  • At long last, here is my flight review for the VQ Warbirds B-24 Liberator 110" Wingspan ARF. This is such a cool model and a really nicely built and finished ARF kit that fits together really well. The airplane presents beautifully in the air and maneuvers much like the full size. It'll even roll if you coax it right. ;) My full assembly and flight reviews are available at thercgeek.com/VQB24

    What a 'graceful' flying big bird (if a B-24 can be graceful). The weight helps it groove and the barrel roll was very nice. Great airplane, thanks for sharing.

Went on to be head of flight ops at McDonnell Douglas Long Beach.His name was David Clark and was one of the nicest men I have had the pleasure of ever knowing,had some awesome stories of flying The B-24,also had time in B-17's and B29's.Thanks man!

    Chris. Great looking model you have there. Looks like it took a lot of TLC to put it together. Love them big warbirds Bud. Too bad you on the west coast. We have a big event called Joe Nall here in the east. Lot of folks like you come with these type warbirds. You would love it. Thanks for sharing. 👊😎

      Thank you! I’m aware of Joe Nall. 😊. Does look like a good time, but yeah definitely a long trek for me to get there. Especially if I had any visions of bringing an airplane.

    Chris thanks for asking,I am doing super,been 4 weeks since stroke,going from total paralysis from the start to walking by myself with a small walker type cane,and my left arm and hand doing some amazing things,should be home in a week or two at most,will be flying by end of July.I am very persistent and hard working at physical therapy,just like I was during my career as a licensed A and p mechanic in Wichita.I was one of the best. And received my share of accolades from customers and upper management.Very cool to have customers tell my service managers if Don doesn't work on my aircraft nobody else touches it,pissed some of my bosses off but pres of company loved me for some reason,I flew on more test hops to set up fuel control computers than all the other mechs in the shop for years.I set goals and usually achieve them.A new goal is to come back to southern Cal. And fly with inthetube deep from La Jolla and to hopefully meet and fly with you!

    Looks like she flies nice. Need to get those same props for mine. I will be using four Saitos, though...it just ain't the same when it's that quiet!

      Should sound awesome with them 4 strokes!

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull 3 года назад

      @@Thercgeek Oh I know it will! The aircraft and engines are here now, props on order. Think my first step will be getting the engines broke in so that when I have the aircraft built they're ready to go. Impressed with how simple the build seems to be thumbing through the manual too.
      I think I will go with the turret automator you used on mine, too. Gonna set it up for dropping stuff...would love to have six tinywhoops in the bomb bays that I air launch. would be amazing to do at something like FPVFest(Which I hope to have this thing flying in time for; Edgewater Airpark will hear the howl of four Saitos at full song if I have any say in the matter!)
      Do you happen to have a list of the extension and Y harnesses you had to use?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  3 года назад

      I don’t have a specific list of the extensions I used as I just have a selection of that stuff on hand and also make my own too. You might look through my assembly article. Thercgeek.com/VQb24

    Fantastic effort with the build, Chris. The random motion of gun turrets was a great idea Curious do you get butterflies before a maiden flight on a bird that you put so much time & love into?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  4 года назад +1

      I do a little bit for sure. Usually, once the airplane breaks ground that goes away. The scale airplanes I’ve been working for years are even more nerve wrecking. 😊

    is that thing big enough to fit 4 4stroke nitro engines in the cowlings without too much mutliation? it would probably sound awesome with 4 engines droning

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  Год назад

      The cowls aren’t super big, so definitely would require some cutting. But, they’re oval in cross-section which helps when mounting them sideways.
