I didn't mention that I was on the waiting list at my local AD for about 18 months before I got to the top of the list and got the call to collect my Daytona. The waiting list thing is a false market imo, as there is no cost to the buyer in being added to the list. Some folks will be on multiple lists, and many others wont have the money/credit when their time comes. Even with my AD only receiving 4 or 5 Daytonas a year, it didn't take long for me to jump from 20th to the top of the 'list'.
Spot on review. I have both of these watches also (sub no date and black dial Daytona) and find the Daytona a lot more special, to the extent that I'll only wear the sub in an 'active' environment.
Cheers, great minds think alike ... If I was buying the Sub again, I may well go for a non date version, has such a clean uncluttered dial. To me they both feel special, but yes, the Daytona feels just a bit more special..
Its great to hear different opinions on these watches. I actually don't like the Daytona (shock horror). Its not a bad watch It just does not excite me. Until you try a watch on you don't truly understand If It Is right for you.
I traded another Rolex I had as well as an Omega SeaMaster and got a 2010 Daytona black dial. The Rolex I had was more of a dress watch, and the Omega was one of three dive watches I had. I've discovered I'm not a true dress watch person, and having three dive watches was a bit much. So I now have two chrono watches and two divers. Good enough.
lol... that's because I have to edit the vid a heck of a lot, to remove most of my mistakes, long pauses etc. It takes me much longer to edit a vid than to film it.
Best steel Daytona vs SubC comparison I've found. My wrist is on the smaller size around 6.75 - 7 inch so Daytona will probably fit better but SubC is my holly grail watch and I will try it first. I know that additional 2mm height / width measurement is almost in another class, but do you find it drastically bigger than Daytona or it is not night/day difference, what is yours wrist size?
My Wrist size is 7.25 inches, I find both wear quite similarly, the Sub C being slightly larger perhaps due to its extra height and larger lugs, though both are surprisingly slim compared to most modern divers and Chronographs.. i.e. the Omega Co Axial movement watches, which are much thicker. I would say both would fit your wrist size fine.
The wait list thing happened when the Daytona you have came out several years ago. Don't pay a premium the prices will go to sane levels. I like the Daytona case better, it's sexier with the rounded curves.
i got on the list for the new daytona double black and my AD in NYC told me i have to wait 2-3 years where as others who have no relationshlp with the AD would have to wait 4-5 years
I would take those wait times with a pinch of salt, once the hype has died down, as more and more Daytonas reach the market, the grey market price will start to fall towards the rrp, the 'false' demand from buyers who just want to sell for an easy profit will disappear, if not completely then by a huge margin. I'm 37th on my AD's list for a Ceramic Daytona, they closed the list at 50. Given the number they receive annually, I may have to wait 5 years. But, I think the wait will be closer to 2 years. Of course no matter what the list says, their best customers will be first in line.
the sales people in rolex boutque in nyc are kinda snobbish, but my guy was cool. I had to choose btw the hulk or the batman i chose the hulk. If its two years i can start saving now lol
I stuck between the too and planning to only to get one love the Sub true icon the 007 watch and the adorable Daytona and yes prefer the old skool bezel over the new price £6,250 vs £9,100 😭
I'm glad I got mine before the recent price rise, although I'm on 'the list' of my AD for a new white dial Daytona, having seen the new model in the metal, I actually prefer mine. Both the Sub and Daytona of whatever reference are icons, whichever you pick, you cant really go wrong.
I found the Deepsea too thick and top heavy for me, but if you have like it, then go for it. I do like the look of the new Sea dweller, at 43mm makes it different enough from the 40mm Sub.
The demand for daytona ceramic was very high at the moment. Especially the white dial. Nice comparison btw.

A very comprehensive comparison. Thank you

I think something's wrong with your Daytona, it jumps about 5 seconds forward at 0:16

Thanks for response, great to hear that. SubC is my favourite watch and Daytona steel is too expensive so I hope that sub will look ok on my wrist.
Great video. If your other videos are as good as this then you have a new subscriber.
Awesome watches man! keep it up!

Great little review there! You got yourself a new Sub :)
Very good comments and advises except for the new sea dweller. Even if it make sense to have a 42mm watch, I like the sea dweller like it is.
Nice review!
Love the sub just got a new one. Hard choice between the sub and gmt.
B Box I was torn too. So I got both. A 1995 Pepsi and a new Sub Date
Daytona for me.

The Rolex submariner must be one of the most borring watches on the market. EVERYONE has one and it looks like crap.
Everyone ? lol
You can't spell and know nothing about the subject.
Ouch, that really hurt. Good one!
Just look at any watch forum, 50% of the watches are Rolex subs. It looks like crap and as I said, everyone has one.
The boring thing is that it looks like an omega at twice the price (and people still buy it). I might get a moonwatch as an alt-watch.
