- I bought an 8 inch 6 jaw chuck from eBay, cleaned it up, deburred it, made a backing plate and dialed it in on my old Clausing Model 100 lathe. For less than $200, not including the backing plate, it's a heck of a deal.
It was great to follow the process you went through and it looks good
Thanks!
Cleaned up nice...standard requirement for china tools. Looks like a winner !
I have a 4-jaw chuck from the same brand. It works perfectly fine. I'm sure you will be happy with yours.
I'm happy to hear that. It seems like a very good piece of hardware.
Buenas smigo agradezco mucho por este video es de muy gran ayuda para seguir aprendiendo 🙏👍
Nicely done thank you for sharing
Thank you!
Nice job on the backplate. Having the spindle thread machined takes a lot of the headache out of making one.
Definitely! I was glad to find it and at a good price.
I'm bot a big fan of 6 jaw chucks too busy. You can't get a caliper in between the fingers for a quick sneaky measure. Doesn't give you much advantage over a 3 jaw mabe just holds it ever so slightly more concentric on rough mill stock wich is a advantage I can leave to the way side.
That makes sense. I haven't used it much. I just wanted one to try it. My 3 jaw is certainly more manageable.
@MicksWorkshop it's got its place like any tool. I see it well fitted to thin walled jobs providing larger surfas area as not to crush or deform a part suck as a cylinder sleve
nice.
Thanks!
