Hard to find guys with all these qualities, we’ve been through quite a few in the last 30 years. Biggest thing everyone involved needs to hold in the highest regard is, someone’s life is in the car your working on and there isn’t room for mistakes. Not only your driver but all the other drivers as well. Something happens to your car, many others can get tore up by a simple mistake. Very good video, couldn’t have said it any better!!
That was not only interesting, Billy, it was a very good and wise tutorial that other teams should watch. Experience, like yours, is the best teacher.
“You’re over here thinking about your sweetheart from last night…. Next thing you know you’re outta fuel on lap 5” haha. I’m stealing that one 🤣
Tha biggest thing for me was to learn the name of the different parts on the car and what size wrench or socket you need for that part. Also don't be scared to ask questions if you aren't sure about something. Because at the end of the day that drivers life depends on you along with all the other drivers on the track.
You're right Nate! Asking questions is not a form of ignorance or a sign of weakness. It's a sign of a person wanting to learn and be a part of the growth of the team. Positive enthusiasm!
Well said B.D. I wish they all knew how important it is to do the things you just covered. Teams will spend cubic dollars on all the things and totally overlook what you just covered. Great racing wisdom there. 🏁
Well said and all important points. No whiners. One bad guy on a team can spoil the experience for everyone. Attitude. You can teach someone with a good attitude anything. Each team needs strong leadership so guys know their jobs and can enforce policies and performance. Look at how Penske Racing conducts themselves for example of how to do it. Anybody can be like them with the right leadership. Great video.
Everyone needs to get along. No family members. Got it.
Nate is a pet peeve!!! He said it here folks! 😂😂
Good stuff, Bill. 👍🏻
🤣🤣
We all got along fantastic together, it's just my crew got along with no one else at the track. Several times I got called to the Scrutineering office after a race to find one of the boys corralled up "in the dogbox" with a bunch of purple faced and wild looking officials. Good times ........
Very well said! Same applies to a working band situation as well. Even though it's a hobby for most, you can only move forward with professionalism.
As I said all good stuff. You do a great job thanking all for their help, even after a bad night. We have all seen the helmet throwing guys!!
The person who makes the food is important....haha
Grreat video Billy Touched on alot of things that are very important. i dont what you guys put out im watching it. I enjoy your Channel you guys awesome. I think you guys are making a great choice to upload on a consistent basis . This will help your channel Grow. Heather Does a great Job .
Billy your 💯 % correct on everything!!
Been through all kinds of things over the years!!
Another great video. All good points, one I didn’t hear is NO HOT HEADS!! Fighting other teams folks is not good, being loyal is important. Did you have a hard time on the 12 not having your hands in the operation all the way. Did you not agree with someone else’s choices on set up?
Great video Billy, thanks.
Tell Billy Dad to not too many of the green mms. LOL 😂.
🤣😂
Very cool video. All true points that were made!
Well said big hammer!!!
Real cool indeed, would like to volunteer sometime 😊
When racing a modified in new York i would go all by myself....
Amen. Without saying any names, I can tell you that I got fed up with the owner/driver regarding problems getting the sprint car running. I am a master ASE certified technician with sprint car experience and know you need spark and gas to make it run. Dah...... Any way, best way to see if you have spark is put a timing light on it and drag it around. If the light flashes you have spark. Could be the fuel is turned off or what ever. Sucks that the owner didn't trust me to determine what was wrong with the car again. Quit helping him FOR NOTHING and will begin to help some other driver.
Everyone has to bring cold snacks and marijuanas!!! Win or lose, we booze 😂😂😂 jk jk
Not mentioning names had a guy said he tightin up the RR..NUT bc we were in a small hurry...and no nut on the axle when i came in and looked over car after finishing 12 th....never again
how about the crew tow's in with car and driver doesn't show. driver was out boating n camping.
