- August 16 recreational limit of sheepshead (10 fish) at the port wall in Morehead City NC. Sea urchins are, without a doubt, the best bait for sheepshead. The proof is in the pudding. Enjoy!

Catch Mud Crabs under "stuff", below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, oyster cuts are nasty). The purple crabs with spots and striped legs are stone crabs and are illegal to possess.
Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

has anyone ever said anything to you about being that close to the wall. I've fished there, too.
I anchor out away from the wall, just don't tie off to the wall and they are usually fine with you fishing there.
Are you diving for your urchins? I'm thinking I may just dive Radio Island the night before I want to fish with them, but if there's an easier way, I'd welcome that!
You can get them at low tide with a crab net, be careful on them rocks!

I prefer 2/0 - 5/0Gamakatsu 4X strong, also 3/0 to 5/0 Mustad Big Gun hooks are solid. Hook the urchin through the mouth (on the bottom) and gently push through the top.

Are you fishing on the bottom or just suspending the baits at different heights
Drop it all the way to the bottom, I never suspend the bait when I fish for sheepshead.
Good job bro ! Sheep’s are plentiful and good eating, won’t be long and marine fisheries will close them down like flounder..

How do you get away with fishing the wall? I can't even get close to it before somebody gets on me
You have to anchor, they will run you off if you tie up.
Where do you get those urgent from?
You don’t bleed them? Much whiter meat and less fishy tasting.
Notice the pink in the bottom of the cooler, I bleed them off camera by clipping the gills with scissors.
