Thanks for the lift...I used to live in Salida for a number of years and worked at Monarch to ski free as well.. Those were indeed the days...Jobs to be had, mountains to climb, rivers to run, friends to love, hot springs, rock concerts, the old smelter shelter cost $30/mo and came with chickens.. two hogs, keggers & good times to remember today. Rambling I know but it is what it is.
Great video. Great video quality. I used to live in Gunnison and have driiven this route a lot. Planning on doing it for the first time on a motorcycle ( i.e. a fast motorcycle ) next summer. I'll probably spend most of the day just running up and down Monarch. Thanks again. Budmurf
Love these, traveled those mountains as a geologist for years...Bury me with my ancestors in Arkansas but take my heart out and spread the ashes in SW Colorado...the only true and faithful love I've known.
Thanks a ton for this great video. Need a 1080p/4k version though! Did this road in April '18 and it was absolutely fascinating. The very next day we were greeted with 80+ miles/hr winds and sandstorms (Alamosa-Salida), which ruined our GSD NP visit.
I LOVE THE WHOLE US, the whole 50 STATES...I'm from Pakistan but I don't wanna marry and create my family in Pakistan. I want to become the US citizen forever.
Welcome! We need more like you. Immigrants used to come to the United States for what our government DIDN'T do. Today they usually come for what it DOES do. That is a problem. America is for people who want nothing more than opportunity.
You went so dang fast. Was you on a motorcycle? Glad I didn't ride with you. Would like to see video where you are coming from Texas 🇨🇱 to Cortez Colorado ..I wanna see the 4 Corner Nation's. Sounds and looks awesome. The closest town, is Cortez Colorado. Or a little town in Utah and has no motels. Got any ideas
Hey! I grew up in Salida--hiking all those mountains! If you like this video, you may also like MY "Flying Nevada Route 50: Loneliest US Highway!" video...
Thanks for posting this too- I plan on driving this in ten days or so, going east to west(to Cimarron). How fast do cars go on US 50? What can I expect out there once I get out there in Cimarron, as I plan to be there for a while?
US 50. The Loneliest Highway! From West Sacramento CA To Ocean City Maryland!! So There! It's Not Just Nevada, Folks And Austin, Eureka And Ely (Rhymes With JULY And Not Greeley!) Anymore.
Some of this stretch was challenging, but seeing them come up at the speed they are in this video made my heart race. Absolutely beautiful especially in the fall. I scraped pegs several times on this stretch right here
