Lmao "the Italian". Matt Champion is mixed white and Japanese. :)
More names: Kevin Abstract -- the gay one, he's also the leader. Merlyn Wood -- born in Ghana, exaggerates his accent and has blonde hair here. Ameer Vann -- "let there be light on the day I was born", no longer in the band. Dom McLennon -- bigger guy with the Mike Brown reference ("I could get shot in the back and they'd tell the world that I fought 'em"). Joba -- other white guy who is kind of crazy but also sensitive, raps like a gangster and sings like an angel. Bearface -- not pictured, he plays a bigger role in their latest two albums, has a beard and a nose ring, is a short white Irish man who always wants to fight people.
ALSO: You're wrong about the money thing. Listen to the chorus. "Cash don't last, my friends will ride with me."

Wizard Lizard thank you for this breakdown. Now I’m getting somewhere. And I really appreciate you pointing out that I got the money thing wrong. These guys must be really close, like brothers. They seem super comfortable with one another.

Their latest album "Ginger" reflects upon religion as a central theme. It also deals with the outcome of them having to kick out one of their own "brothers" from the band because of sexual abuse allegation. Their first three albums (Saturation 1,2,3) were pretty much lightning in a bottle. 3 albums in less than a year is incredible especially when most of the songs, in my opinion, are all strong on their own. This was them at their infancy and being wild and having a boppy bouncy sound (check: bleach, face, all the last songs of each album for more melodic sounds). Then the point where they scraped an album and kicked out a member. In response they made "Iridescence" which is regarded as their most shaky album. It is like a teenager. Lots of emotions, but they're messy and almost incoherent sometimes. Tonaly, it's strange. But I like it for that reason. And last Ginger, it's more mature and somber. Where their roads go who knows. On Ginger check out No Halo, it's a wonderful track. Sorry for the long message it's just a bit of context for the group!

Oh also if you pull up the lyrics I guarantee it'll be worth it to Amy of their songs, it provides a lot of well needed context.

Gerardo Ortega wow! Bro this is what I was looking for. This sheds so much light on their sound and motivation. I really appreciate you sharing this. I’m going to really break their material down more.

Whoa this is the first time I really understood how cool Ameer's verse is. He compares being a black celebrity in America to being like a slave.
"Stepped off the ship with the slaves, then I go hit the stage"
"I got a brand new *whip*, all i need is a *chain*"
Words that are associated with slavery, but also closely associated with status symbols
