" makes you a piece of sh1t.
I think your japanese is really good, dont be so hard to yourself ^^ I try to learn korean but I dont find the time yet and I think these tips would really help me thanks :3🌸
Hi Jimin-ie!
Thank you for your encouraging words! Glad this video was able to help you !!

Thanks a lot for this!
omg Nami, that's impressive! You know the languages I really want to learn~ thank you for uploading this kind of video!
Thank you for watching KawaiiBunn!~ You're just as capable to learn it as well!
Thanks, this video has encouraged me to continue studying Korean
Hello Danielle,
Glad this was able to encourage you. Best of luck in your studies,
Take care,
Hebbs
Oooh basically fluent trilingual!!! I also wanted to study Japanese because of anime lol
Haha, you can learn as long as you're dedicated and practice lots n lots!
Ramen Noodles weaboo 😂 just teasing
far from fluent in japanese. she wouldn't be able to understand a native convo. i still have trouble and i can speak much more fluently
I'm getting my listening practice from you today ^O^ I'm taking Mandarin and Japanese in college right now and trying to maintain Korean outside of that.. my goodness what a wild ride language learning is!
ahh! i've always wanted a video like this from you!!
fortuneokay ahhhhh so happy to hear that I hope you enjoyed it even tho my grammar was so bad 😂😂😂
You are so talented Nami! Good job!

Ty for this video!! I study japanese too ^^ So it made me more motivated to study harder!! :)
Kpop Freak ahh I’m so happy to hear !! Thank you for taking your time to watch !! 😚😚😚
Even if you think you're bad at it, it's good that you have the passion to still push through. Ganbare!
Hi there!
Thank you for watching! Yes, motivation and passion are important for learning something new!!
Take care,
Hebbs
Thanks to all that anime i watched I understand without subtitles 😂 your Japanese is on point Nami 😃 love these informative videos 🙌🏻 keep em coming Nami 🙇🏻♀️😚
Bangtan Noona hahahahaha really ???? That’s so funny !! You must have really good listening ! But my grammar was so bad 😂😂😂😂😂 but let’s keep working hard hahaha
NamiiCho hahaha no Nami you were actually good.. in fact I learned stuff from you today 🙌🏻 yass lets work hard 💪🏻
I speak Spanish, French, Arabia and English but Japanese is my favorite language and I learn Japanese now it's very difficult and So KAWAII
てきよう means to apply a concept to something, or to apply a layout for example, not the applying as in registering.
Keep going!

Do you have a video on the camera gear and lighting you use? great video! Im impressed! :D
I want to learn Japanese too.(I know how to speak Korean,Thai and Chinese) but that was a long time ago because here in our country, learning another language is like having a sin in our own country😑there are so many judgemental people here so when I am studying,I am always in my room and never interacts with some native speaker of that language.
Your Japanese is good!👍
髪型めっちゃ似合ってますね!
Your Japanese pronunciation is really good!
これからもがんばってね!
Aaahhh I know what it’s like to learn different languages. A tip is (when you want to learn this new language) is tot listen to it A LOT. I don’t mean the grammar and vocabulary. I mean listen to the flow, pronunciation, etc. (SOMETIMES this may include intonation, but usually never)
This is how I got to learn (all of which I’m not fully fluent with) Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin & partial Cantonese), Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and English.
Fighting !!! 〜♡
Hello Pikayu!
Thank you for the helpful tips!
Take care,
hebbs
Hebbs Park | oh of course! I love to help others with things especially when it comes to learning a new language. I take your acknowledgment to heart! Good luck!
If you want to say apply (like in school etc.) say 申し込み (もうしこみ)! Good luck :)
ナミイイさんの日本語は素晴らしすぎでしょ〜勉強頑張ります
I'm japanese. Your pronunciation and intonation of Japanese are perfect 👍
Thank you, Tomohiro!
A persons voices literally changes so much when they speak a different language.
Yeah, it's so interesting!

Very nice job :) and a very informative video ^__^ ナミさんが初心者みたいんですけど、日本語は良いですね!私は4年間くらい独学で日本語を勉強して、努力したらだんだん上手くなります。聞き取りと読書を練習することが一番大事なことだと思います。Keep it up!

Im doing like, i will write a i u e o many times then when i already know how to write it on hiragana, i will write it on a blank page, to test myself if i learn something. 😁 its quite hard but its fun to learn.

私は一年日ぐらい本語を勉強したので、このビデオもう分かって嬉しになります。でも、まだまだ練習しなければいけません。どういう最高の喋るの練習と思いますか。
Ngl I thought some of the words sounded a bit like Spanish I'm pretty sure I heard además in there but I think that's just my brain trying to process a language I don't know and applying the words I know from Spanish to what I'm hearing
Idk man
it was probably arimasu, which is a verb
I speak Spanish, English, a bit of Portuguese and Turkish and now I'm studying Korean :p
