- Quick step by step instructions for installing the Costco Michelin Wiper Blades.
To determine which clips are needed, go to us.michelin-li... and enter your car information. It gets you a list of the clips that are compatible with that car.
One of my viewers gave this description for removing the blade from the J hook:
To get off the old blade unit fold it back until it is perpendicular to the J Hook (like the cross on a T). With a thumb on each side push the old blade unit in the direction that will move it out of the J. Once off you may need to move it over so you can slide it past the J hook. If you are struggling too hard with this it is because you don't have it in that perpendicular position.
Thanks, a bunch! I was changing blades FROM Michelin to another brand, but couldn't get the Michelins off! I watched a half dozen videos about wiper blades and Nissan Sentras before it occurred to me to look for a video about installing Michelin wipers. Your video did the trick. Easy peasy when you get clear instruction!
Glad I could help! You have a great summer.
Oh my god thank you so much for this. I am a visual learner so books and instructions are hard for me to follow. Having some do a demonstration is so much easier to follow. THANK YOU!!!
You are so welcome! By the way, in what state are you viewing my video? I would like to add a pin to my map for all my video replies. Thank you!

This is my first time buying these wiper blades and I was struggling so much! But you’re video really helped, thank you so much!!!
Glad I could help! By the way, what state are you in? I like to put a pin in my map for all of my replies. Take care!
Beautifully simple video! Last time I changed wiper blades it was such a struggle, so I thought I'd review the process before I dive in to do it on a different car. This is giving me strength 😂😂😂... Andy from California
Glad it helped! I hope it all worked out well Andy. Have a great holiday season.
Thanks George, you as well! And it went well... Well, I DID snap off a plastic piece from the long wiper 😑 but Costco refunded me, and I got it right the second time. Let mine be a cautionary tale to all! 😇
do not understand why you have so many thumbs down this was the easiest, most straight to the point and most useful video i found on here. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you for the complement. I think people watch my video and don't have the "J" hook design on their car and are frustrated. Sometimes I find getting the old blades off is hard for me and I am and old guy that has been around a long time. Have a great week and be safe.
@@gfotinakes316 yeah it's getting the old one off that gets me - but after I heard you say that that's difficult I didn't feel like an idiot 😁
@@hettiesimpson Thank you for your comment. It seems like I spend a large percentage of my life trying to figure out all these new technologies we are confronted with these days. Whether it be my phone, computer, smart house, and now smart car, things need to be figured out before sending them out for us to use. I tell my wife I think most of these issues including the wiper design still need engineering to make them simple for all humans. Have a great summer!
Female here in California, thank you a bunch! I must have viewed three other videos that were not much help until viewing your video!
I am so glad I could help you. Have a wonderful Christmas and 2022
@@gfotinakes316 Thank you...Merry Christmas!
Wow thanks so much for this video. I spent almost an hour trying to remove the rear old wiper blade of my car.
Glad it helped, I always struggle to get mine off too!
South Carolina here. Lexus SC500. Perfect description. I was making it way too difficult and the other videos weren’t as on the mark as yours George. Well done. First blade…”too long”, second blade, 3 minutes and 2 of those were trying to get the toggle to snap. You just gotta keep wiggling that too…
Sadly, I still go back and watch my OWN video when I get new blades because it's like nothing wants to slide out easily. Thank you for the comments. By the way, what state are you in? I like to put a pin in my map for all of my replies. Take care!

Thanks! I was confused with the instructions, but after watching this video was able to do it! Never replaced a wiper before haha, the owner of the car before me seemed to not give a damn and let the old one rust so it was super hard to come off
Thank you for your comment I am glad it helped out. Safe driving and take care.
Thank you, you made it so simple. Other videos were needlessly complicated.
You're welcome! I am glad I was able to help you, have a nice weekend.
Only video that actually helped me. Appreciate you for making it simple
Glad I could help you Ryan. Have a great summer.
Appreciated this a lot! Was confused and a bit overwhelmed by the instructions and the video helped a ton!

I went NUTS until I saw this video....Thank You !!!

@@gfotinakes316 In NY...thanks again
The wiper blades I bought at Costco had a yellow plastic cover over the blade and another yellow plastic piece under the end of the cover. The instructions and the video make no mention of these so I left them in place, thinking they were some new feature. The first time I used the wipers they left a thick film of water on the windshield so I figured out pretty quickly that the cover was there to prevent the rubber from warping in the package. I left the yellow piece under the cover, but then soon concluded it was there to make the cover easy to open before it is installed. Both yellow plastic pieces are good ideas, but a note of explanation would have been helpful.
Thanks, I remember that for my newest video.
Reading the instructions that were included with the blades really would of helped you.
😂 What a dufash!
I got those wiper blades from Costco a while back. When I saw all the parts I took them back because it looked like it was going to be a nightmare to figure out. Next time I'll know to watch your video!
Thanks Lori!
Thanks :-) Cold out so I did not want to mess with it while out there - so found your video! Nicely done!
Glad it helped! By the way, what state are you in and how cold is it?
@@gfotinakes316 Actually in Canada 😏 and not too bad now but by the time I can do it it's going to be -10C or so. Not terrible but 🥶
I have not done it yet. But I am so glad I am no longer feeling ashamed for not knowing how to change windshield wipers.
Don't feel bad, every time I change my blades I go back and watch my own video because I have forgotten the process myself! Have a fun and safe holiday season.
excellent. first time doing this stuff so thanks for the help

How about the rear window. I don't think it can replace with this brand, Excellent video Thanks
I don't know about the rear window. Thanks for your response, stay safe!
I have bought a set of Michelin windshield wipers. They were for my 2020 GMC terrain. Wiper would wipe clean the drivers side. Bought another set same thing , Tried to get in contact with their customer service with no luck. Bought a Boush ICON and it works perfectly. NO more Michelin wipers. They should stick with makeing tires.
Sorry you had so much trouble. They work great on my old '95 Ford Ranger and my 2012 Sienna. I guess they just can't make a wiper that is universal. Have a wonderful Fall!
you left on the yellowish blade cover....is that correct...thanks
No, it must be removed. Sorry if I confused you.
you saved my life, hahah, thanks man, I was trying to understand those stupid extras, sitting in bin now. Regina, Sk, canada
Thanks for your comment. Stay warm and stay safe, this Omicron surge won't last long.
I had to take the flip cover off completely in order to get my J hook into it (too thick of a hook), after taking it off I was able to slide it in. Then I just snapped the cover back on carefully both sides in order to not break any of the frail plastic nibs
Whatever works! Have a nice holiday season.
🇬🇷 Thanks for this upload, and you sound like Chuck Rhoades Sr, on Billions.
I looked him up, he's an OLD man! Oh wait, so am I ! Ha Ha
Very good in helpful video thanks
So nice of you to comment! Happy new year
The first time I installed it myself, so many parts gave me a headache, but fortunately you saved me! really helped, thank you so much!!!

I am glad I could help Fang. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
Best video ever
Wow! Such a nice thing to say.
I accidently snapped the cover in place before inserting the J hook. Now I can't seem to pull the cover back up. grrrr. Looks easy but ...
Edit:
to get off the old blade unit fold it back until it is perpendicular to the J Hook (like the cross on a T). With a thumb on each side push the old blade unit in the direction that will move it out of the J. Once off you may need to move it over so you can slide it past the J hook. If you are struggling too hard with this it is because you don't have it in that perpendicular position.
I got the cover up. It is just a cover and looks like the part it is on should come up. Actually I stuck a screw driver on the side and gently lifted it up. On my car (2011 Prius): If you look at 1:02 the part by George's thumb that is folded up, the cover, is removable. When it is up like at 1:02 you can twist it gently and it will come off. I had to remove it to get my J hook in. When you get the J Hook in then you can put it back on. You will see a nub on each side. Those nubs fit into the holes on each side.
Now I need to figure out how to mount the rear wiper on my prius. This is a good video and way better than the instruction Michelin puts in the package.
Harry, thank you for your detailed description. I hope you don't mind, but I copied it and placed it in the description of my video. Maybe your instructions will be helpful to some viewers. Cheers!
That "Good luck" at the end doesnt give me a lot of confidence!
Every time I put on wiper blades a new challenge usually arises. It usually means a little grunting and head scatching before I am successful. Good luck!
Thanks so much! Too many parts in the package made things very confusing!
Glad it helped!
Thank you very, Very, VERY much, saved lots of time consumption and frustration.

How do you make the cover go up? The instructions have it up, you have it up, but I can't get it to go up.
Sorry Tom, I am not sure what you mean. I just put another one on this week and it was challenging to just get the old one off. Keep tweeking it around and it will fall into place for you.
@@gfotinakes316 I figured it out. Takes some brute force to get the cover either off or up. Thanks.

@@TomCarberry413 how did you get it up. So basically o accidentally snapped the cover in place without installing the hook of windshield. Now I can’t get the cover from wiper up so I can fit blade
Thanks for the help! :)
Happy to help. Drive safely and have a great life!
Help! I read the wrong instructions, and snapped the lock closed. I can't open it now to install it on my j-hook
Katherine, see it you can get a screw driver inside of the area where the J-hook goes and gently pry it open again. Good luck!
I already clicked it so that it closed by accident, how do I get it open again so it can accept the j hook?
I am sorry it is hard to explain. Just keep at it and you should find a release point, good luck!
I have the same issue.
you have to use your fingers and pry out the sides of the top portion. pushing the button does nothing. good luck
How do you remove the old blades! Not install the new ones!
Find the metal J shaped end to the blade arm. You must slide the old blade down the "J" channel and out. You may need to jiggle it or twist it a little. The old weathered blade almost fuses to the J arm so it takes some force to remove. (Maybe even a little WD40 would help). Good luck!
Good video but what ARE the extra parts for?
I believe there are a number of differing wiper arms on cars. The other parts included are made to fit those arms that are not as common as the "J" hook design.
@@gfotinakes316 Gotcha! Thanks again!
It says that it will fit into my 2014 BMW 535i xDrive but it didn't! My car DOEST NOT come with a J Type hook. So now how to install these on my car?
Sorry, I guess you are going to have to resort to the tiny printed instructions. Another solution is to go by an auto parts store with your wiper blades. Often the people working there can give you some help.
😥The Michelin GUARDIAN (improved performance) do not fit Mercedes cars 2003 up to 2013. I did tried them.
So sorry you had to deal with the time, money and energy wasted. Better luck on your next adventure.
Can I use any brand of wiper as long as they're the correct size?
Yes! Just look at the book usually found near the wipers. It will direct you to the correct size you will need.
Hi, can I use this new model of Michelin wiper blade for 1995 Toyota Camry? Hope to see a response.
All I can tell you is to look at the booklet at Costco for the compatible blade number. You might be able to go on-line and see the same information from the Michelin Wiper blade selection guide. If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you writing from? (I like to put a pin on my map for each reply I get.)

How do you removed? I am having a hard time
Try pushing it around in all directions. Shoot a little WD40 where the plasitic parts may be binding. I hope something helps!
How to do rear wiper
I do not know. I know the rear wipers are not sold at Costco, but I do need to get some.
Thanks for the great content.

Lol my hook can't fit in like that, if you have that problem take of the cover and gave the hook pushed through that spot parallel and the turn it.

These wipers ruined my windshield. Full scratches.
So sorry. How could this happen when only soft materials touch the windshield?
Yep ruined my windshield
So sorry.

You can do it!
Usless - there's like 17 different ways to install and this only shows the easiest.
Well, I only have one car and it uses this installation. Maybe you can post a video with the installation you needed that could help the group of people I am not reaching.
Useless, the hardest part is getting the old blade off and this doesn't show this.
Sorry
They too bad to take off you push the leaver underneath and pull towards you now operate all the new world the new winds are easy to to put on it's a split the little Library back and shove it in there and pull away from you in a place to come and get her back down and you're done
