I like it. I just got myself an Lathe machine and I have been stuck watching how to work with the tool as well as turning itself. I want to make a light house because it looks like a simple job. After that I want to make the chess pieces as well as the boards. Thanks so much for sharing

@@AndysCornishCreations No Andy I am not really a turner just enough of one to make patterns for aluminum casting. That is why I can see how that you make turning look easy. But from experience I know it takes a lot of experience to get the chips flying like you can. It just feels so sweet when you find that combination of whatever it is to get the chips curling up off the cutter and to see the form develop from your thoughts to a real object. Turning is such a satisfying work. Thanks for your videos.

Looks like an easy sell at the raft show! Most of the other turners on here are doing these massive complex turnings that sell for thousands. I like your style!
Hi Bob... I imagine that it would be a good seller... everyone loves a lighthouse... I haven't sold anything yet at craft shows or fairs ... Unfortunately I don't have access to or the funds to buy these huge lumps of wood so I tend to concentrate on the small projects where I can make use of offcuts from work or prunings from my garden and small pieces that I buy... A really great little item for any level. In your videos you always manage to make a task look easy and achievable by anyone with a bit of application. This is definitely is one of those. Also the beauty of this one is that you can scale it up or down to any size. Really great.

Hi Andy great little project, and was that just a piece of wire you used to burn the ring around the lighthouse not something I’ve done before. Keep up the great work.
Hi Paul... Thank you very much... I actually bought the wire from a woodturning shop... I got 2 thicknesses for q thin or thicker band... But you can use pretty much any wire... turn the lathe speed up high... Just make sure that you put handles on the ends and don't wrap the wire around your fingers... It could take your finger off... Well now, I might have to look through my wood and copy this, Andy. I like it a lot! The red adds just the right amount of color to grab your eye. I have a picture of a lighthouse on the Oregon coast that has red in it. I'll have to look that up and maybe use it for my model. Really well done and entertaining video. Hi Gordon... Welcome to a great hobby ... this is a relatively easy project once you have it mounted on a chuck... Hopefully you have a chuck... if not and funds allow ... I would recommend getting one asap... it is a real game changer... I put it off for ages because of the cost but when I eventually bit the bullet and purchased one it made such a difference... I haven't sold anything yet at craft shows or fairs ...
Unfortunately I don't have access to or the funds to buy these huge lumps of wood so I tend to concentrate
on the small projects where I can make use of offcuts from work or prunings from my garden and small pieces that I buy...

A really great little item for any level. In your videos you always manage to make a task look easy and achievable by anyone with a bit of application. This is definitely is one of those. Also the beauty of this one is that you can scale it up or down to any size. Really great.

I actually bought the wire from a woodturning shop... I got 2 thicknesses for q thin or thicker band...
But you can use pretty much any wire... turn the lathe speed up high...
Just make sure that you put handles on the ends and don't wrap the wire around your fingers...
It could take your finger off...

Well now, I might have to look through my wood and copy this, Andy. I like it a lot! The red adds just the right amount of color to grab your eye. I have a picture of a lighthouse on the Oregon coast that has red in it. I'll have to look that up and maybe use it for my model. Really well done and entertaining video. Love the light effect at the end, too!

Welcome to a great hobby ... this is a relatively easy project once you have it mounted on a chuck...
Hopefully you have a chuck... if not and funds allow ... I would recommend getting one asap... it is a real game changer... I put it off for ages because of the cost but when I eventually bit the bullet and purchased one it made such a difference...

We don't have many lighthouses in the Valleys in Wales, none in fact, but that is a great idea for craft fairs.
