First time commentator but a long subscriber, always love watching you, but I have to say the music drifting in and out coupled with the drone filming and the history was absolutely beautiful. Thank you to you both xxx
Oh my goodness! Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle both in the same video. Love them both and so many memories for me. What a gorgeous area I grew up in! ❤🇬🇧
My daughter and her boyfriend are in Newcastle this week, they went to Holy island today, sent me lots of photos. Then I just watched this........spooky indeed 😂😂😂😂
My wife suffers from high blood pressure and stress. She says listening to you makes her relax. And i can see that. Hope to bumb into you both one day. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, the gentle music and your calm voices give a lovely Zen feeling. It was a nice reminder of when I used to take my mum up to Lindisfarne. We used to have a picnic at the causeway watching folks race back to dry land. Fond memories of the beautiful area.
Can i just say Ken and Carol you are both so well spoken great listening ABOUT the castle we certainly dont have any in Australia that i know of i love coming along for the ride. 😍
Thank you guys for another amazing video. Nice to relax after our first long spin in our old transit camper ...only have it a few weeks ,ive been working on it. The old girl was really put through its paces up some very steep mountains along the wild Atlantic way . Just home this evening ,off grid totally for 5 days ... She never missed a beat. Getting harder to paek the van as " no campervan" signs going up in alot of places. A bit discriminating ,certainly if its daytime parking. But thank you for the video ,and what a castle . Wow.
Thank you Carol for the beach walk. I enjoyed seeing the waves rolling in. You've had such nice weather such a change for the rest of the Summer with the rain and bad weather that came later! Safe travels.See you on the next.
Great video. I would hate to be in need of that refuge shelter. Thought for sure there would be a few life vests in there too. I envisioned needed that in a storm. Bamburgh Castle really was worth the stop. Was surprised how large it is. Is definitely a tourist attraction.
The font sculpture looks like a baby receiving The Holy Spirit, which is usually depicted by a Dove traditionally 😊 and would make sense if it’s a Baptism font
For centuries, people have been trying to break into the castle to steal the silver but now the tables have turned, you can easily get in as long as you leave a handful of silver. 17 pounds is equivalent to 136 silver half crowns. They were silver when I was a boy. That´s more than a handful. It´s a big bag full.
Lovely vlog which brought extra special memories for me. My last holiday with my dad back in 1978 was at Bamburgh Castle. Sadly he died not long after aged 45 and I was only 17 😢. He bought himself a metal detector and I remember him using it all around the castle area and he found a few coins which we ended up using in the arcade at Seahouses. Thanks again for resurrecting those special memories for me ❤
Thank you. It will he 46 years on Tuesday 19th November so a long time ago now but never forgotten. It was so nice to see that area again so thank you for sharing that x
Brian and I loved Bamburgh Castle. We enjoyed visiting Northumberland. Not sure if you visited Alnwick Castle but we were disappointed with that one. Over hyped as a location for Harry Potter films. We both enjoy watching your weekly videos 🥹. Thank you Carol and Ken for continuing to make these videos for us and your other subscribers to enjoy
Hi ken & carol,Your overnight park up in Alnwick, was on the former Duchess high school site,( Duchess of Northumberland )demolished a few years back & relocated near sainsburys, i left there in 1986 at age 16, hated every day i spent there😂
When we were in the Highlands for the month of May, we toured Dun Robin, Inveraray, and Blair Castles. Dun Robin and Inveraray Castles and grounds was Magnificent. We had the Scotland Heritage card or something like that. Admission was free. The most interesting Castle was Blair Castle. We took the guided tour. So informative. Bad people doing bad deeds in the Castle back in the day. The guided tour is a must, entertaining and dark.
Watching as per on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 👌 & all essential dunking biscuits 😊❤ Whichever direction you arrive from Bamburgh Castle looms in the distance like a giant bit of architecture 😊😊😊❤ absolutely a sight for sore eyes ! Lindisfarne always wort a visit 😊 Breakfast fry up looking forward mine later, 😂bamboo sox. Ya can't beat "em Ken ,very comfortable ❤🎉
Lovely video,we were up in Northumberland earlier this year too.We joint Historic houses while up there,as it got us into Bamburgh and Alwick castles. This turn out a really good choice for us as we have used it a lot this year, plenty of local houses and gardens near to home. Have a lovely time on your travels .
Nice place to be in that hut watching you're car bobbing about. More or less every couple of weeks people need rescued About 3 wks ago 2 cars were stranded and 7 people needed rescued. Completely missed the safe crossing time. Time and tide wait for no one.

Great episode guys as ever - looks like the weather gods were with you We struggled with Bamburgh Castle setting aside the cost we felt the history was not told well with the artefacts in the place but maybe we were having an off day
Another outstanding video. Enjoyed viewing the castle and other scenery. My daughter and granddaughter were in Romania a couple of weeks ago and toured Bran’s Castle also known as Dracula’s Castle. My dermatologist told me that taking a shower twice a week is enough. He said we are stripping our natural oils off our skin taking more showers. Of course you would wash your hands and other places that may need a wash.
I always look forward to Friday evenings and a new video from you both. This one didn’t disappoint, thank you 😊 My husband likes Frey Bentos pies, can't say I'm a fan 😅 I've aways enjoyed Dad's Army ❤😊
Northumberland is definitely on our must visit list, stunning! It was me who recommended the Tower cooking set, so much cheaper than the Tefal version :)
FanTAStic video! You might laugh, I rolled my eyes at my impulsiveness but, I watched you fix chorizo a couple of videos back and must have been really hungry because it looked so good that I bought a package of chorizo at the grocery the next time I went. I had gotten hung up in that hurricane and had to move and a friend of mine brought me a care package that included a PACKAGE of CHORIZO!!! While I grew up where everyone ate chorizo with their eggs in the morning but we had scrapple with our eggs for a treat. So I have a dozen chorizo links (or maybe 10) in my freezer and haven’t a clue what to do with them. I seem to remember the chorizo that was around me being much softer and crumbling or melting when we put it in the skillet but yours appears more like a smoked sausage. I shall learn a bit more before the winter is up and might have a better handle on it. It’s funny, growing up in Albuquerque but learning to cook chorizo from a British couple in Northumberland. 😂 The close walk around the sculpture of the monks or friars carrying St Cuthbert’s coffin was done in a remarkable way and you could see the swaying of the Brothers as one would have seen sharing the heavier load. It was VERY well done!!!
Happy memories visiting Bamburgh castle they must have changed their strict policy no photography since our visit the room guides would stop anyone trying to take pictures. The causeway to Lindisfarne is one road I would not like to stop on in any circumstances, we had the best crab sandwiches from one of the fisherman’s cottages and visited the castle on the island. We had rented a cottage (converted barn) on a farm and could see holy isle from the bedroom windows go further down the single track road to the nature reserve at night you can hear the seals
Thank you for a lovely video. The views from the castle were remarkable.. especially i loved seeing the ocean.. the country side looked nice and green.. Again.. loved seeing the meal at the end.. looked very healthy. ATY
I have to chuckle at the humour! If we didn’t have our watches on we wouldn’t know what day it was!🤣 I so enjoyed this episode. I have the Brit stops app. Hopefully I can make use of it next time
When I was young, the back boiler heated the water. There was not enough hot water for us all to have a bath each day, so it was a wash of the important parts, usually in the kitchen in front of the warm gas oven, as no central heating. In the winter, when they were much colder, we would wake up with ice on the inside of the windows. We had central heating in the 70’s, luxury.
Beautiful part of our country and the castle and coastline were amazing. Thats on the list for next spring. Been a great trip so thanks for taking us along. Food looked good as always, stay safe you two lovely people. Blessings from Lincolnshire 🙏❤
I use Freshwipes which are like wet wipes but are antibacterial and twice the size of a flannel and disposable. No need for a shower for at least a week. Job done!
I'm sure you have satisfied many people's curiosity (mine included) about what it's like inside of the "shelter-tower" along the Lindesfarne causeway 😂 There's a difference from when we were there in 2011, seems to be a channel dug into the sands near the tower, which was not there then. Bamburgh Castle looks a great visit. 💙🦋
Hi Carol and Ken, great video, thank you. Saw somebody mentioned Barter books in Alnwick, huge bookshop, you would love it. And don't forget the Grace Darling museum next time you are up there. Keep well both ❤ x
Hello Ken and Carol another nice calming video to start off the weekend i'am watching this from high up in Northern Sweden i am out trekking for a week before the snow sets in. Greetimg from Kiruna Sweden

(Was Beepy the Vellfire) Showering every day isn't necessarily good for the skin anyway. I just flannel wash most days, even at home. I visited Bamburgh earlier this year. Absolutely loved it! A nice touch for a wheelchair user is the video tour of the upstairs rooms that aren't accessible. It's about half an hour long and was really interesting. And properly trained assistance dogs are allowed inside, too. Mine sat through that display at the beginning, watching all the vldeos very carefully. I'd love to know what she was thinking. 😅 Lovely vlog again, thank you.
Could not sleep, so arose about 4am, now dozing. Great memories from Lindisfarne (when I used to work in the Castle c1979s), best ever times when public are not there!! The series 'Vera', uses a location, for Vera's home base, on the northern end of the Island (private), no public access. I thought you might afterwards go to Seahouses and take ferry to see the Puffins. As always great times, thankyou, simply the best. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Oh wow, a fantastic morning fix of Northumbria, thank you so much. All of my favourite places, I got quite emotional when I watched Carol's shots of Bamburgh Beach and caught a glimpse of Coquet Island (daft I know, but I am a Geordie desperate to return to live there from the busy Sussex coast). Try Freshwipes (a small Sussex company based in Hailsham, I met them at the Campervan Campout at the South of England Showground last May, bought one of their small packs of Freshwipes to try and they're brilliant, so have just placed an order, ideal for camping if there are no showers, or the showers at the campsite are busy or not looking attractive to use. I hope you went to Barter Books in Alnwick at some point on your trip, an amazing second hand book shop in the old railway station with a fantastic cafe. I loved seeing your review of the refuge on the causeway to Lindisfarne, wow, scary, we always plan our trip to Lindisfarne weeks in advance to pick the right tidal conditions for an all day visit from first thing in the morning. Loved Sunny Hills, will add this to the list for next time, and didn't know that dogs are now welcome in the grounds of Bamburgh Castle, I am sure this wasn't the case previously. Have a lovely weekend, cheers xxxx
Hi you two, gosh this was lovely all the way. I am old enough to remember Dad's Army, we had it on Dutch t.v Very British, loved it. Speaking about the weather, you never met any Dutch 😏, see you next time.
We loved Bamburgh Castle, especially the Armoury. Great park up. We'd heard previously that Northumberland was a bit of a no go area. Lindisfarne could also have become our island home but for a bad home survey. 😢🐕🚙
Thanks for taking us around Bamburgh Castle, I was to mean last year to pay the entry fee 😃 I'm surprised they allow filming inside. You were so lucky with the weather on your visit. Did you get your rain Ken? As long as it knows when to stop. 👍🐸
A funny bit of information about Bamburgh Castle. It cost more to pay for the car park at £5 per day, than the £4 it cost to build the great Norman tower.
Lovely video! I’m hoping to visit Bamburgh when I visit in 2025 but there are so many itinerary items, so little time. Hopefully it makes the cut! Lovely video as always. Thanks for helping me debrief from a stressful work week. ❤️
Hi carol & Ken great video we did Edinburgh then traveled down the east coast. It was a great trip if you have watched? it there is a great wild camping location on the beach, just up the coast you could have gone to. We never went into the castle but woww they have made a great job showing it off, Ken the soup looked lovely. QUESTION we looked at changing to the fiat decaton from consort. but was put off as to the lack of storage, no way could we get our kit in the van, so we are sticking with our ford custom. We love your talk overs with all the history, stay safe and healthy guys happy travels, kim & Michael ❤
Great video. Hope you enjoyed the north east. Maybe worth pointing out that the ticket for Bamburgh Castle is valid for a year. In Alnwick, you really, really must go to Barter Books in the old railway station. Also, if you’re wanting to park to have a walk round town, don’t go the narrow gate: instead turn right where you were waiting to go through and there is a car park there and I’m fairly sure some bays are reserved for campers.
What a beautiful font and would love to know who carved it. I am guessing, with the child and the dove, it is bringing the baby for baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit. 🤷♀️
Sorry about the focus issues which were caused by an accidental change in the settings.
First time commentator but a long subscriber, always love watching you, but I have to say the music drifting in and out coupled with the drone filming and the history was absolutely beautiful.

Lovely location and great history 😊 thanks for the look around carol and ken .
Good job that white van had hazard warning lights fitted 27.17, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to park on double yellow lines on bend.

oooooowwwww, naughty goings on, 🤔🤔
using Bamburgh's secret back passage 😮😮
😂😂😀😀😀😀
😂😂😂
Hi you two, gosh this was lovely all the way. I am old enough to remember Dad's Army, we had it on Dutch t.v Very British, loved it. Speaking about the weather, you never met any Dutch 😏, see you next time.
Carol I use a Kracha window cleaner to clean my shower works great. 😊
Always great to watch your trips so much so I sometimes watch it twice lol. ❤
Cheers 👍
Very interesting thanks Ken and Carol ❤❤❤👏👏👏
Thankyou for the great vid guys .
We loved Bamburgh Castle, especially the Armoury.
Great park up. We'd heard previously that Northumberland was a bit of a no go area. Lindisfarne could also have become our island home but for a bad home survey. 😢🐕🚙
Northumberland was great. We will certainly be going back to explore more 🙂👍
Thanks for taking us around Bamburgh Castle, I was to mean last year to pay the entry fee 😃
I'm surprised they allow filming inside. You were so lucky with the weather on your visit.
Did you get your rain Ken? As long as it knows when to stop. 👍🐸
We got a bit 😁👍
A funny bit of information about Bamburgh Castle. It cost more to pay for the car park at £5 per day, than the £4 it cost to build the great Norman tower.
😁👍
Thank You For Another Super Video ❤️
Lovely video! I’m hoping to visit Bamburgh when I visit in 2025 but there are so many itinerary items, so little time. Hopefully it makes the cut! Lovely video as always. Thanks for helping me debrief from a stressful work week. ❤️
Enjoy your trip 👍
Another great video thanks was there a few years ago
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Definitely want to visit Bamburgh. Absolutely love the books the TV series is based on, although the TV series itself was a bit meh. Take care x
Yes we gave up watching after a few episodes.
The 5.4m boot is too tight. Next time we will get a 6m. We still love it though.
Thanks for the info!
What a beautiful font and would love to know who carved it. I am guessing, with the child and the dove, it is bringing the baby for baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit. 🤷♀️
We went there last year, lovely place to visit
👏👏👏❤️❤️yes Dads Army 😄😄😄
Nice!
