This is one of the happiest videos of President Nelson and Company’s worldwide tour! Seeing the people in this video’s faces and their stories warmed my heart. And an Armenian as well, that’s part of my family’s tree. My heart is forever connected to Russia because of a piano teacher named Laris Biviono (doubting the spelling of the io or oi). I was 5 when I started taking piano lessons every week from her. Over next 10+ years. She told me the stories behind each song and spoke of the beauty of each accompaniment with so much love and passion. She was strict but she loved her country in every fiber of her being. She taught me much more than just the music. My favorite composers are mostly all Russian because of her. My love for those composers is in every fiber of my being as well. Once in a while the phone would ring and she excused herself to answer it. It was usually a dear friend or family member on the other end. They only spoke Russian so the language is a familiar part of my childhood. She made the best cookies and sweets for our recitals from the Old Country. The food is amazing!. A student and friend my age is a concert pianist now all thanks Mrs. Biviono. She played so beautifully her fingers seem to float across the keys. Her history was a part of my time with her as well. She met her husband in America at an event or church. He had escaped from Russia under the Soviet rule when he was 12. He safely got over the borders barrier as the soviet solders fired theIt rifles at him. He was a good man. They had 4 grown children who I looked up to. They all had degrees from universities and were great pianists. Mr. Biviono died in a tragic ending after I was grown and had my own family. My heart broke for her and I always wanted to knock on their door when I moved back home. Many times I parked near the house to see signs of students or people since she lived so close. I didn’t know if she still lived there or if she still gave piano lessons. That tragedy may have ended her ever teaching again. She was like another mother to me and I love her in the deepest part of my heart. I look forward to seeing her again one day in the next life! I know the country and the people as if they are my family because of the love and pride this wonderful family shared with countless children over decades in our community. Though it was under socialist rules it was still the most beautiful and the best country in the world. It is a wonderful country as are its people. It doesn’t matter their standing in life or how life may be, they all are my brothers and sisters who hold as much value in my eyes as they do in Gods. I love these families and their stories here and am so grateful to have been able to see their stories. God be with you til we meet again. I love you all! Hold fast, you’re in my heart and my prayers forever. Your sister.
