    **Small Correction** - The Transmission kit does come with battery plates for Sony L series batteries. That being said using batteries on a wireless unit is not fun and I still recommend going the dtap cable route.

    Finally someone actually talking about latency instead of just range!
    Appreciate the tests and work you put in - would love to see some real world focus pull examples using the DJI transmission system if you have them!

    Coming from someone who has pulled focus on the teradek on multiple client shoots, and just recently picked up the DJI combo, pulling focus on the DJI is as good as it gets, the difference in latency between the Dji and teradeks is very negligible. I can’t count the number of times my teradeks have been rendered useless due to frequent drop outs in connections. Especially in crowded areas, the teradek is as good as unusable.

      yep brand new teradek kits on set and had over 10 drop outs mid takes on music videos and long ass re connections i expected better from kits that cost over 5k they were in the same open room space also

      Currently looking into buying a transmission system for my video village. Would you reckon focus pulling on the DJI system with the Low Latency mode is as good as the Teradek as far as latency?

    to update all the dji gear you must first update your dji assistant app, then have the units connected correctly during firmware update. but for me it worked when i updated the dji assistant app

    erh ? Batteries: the kit has the NP-F cradles included, so you're most certainly not stuck with the DJI batteries. Not sure, why you forgot about that.

    Hi.
    Love. your channel, thanks very much for awn awesome video.
    Do you know if I can use this system with my Mavic 3 Drone and my Dji RC pro monitoring order to broadcast back to a bank of large screen TVs in a Control centre at a major outdoor concert event? Thanks

      It will work with anything you can plug it into. So definitely not with the Mavic.

    • @stevemcintosh5322
      @stevemcintosh5322 7 месяцев назад

      Why not the Mavic then, IF your using the RC Pro controller with HDMI output, as the HDMI output is mainly designed to cast to another screen. so there shouldn't be any reason why this shouldn't work?@@spensersakurai

    1 - Those are not milliseconds!!! THOSE ARE HUNDRETHS OF A SECOND. So you are in fact seeing 210ms LAG on the DJI
    2- Those numbers are meaningless anyway. There is delay in your camera and in any monitor (which is unknown - could be a lot, could be not much, but it is not zero, and it is highly dependent on which camera and which monitor you are using). This is why you need to compare a straight hard wire SDI or HDMI cable with the same camera and monitor to using the transmission system. The difference between the two is what the transmission system itself adds.
    In fact the difference between the two systems is 70MS (not 7 like you say) . Since Parallinx is well known and established to be more or less zero, the DJI is more or less 70. This makes sense because they claim 60ms.
    3 - This is basic technical logic and math. Take a logic course, take a math course, take a lot of courses, because right now you are unable to decipher what you are seeing your gear do to make meaningful decisions and conclusions about its performance or maybe even how to use it.

      Very true. The was one of the issues with the Panasonic s1H vs a7s3. The HDMI latency on the Panasonic was terrible where no matter if you had the very best setup you could never get any lower than 200ms (300ms with average gear) vs around 90ms(150ms) for the Sony. I hate how they tier their products and deny software updates but they do understand the importance of low video latency.

    the teardek is as low as hdmi itself

    The DJI has too much latency to be useful for focus pulling. If you're going to spend money, put it towards Teradek. There is a reason it is the industry standard.

  • @JulioBHJ

    Ever since the DJI Transmission was announced, I kinda felt like it was just a proof-of-concept product. Like DJI said "let's see how high we can push this range number", just as a "screw you" to Teradek.

  • @kevinforget549
    @kevinforget549 2 месяца назад

    I think you messed up on the latency test. It's 210 ms for the DJI vs 140 for the terradek. Pretty significant but still acceptable for the DJI. The terradek seems to be near the limit of its zero latency as all other latency is probably coming from the cameras processor and sdi output. I believe it takes somewhere around 10-40ms based on the actual frame rate and sensor readout speed and then you have to add on how fast the processor can compress that data as it is sent to the sdi out.

    There is no comparison. The new Teradek Bolt 6 LT 750 can transmit (10-Bit 4:4:4/4:2:2 RGB, YCC)
    UHD 4K: 30/29.97/25/24/23.98 with only 0.01 ms Latency. And currently it's only $91 more than the DJI Transmission Standard TX/RX Combo.

  • @mennyus
    @mennyus 10 месяцев назад +6

    I love what DJI are doing, but this comparison is flawed to the point of reading a bit like an advert. An equivalent to this would be something like the Bolt 3000, with 3000' of range, which is itself about 8 years old. Your unit is absolutely ancient and was a budget version when it came out. The new Bolt 6 series will have much better connectivity using the 6ghz spectrum, and will offer 4k monitoring, which although isn't standard yet is a much more future proof investment.
    And to commenters below saying they pulled focus on the teradek and it was unreliable: Teradek is literally the industry standard. Saying you pulled on a Teradek without specifying what model setup etc is like saying you drove a car which broke down therefore horses are better than cars. It's ridiculous. Any major film you can think of (any!) will have used Teradek. DJI is awesome, but no first rate 1st AC will agree to work with it if they can choose something with zero latency - latency can make or break a shot at the high end. For monitoring, drone work, smaller commercial stuff; yes, DJI is killing it!

  • @JacobVossFilms
    @JacobVossFilms 11 месяцев назад +2

    Latency is going to make this an absolute no go for focus pulling but client/director monitor could be cool!

  • @OnIcePerspectives
    @OnIcePerspectives 9 месяцев назад

    Since you were measuring in hundredths of a second, you actually measured a 70ms difference, which is approximately what DJI says the latency is for the Transmission (they say 60ms). So yes, it stands that the DJI Transmission adds 60-70ms, on top of the 60-70ms already present. It all checks out.
