In 1978, Priscilla stared as Irma in Irma La Douce for the Los Angeles and San Francisco CLO. Her leading man was Larry Kert the original Tony in the Broadway production of West Side Story. It was a great production and both of them were super!
And she’s also known for her Tony Award winning role in 1981 for A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine where she played Harpo Marx in the 2nd act. The song “The Best” from that show was an equally moving number….
What a great lady. When I auditioned and got into the show...I remember sitting in the back of the Schubert Theater with Danny Ruvolo and sobbing when she sang this beautiful song. He said to me "because you are sensitive."
I really love Ms.Lopez's dancers fashion sense:the sports shirt style top over a green leotard.that's very much a style of the '70's and early '80's.her dancewear was very fancy and chic.
Happy Birthday Priscilla Lopez born on February 26, 1948. She is an American singer, dancer, and actress. She is perhaps best known for creating the role of Diana Morales in A Chorus Line. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priscilla_Lopez
Thanks for posting this. I used it on my blog Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog as Song of the Day. after looking at Priscilla's imdb page, I came to the conclusion that this clip is from the 1981 Tony Awards broadcast.
You are right Mr.Pozen.i recently saw a recording of the 1981 Tony awards on youtube with Ms.Lopez performance near the conclusion of the program(the entire show that is)
The whole thing appears to be part of a multi-year retrospective sequence during the show where they looked at a crucial song in some iconic musical for each year.
Priscilla López was undeniably fabulous as Diana, but I do not envy the Tony voters at all that year with Kelly (then Carole) Bishop in the cast putting down an inimitable performance as the indomitable Sheila. No matter which of the two one, there would always be a camp with a great argument to make that the other deserved it.
I Love Priscilla Lopez.I've been a great admirer of hers for many years.

The Very Best !!!!
I love Priscilla Lopez.
I can't believe she's 71 already! Goes to show you how quickly time passes. Nobody is aging backwards, that's for sure.
I just saw her on Broadway last night in Grand Horizons!
So do I Katie.I also love her dance fashion: leotard paired with sports shirt.i think that's very stylish.
@@musikkunstetc.8465 Fabulous Musik!

Always one of my favorites !
Wow! Thank you for uploading this!!
Josh Groban does a a great version of this.
In the closeup, when you see her from about the shoulders up, she looks like she’s Star Trek crew member.
SHE should have won the Tony!
