Oh wow. That’s incredible. Sound like such an amazing experiment with some amazing class of young people. Please, please let me know how it goes!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃
Original and inexpensive method, me like! The only problem i see is, just like perlite, this is only good for small or baby plants. I don't see how a bigger aroid can maintain stability in a medium like this, once it reaches maturity. That's why people moved to DIY pon, because it gives the pot weight and keeps the plants upright without the risk of falling over. That being said, a mix of pon and acrylic yarn could work for giants like monsteras and other philodendrons.

When you fertilize do you pour the diluted fertilizer solution right over the acrylic yarn.? If so, do you have to flush the yarn with water occasionally to avoid salt buildup like in leca?
Hello. I use a synthetic yarn - acrylic is easy to find, and also polyester or nylon. I just wouldn’t use cotton or wool as they’re organic and can eventually rot.
Awesome Paul, your a genius! Can’t wait to try this out! Watch out plants , here I come!🌱🌱🌱🌱
Wooooo hooooooo!!!!! So awesome! I can’t wait to hear all about it!!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

I’ve done a mix of acrylic and lava rock. That helped keep some larger plants stable. Also switching to a heavier plant pot could work too. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Paul can I use something that’s not transparent for the vessel? Love your videos 😊
Hello. You definitely can. Whatever works for you. I just like to see what’s left in it at a glance. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hello. Yes and yes. Just to keep the yarn clean. Once a month seems to be enough unless you don’t dilute the nutrients.
Can any yarn work?
