Great video Matt! This is real hunting! Thanks for sharing and remember a “bad” day hunting or fishing is still better than a good day at work for most of us!! Keep Hushin !
Feel your pain. Had the same misfortune this season, shot placement and all. Keep your head up. The community appreciates the heck out of you guys for showing the lows along with the highs.
hey man I cant say I love the direction that the whole hunting community and social media is going, but your attitude was a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work. You got a good buck coming your way!
Heck of a squad!! Matt you did the work all the way to the end and thank you for sharing your slice of Heaven. The outcome brings back a similar memory of my blood soaked arrow, one pin drop of blood found, a dog and no buck. But we keep on keep’n on!!
That's always a rough pill to swallow! I'm sorry this hunt didn't go like you were hoping for Matt! It was an awesome and amazing gesture for the guys to give this to you! It would have been really cool for you to harvest a giant! This is season has just been weird here in Utah, and all over the west from what I'm hearing. Things are just off. With the winter kill, and the late start for animals repairing their bodies from the late winter, it's just made for a different hunting season. Feed and water everywhere, animals spread out all over the landscape. Hard to find mature deer or elk for that matter. It was a tough one!
That was amazing to watch. Been following you guys for years and it’s been so great to see the truly deep friendships you have. I envy you guys. Keep it up boys 👍
Wow, that was amazing of the Hush team to gift all of that to you, but it also sounds like you are a critical part of their team. Seems like you guys have an awesome work culture. Makes me wish I could work with you guys part time! I’m an avid bowhunter, and I feel for you on this one. I lucked out and drew an expo tag in 2023. It ended up being one of the toughest hunts ever. I also learned that in addition to the rough winter last year, there was a pretty significant drought 4 to 6 years ago that impacted herds throughout the state. Definitely made things tough. Anyway, awesome video. I honestly think more highly of hush after seeing that. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible video!!! Love that you show the raw emotional aspect of hunting both the good and the bad. Love the high lonesome of mule deer hunting. Keep up the great work both behind and in front of the camera Matt.
Finale a true deer hunt. Its odd to see HUSHIN put out a video that is not paid and in the bag hunt. HUSHIN use to put out the regular guy hunts when they were like us but it seams they will only produce Glam hunts that the regular guy could never afford, but they either get them for free or they work out the promotion for the land owner and or guides. Thank you my friend for putting out this hunt. It feels like home!!
Great story Matt. I know the feeling. Nov 3rd I took a 416 yd shot at my Elk. I hit him and he separated from the other Elk and went into the trees. Took me an hour+ to get to where he was last seen. I approached the tree line where he went in. He had bedded 3' inside the trees. I was 30' from him and he bumped out. Four of us searched for 3 hours and finally found him piled up. I was feeling the highs and lows during that 3 hour period. Way to stick with it using every resource to try and find your deer. Keep up the good work you guys. A lot of people really enjoy your content. Can't wait to see the next one.
Oh man… that’s some tough luck there. We now the feeling all too well. It’s hunting and things aren’t always stars and rainbows. Great episode regardless and you definitely showed how hunting can be at its lowest. Much respect!
Some very nice footage. Enjoyed it. I've lost my share of Mules in hill country over the four decades I've hunted. With more experience, I've just avoided the long shots, even though I shoot better than ever. You'll get there too.
They are tuff animals. Lost the first six point bull I ever drew on in my home state of Idaho. Perfect shot! Gave him 45 minutes found my arrow. It told the story then jumped him 60 yards from where he was hit. Backed out then it raining all night. Love archery but also hate it cause I love the animals we pursue.
No man’s land! A spot so small when you look inside an animal it seems impossible to hit..!! I couldn’t it if I tried, and yet somehow I’ve drilled it..! I’ve been in your shoes and feel your pain! Bow hunting is a roller coaster to say the least! Enjoyed your hunt 👍🏻
Great job matt and the hush crew. You guys show it all. The good the bad and the ugly. This is the hardest part about hunting is wounding and animal and not being able to recover it. I’ve never had it happen to me but people in my hunting group the last few years have had it happen a couple times. Last year we drilled a buck in Nevada on a rifle hunt two direct hits at 370 yards tracked the buck over 2 miles him bedding once and never could recover him. And then this year on a le elk hunt here in Utah we shot a bull at 400 hit him 3 times tracked him over 3 miles through some nasty stuff never having him bed down and eventually loosing blood. It’s never easy but all you can do is try and try and try somemore to recover the animal. Hopefully things look up and you end up filling your tag but if not you take all lessons learned and make it apart of your experiences and move on to the next one.
I did the same thing 3 years ago on a similar sized deer. 40yrds, high shoulder, complete pass through. Tracked him for 6 hrs the first day... had decent blood for about a mile then nothing. Spent another day trailing him and never did find him. Broke my heart and havent archery hunted since. Unfortunately these things happen. I feel like your deer most likely lived. Great vid
great job man, you did your best and those animals are so tuff, he went far! and finding him in that tall brushy terrain is nearly impossible unless you step right on him
Yeah that sux man. We didn’t recover my bull this year either. I didn’t want to leave the mountain with out him. But yeah that’s bow hunting. Still an awesome hunt gentlemen. Great work 🤙🏽🏹🦌
No i would not stock that buck....first enjoy that hunt you earned it . Take all you can in you are still young trust me.. Second I agree you are just educating that buck. Good luck on your dream!
Yep know the feeling had the same thing happen in August tracked for miles found where he bedded down and no more blood after that is the worse feeling for sure kept looking for him for days after never seen birds either
Great video but I Feel for you man!! As we all know, this is part of hunting. You have to be okay with failing but you can’t expect failure. These failures only make the success so much sweater!
Let’s appreciate hush in for keeping up th eposts
Than you for the adventure, Matt! Loved watching you in action. Keep your chin up and keep hunting!
Great video Matt! This is real hunting! Thanks for sharing and remember a “bad” day hunting or fishing is still better than a good day at work for most of us!! Keep Hushin !
You’re right! Thanks man!
Feel your pain. Had the same misfortune this season, shot placement and all. Keep your head up. The community appreciates the heck out of you guys for showing the lows along with the highs.
Glad you said this! We try and stay as true and authentic as possible. Just hunting the way it is!
hey man I cant say I love the direction that the whole hunting community and social media is going, but your attitude was a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work. You got a good buck coming your way!
Appreciate that comment!
Finally!! An employer that walks the walk! …..
From this point on I will be a a forever consumer of whatever you do!
Well Done!

This is at R&k in Utah, a place that the average person could never afford to hunt 😂

You did the best you could in the situation you were given... Wish you the best in future hunts.

Don’t kick yourself to hard, you did your best and it happens.
Thousand Peaks and then dropped over into the top of chalk creek??
Happens to the best of us. Keep your head up.
Appreciate thank you!

I'm so sorry Matt, that sucks, but the knowledge gained is priceless. No shame there!
Appreciate it. You live and you learn!
No i would not stock that buck....first enjoy that hunt you earned it . Take all you can in you are still young trust me.. Second I agree you are just educating that buck. Good luck on your dream!
That was a good hunt good to see yall again
Appreciate it!
Geeze. Tuff break. Once I switched to fixed blade slick trick broadheads I’ll never look back.
That's what real men do for people that bless their lives!!!
Mattie ice it really sucks, but i know you put in your due diligence in trying to find your Buck. But great video
Great video! what camo were you using? Thanks!
🥺 such a bummer. It definitely looked too high. I feel for you.
Yep know the feeling had the same thing happen in August tracked for miles found where he bedded down and no more blood after that is the worse feeling for sure kept looking for him for days after never seen birds either
Here in new Mexico you are not taking your boots off 😂
Quick question… What are you using to hide from the rain? Looked like a pretty sweet set up.
Thanks for sharing.Sorry you couldn't find him
Great video but I Feel for you man!! As we all know, this is part of hunting. You have to be okay with failing but you can’t expect failure. These failures only make the success so much sweater!
Appreciate this man. Tough one to share!
Love it
How does that work to get tags for other people?
Why did that first buck look like he started to bleed after the shot. In the long lense it looked like a far back shot just in front if the back hips
Shadow or crease in his hide
Is this a new camo pattern? Seems lighter
What brand hat is that? Path projects?
Vortex sun hat
Now I want to come work for you guys. Too bad I’m almost 70.
I just wish it would’ve went in more depth than the podcast with Jack
backstrap shot plain as day
Why no sunrise hunt yet?
Remember no animal goes to waste.
Tuff luck mat. Great hunt anyway
That's 100% backstrap, no mans land does not exist. hes alive
Y don't you guys give drone deer recovery a try??
You guys should colab with mkc .
Damn dude, sucks for sure, but that is part of bow hunting. Better luck next hunt
Thanks man.
To bad Matt tough way to end after working so hard?
Leave him as a maybe later buck
Ya hiring?
Someone tell his kid there’s no such thing as a “slam dunk” in archery hunting. Don’t ever use that word.
I'm not a big fan of the private property hunts. Stick to what built your brand, DIY public land hunts!!!!
Sorry pal.
Buy a rifle.
