Hat off to you, Ken, for bringing us to Cinnamon Island. To be honest, this's my first time seeing a cinnamon tree, a cinnamon branch and how it's processed. Thanks a bunch for this educational and informative video. I learned whenever there's something new and different. Very nice garden with plants and fruit trees around. Thanks again for this beautiful video, Ken.
Have any of u been to d spices garden in Penang, lots of herbs n spices plants in d garden. I've known cinnamon tree by chance. When I was a kid, I live in Jalan U'Thant off Jalan Ampang in KL. Along d U'Thant road there r lines of cinnamon trees, some of d tree's trunk had been scalped, n much later I found out that d bark is cinnamon. I wonder if d trees r still there.

Wow. Interesting Cinnamon Island. I knew Sri Lanka is famous for their Cinnamon. Thru your vlogs we can see the process of cinnamon stick. Keep posting more of interesting videos ❤️
Cinnamon is not the wood, it is the inner bark. You were in Matara recently. Matara and Galle district are the best cinnamon in the world, a lot of the stuff sold in Europe is not cinnamon but cassia, a related plant. Even the packets of powdered cinnamon in Sri Lanka is fresher and better than anything in Europe. It costs very little so you could have some in your back pack! This family are really lovely, and what a nice trip to take you on. It is really beautiful. I really enjoyed this video, everyone was so chilled and relaxed maybe because your host family are like that anyway. Loved seeing the jelly fish and the kimbula! Ask your friends about the cashew nut extraction process, it is not just like cracking a nut, especially when it is a cash process it can be a very tough occupation, so I am always super careful to value the end product, as it is such a difficult process. As with cinnamon no mechanical substitute for manual work has been fully found. So glad you had this really nice unstressful day and hope you are glad to still be there. Your best video so far.

Hi Ken.. Cinnamon is unique for Sri Lanka.. you can't found Cinnamon outside Sri Lanka.. others are Casca... but all the world thought casca as Cinnamon... you can recognise the different between Cinnamon and Casca looking for the sticks..
Isn't it called Cassia? From what I know, "Ceylon Cinnamon" AKA "true Cinnamon" is what's in SL. "Chinese Cinnamon" AKA "Cassia Cinnamon" is other widely available varient.
Yeah Cassia can actually be toxic and bad for health unlike true Cinnamon first domesticated in Sri Lanka. They even find Cinnamon in Egyptian mummies which mean there must have been trade routes even before the time of recorded history.
Hi Ken, I really enjoyed the video. I am stuck at home because I have covid, so keep making lots of vlogs to keep me entertained. I am drinking some cinnamon and ginger tea.

Hi Ken, that house in the island refers old times in sri lanka. That is how our ancient houses were built. Normally main income of most of the villagers in rural areas of southern province is cinnamon. Even most of my relatives do this job. Bigger companies buy products from villagers. Then they are doing some value added processes to increase the shelf life. With those processes taste may be reduced. Because the chemical cinnamaldehyde is a volatile substance.
.Thank you very much Mr Ken . showing us & explaining about Cinnamon . even though I lived in Sri Lanka . i never knew how it come to market . may God Bless you . good luck

Cinnamon is always made with hands. It is an arduous task, and we are short of capable hands as young people are not interested in learning the art. The best way to identify a pure Sri Lankan sweet cinnamon is to look at the cross section of the stick; it will look like the letter B in the English alphabet.
Hi Ken..what a nice video..you gave good details about cinamon..really nice..yes month of April,in srilanka casshue trees can be seen..nice viideo ken😊👍stay safe..have a good day..
Greetings from 🏴 Ken. What a fantastic video. Your new friends are amazing people. Feeding the monkeys looked so cool. Very interesting visit to the cinnamon island. Great trip Ken. Stay safe and well my friend 🏴🏴🇱🇰🙏
Cinnamon is made by peeling the bark of mature branches of the cinnamon shrubs. Sri Lanka cinnamon differs from what is sold in the US and Europe. It is thin and crispy, crumbles easily when pressed by fingers, the color is an orange/tan mixed very light brown, has a very sweet aroma and also tastes very sweet when chewed unlike the chocolate color dark brown hard sticks sold in the western countries. Next to Sri Lanka Madagascar also produces good quality cinnamon. Too bad you could have tasted the real taste of fresh cinnamon if you had picked a leaf with the stem and chewed just the stem when you were there.
