Amjad Islam Amjad is an Urdu Poet, Drama writer and lyricist from Pakistan. He has received many awards for his literary work and screenplay for TV, including pride of performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Amjad Islam Amjad reciting his ghazal/nazm at Jashn-e-Rekhta.
Jashn-e-Rekhta, a 2-Day grand Urdu Festival celebrated by Rekhta Foundation (www.rekhta.org) on March 14th and 15th at India International Centre, Delhi.
For two mesmeric days, some of the Urdu’s finest poets, authors and artists came together to bring alive Urdu’s lyrical beauty and resonating eloquence through live performances, panel discussions and interactive sessions.

Watch a star in the tender melancholic moonlight on a new-moon night
If it falls to your feet from the tree of sky
Then know that it was just a metaphor for my heart
If it doesn’t?
It is not possible that you look at someone
And the wall of life on their body won’t break
That they would not forget their existence
If you ever miss me
Would you touch the escaping wind?
You will find me in the fragrances
Search for me in the petals of roses
You will find me in the mirrors of the dew
If you don’t find me in stars, in dews, in fragrances
Then just look for me in your footsteps
I’ll be the dust present in the ever
Increasing distance in your journey
If you ever see a bright lamp
Then know that with every firefly I have fallen too
Would you pick the ash with your own hands
And diffuse it in some river?
As ash I will travel the oceans
Only to stop at some uncharted island
I will make my home their and will call your name
If you ever travel by the seas
Would you please stop by that island?

Apke en anmol haseen shabdo ko mera salaam shahab.. Apki lafzon ki es haseen chahat pe kurbaan.. Dil dimaag ko sukun dene vale apki un gazmo nagmo ko salaam... Bht gehre hai apke alfaaz .. Un alafaazon me raushan chirag ko salaam .. Un to hastiyan bht dekhi meri ankho ne.. Apki kashtiyo ko salaam.. Ek patanga bhi jra si lau per khud ko kurbaan krta hai.. Apki chahat aur wafaa per ye dil kurbaan...
