    I wasn't very interested in learning Japanese before but it sounds so cool it makes me want to try learning it. I am between Korean or Japanese. I already speak Spanish and English so I want to learn a third language because it is so amazing to be able to speak multiple languages and communicate with different people.

    • @NameePark
      @NameePark  7 лет назад +13

      Paola Itzel I think learning languages is always an asset !!! Both are good and both have their difficult and easier points (: because you already speak two, you might be faster in picking up a new one !!

      This may sound odd but Japanese feels really really nice to say. Especially the causative-passive forms. I've been learning it for almost three years and my Japanese classes have been the highlight of my university experience.

      Paola Itzel I also speak English and Spanish, when I entered college I needed 2 years of language for my major and decided with Korean since I like kpop and stuff. It's very fun and it's not that hard, coming from someone who had no past Korean experience other than listing to kpop.

    I'm so glad to her someone speaking Japanese (not as their first language) because I'm learning too and on duolingo they speak SO FAST! Lol but I'm getting better at following that speed with practice. Anyway, it's nice to hear you speak it with the pauses and all because it still sounds good and natural even though it's not at the speed of light lol. I just worried that my slower speaking would sound weird, but I see that that's not necessarily the case. Also, that's why seeing others who have learned the language can be so helpful. They often don't speak as quickly as natives and can be understood better. Whew! Long comment lol 😅

      I hate to break it to you, lol but her speaking speed doesn’t really doesn’t sound that natural... I’ve been studying the language for 6 years. After a couple of years of relatively slow listening practice you should be able to recognize accents and unnatural speaking. This is just in my experience. She does speak extremely slow, and if there were not a video or subtitles I would probably have a hard time keeping up with the topic of each sentence, especially since her grammar is a little off. There’s a lot of struggling and emotional ups and downs involved in Japanese but it’s worth it. Now I listen to a lot of political podcasts in Japanese and read news articles because it was worth it and that’s what I wanted to do. To improve your listening you need to listen to native Japanese speakers, Duolingo is slow and sometimes the pronunciation is off too, so listen to natives even if you don’t understand it. If you want to know any good resources for learning just let me know I’ll tell you what I used.

    • @awabia
      @awabia 7 лет назад +10

      Deep Mirage Deep Mirage I didn't mean natural for natives, I just meant that it sounds good enough for a person speaking it as a learned language. Yeah she has tons of pauses, but for someone who is at my stage of learning, it's a good speed. I don't even know almost of the things she talked about in this video. And duolingo isn't my only resource for learning Japanese, I just used it as an example.
      I don't know if your comment was supposed to be like you patting your own back about having been learning for six years or whatever, but hearing others who are learning the language can still be helpful in language learning. I'm sure you've done very well with your Japanese, but I'm not there yet. AND I still think she did a good job, considering that I don't know the rules of Japanese grammar and all.

    I'm in the middle of learning Japanese right now, and am almost done learning the pronunciation, writing, and lettering characters of Hiragana, I have a mac application called Human Japanese, that I am using to learn, it is very much like your book your friend had; however I have to use a notebook to practice the characters on. You sound so good, I can't wait to get to your level of speaking Japanese. I wanted to learn because of all the anime characters they show that don't get translated, and also for all the anime that is out there I must be missing out on. Thank you for sharing your learning process, props to you Nami!

      i think a lot of people have that problem when learning languages. you can understand what other people are saying, but have trouble saying things yourself. my advice is to try to communicate even with mistakes, and have japanese speakers correct you so you will not make those mistakes next time. hellotalk is a good app you can use, it allows you to speak with natives.

    Yay thanks for this video! I've been self studying Japanese for around four years now but it's been on and off because of school TT I started to learn Japanese because of a song by one of favorite singer's YUI. That song by her really helped during that time in my life and encouraged me as well. I wanted to understand that song and all her other songs as well so I started to learn Japanese I don't regret my decision at all because I discovered my passion for languages and cultures through learning Japanese :)

It is such a shoker for me! You seriously motivated me to star learning! I'm still in high school but I'd say I'm pretty fluent in english and a native Polish speaker. Polish is considered one of the toughest languages and while I'm albo really talented with foreign languages I'm thinking of studying korean and/or japanese/chinese further in my education. I'm also really into make up. All these things I love and they really fascinate me but I lack motivation to study and improve myself in these fields. You give me exactly that! You're my role model, very inteligent, smart person, wonderful human, a human I aspire to be one day. Thank you so much. Keep doing what you're doing cuz you're great at it babe! 💞

    Very Impressive. This is so much like my own decision to learn Korean and Hangul. I played with so many Koreans playing Starcraft and saw Hangul everyday so I thought I should look into it. I was immediately hooked. I bought several text books and been studying ever since. I am not as good as you at Japanese but I am getting there. As a white man... just to be able to speak some phrases and know the correct grammar and spelling of sentences makes me very proud. Even just knowing the Hangul alphabet and knowing it in Alphabetical order even and all the names of the letters. That alone made me happy. Anyway point is I would write random sentences in my notebook also !!! on postets, on the back oh junk mail, in the text books, everywhere. I always write random sentences like...
    저는 야채를 좋아해요, 지만 저는 피자가 먹고 싶습니다. 나는 미국인 사람입니다, 지만 저는 한국에 갑니다.
    Things like that. Not sure if grammar is 100 percent but I am learning. It really does feel so good just to have the stroke order down and just to practice writing ALL the letters and I imagine it feels the same to write Hiragana and Katakana !! the only thing that really and I mean really sucks is the Kanji to learn..... And you are Korean yes? So you might know a few dozen Hanja but now you need to learn 3,000 + Kanji … that sucks. That's why I was drawn to Korean. more practical and sounds better anyway. Anyway Congrats, Ur japanese sounds GREAT even though I wouldn't know at all I don't speak a lick lol. Can you tell me if my Korean sentences are grammar correct??? please? Thank you. Great video subbed. Bye.

    Aaahhh I know what it’s like to learn different languages. A tip is (when you want to learn this new language) is tot listen to it A LOT. I don’t mean the grammar and vocabulary. I mean listen to the flow, pronunciation, etc. (SOMETIMES this may include intonation, but usually never)
    This is how I got to learn (all of which I’m not fully fluent with) Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin & partial Cantonese), Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and English.
    Fighting !!! 〜♡
