As the other comment said Tom Jenkinson is the genius behind this, he was a Jazz bassist that was in love with Aphex Twin so he turned to Electronic and in some albums/tracks really combined the two like no one ever did before or after. He combined samples of his own drum and bass playing, synthesizers, drum machine and probably some other stuff and recorded it all onto an 8 channel tape recorder. That means no computers! Loved that you commented on it being like Jazz/Fusion because that's what I thought you would like about it. I think you really need repeated listenings to get how complicated those drum patterns are, also think you missed the delicious low key bass solo in 3:56 but that's really easy to miss m/ Anyway glad to see you enjoyed it even if it didn't amaze you :) maybe next request!
an 8 channel tape recorder mm, didn't dj shadow have the same set up for endtroducing? that's honestly all so fascinating tho, combining both his own drum and bass samples with others.. defs grew on me and yeah, love the flow nd the vibe, also appreciate the skill behind it much more. cheers again duderoo! love hearing shit i've never heard before m/
squarepusher had nothing to do with aphex twin and vice versa, they weren't even on the same label (aphex twin was on rephlex and squarepusher is on warp) until they were both well already in their own careers
his first release was on Rephlex, and Richard and Tom are friends and they make a couple of tracks together. Read the manual before saying something. @@InfiniteRhombus
Tom Jenkinson aka Squarepusher is a musical savant. He plays all the instruments you are hearing, but everything is produced during the golden age of IDM. Bought this vinyl in the late 90s and still one of my favorites. Cool to see you appreciating this dude, you should definitely rinse the entire album on your own time. I urge you to listen to the track Port Rhombus, you won't regret it.
your av by the way hahahah, no idea what it is but hilarious. yeah hes an absolute madlad it seems, i can imagine getting real deep into this album as endtroducing is one of my fav ever and this has that same kinda drum tracking and vibe
@@ProgPiglet he is a madlad, it makes his music so versatile. He can create this spectrum of jazz fusion on one album, and create maybe a futuristic landscape of experimental drill n bass on the next like Tundra4 ruclips.net/video/uD3vr7_Al88/видео.html
Nice choice! I love Squarepusher and Aphex Twin... You should react to some of their music videos too!... The music video Squarepusher did for their song "Come on, my selector" is awesome. a bit creepy and lots of stuff in sync with the music. Came out in 1997 or so. Aphex Twin has some awesome videos too... Come to Daddy, Windowlicker, Donkey Rhubarb, or Rubber Johnny
Please! React more to Indio Solari or his ex-band, LosRedondos. It is the most popular band in Argentina and they have incredible songs. I recommended "Jijiji" and I do not disappoint you. :-D "Vencedores Vencidos" is his best song ruclips.net/video/WGkCNj5wofA/видео.html Fuck! My English sucks!
Dude please do a video on North Circular, the album version and Aphex's live cover. Glad to see someone doing reactions to this artist, you are in for treats. :)
