Awesome video. Made me laugh and think of my wife because I was talking about getting these SE846s and she said there is no way in hell you are spending $1000 on earphones. I am sending her this video to watch right now.
+jazic82 as long as the drivers aren't crushed or broken, they will last decades. First thing to break in headphones are the cables, which is easily replaceable for iem's with detachables. I can't wait to buy these. I currently have the IE80's from Sennheiser and these are incredible. Soundstage is a big +1 for me, and the IE80's is enormous for IEMS
Mp0wer No i haven't gotten them yet. I think i may get the ie800s instead. But tbh the ie80s sounded terrible to me at first. It was super muddy and incredibly veiled. As they burned in all of that changed. Clarity increased a LOT and the bass tightened and soundstage widened. I know it wasnt placebo because i let my friend try it when i first got them and he wasnt impressed either. He hadnt tried them again until after i burned them in for 100 hours, then i let him try it again after i found they sounded incredible now, and he also agreed they sounded much different. Im not exaggerating when i mean i HATED the ie80s when i first got them. I was insanely upset that i hardly used them and let them gather dust on my desk. I think burn in just varies between each product. But i agree the mids arent the best, but it also depends on the type of music youre listening to as well
These earphones werent meant for iphone use, it''s more for audiophile equipment that has a good dac, amp, etc to bring out what these earphones can really do. It's really just a waste of money if you re using your iphone as a source. The dac inside the iphone is very crappy.
hey i can't decide: Sennheiser IE800 vs Shure SE846 vs Westone W60 Im looking for Comfort, Clarity, and the iPhone remote is kinda handy but i can get upgradeable Moon Audio Silver Dragon Cables with remotes for 295.00 What do you think????? I tried: Grado RS2i SE535 I Own: Beyerdynamic DT770, 1350 Sennheiser Amperior
+Tyler Otani Dude I own both ie800 and se846 but not w60. I would go for se846 because it is really awesome, well designed, you could really see the tech inside it.
dude I'm not joking and I swear to my life that this review I listen on my SE846 and very soon I will have a second pair. I love them so much. These are the EARGAZM OF ALL EARZ!!! I'm happy to see u enjoy them.
Ha, ha! It reminded me of Kryz using a Leica for Instagram. An audiophile could appreciate the SE846, but not necessarily liking it due to personal preference or choices of music. I bought a pair too, years ago for my Fiio X5 hi-res portable music player.
You need a DAC and AMP. Not to be a troll but bro you are wasting your quality by just going out of the phone. You would have done better with a pair of $200 buds if you just use a phone.
Hello there! I have questions and don't know which I should get for this holiday season, the SE525 or the SE846. Please help me out here! Do the quality of the music that I listen to effect by these earphones? I listen to all kind of genres of music including in different language such as English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. I just normally download music from MP3 or RUclips websites to my Galaxy S7 and the audio quality usually okay, not FLACs or anything like that. Can an average audio quality give the SE846 great audio quality or it must be in FLAC, and justify that price tag? If the SE846 must be play in great audio quality source, then it's very hard for me to find good audio quality music in other language beside English and may as well I'll settle for the SE525, since it's hard to tell the difference with average audio quality go into these two. Any thoughts and advices would be appreciate! Thank you everyone!
This is just a wrong answer. But i'll keep this as short as possible. Using one of these headphones on a device like a phone (where the output is low quality what ever you do - hardware limited) Like iPhone's, iPod's, Sony's, Samsung's and what have you... So basically it's a waste of money on quality you wont ever hear except wit a hi-end DAC / Hi-Res Player / Lossless Source. Do you even have any of this? Are you sure you know what you are doing? Ask a professional and never ask stuff like that in a RUclipscomment ;P
This video was way too relatable. Guy who is enjoying every penny spent while everyone other you show it are like "Yeah, it's good I guess" or "Can't hear a difference". And the "that's what she said" at the end to top it off with her reaction. Too real.
schalazeal07 I was supposed to be trying them yesterday but Amazon sent me the se535s in an 846 box! 😠 But I'll let you know how they sound come Monday, if I remember to come back here. Lol.
Excellent choice kuya...i got the bronze version for less from ebay (bidding) and paired with a fiio X7, prehas kami ng reaction ni ate, naka-ngiti lang sa ganda ng musika!
That's a load of shit, these drivers are so efficient that they sound same out of an iPhone or dedicated amp. These IEMS are very very efficient. Even though iPhones have a higher output impedance it doesn't make a difference on the frequency.
R.P granted the SE846 requires 9Ohms but a dedicated DAC makes a great difference and the iPhone DAC is crap. Personally I got the Chord Mojo for my 846
Kryz, I wished Slater did do more research since you could have bought a custom pair of earphones for the same price but will give more utility in the long-term.
Man se846 in my opinion are better than IE800 because the sound is more natural and clear but sennheiser instead mid freq and high freq sound artificial but soundstage is better on ie800
These high end earphones is not meant for iphone. They need a good DAC and Amp to go along with it, otherwise it just sound very mediocre. Is like buying a Sennheiser HD800 and plug it into your iphone, Sure theres music coming out of it, but I bet your beat or any cheap headphones sounds better.
It's a tough choice between these and the IE800, but from a lot of well articulated reviews, people seem to favour the IE800's. SE846 have better mid-bass, but not necessarily better bass. Also, it's clear that everyone seems to think the soundstage and highs are way clearer on the IE800's. At 400 euros less I'd certainly go for the IE800's. Both great though, and a lot of people have both because they are both different, but great.
Hmm, I'm not sure what kind of "articulated" reviews you been watching but everyone had their own opinions and either one should be great, not only good, but great. I'm opposite with you that when I searched around and compared between the two, most people leaned toward the SE846 with a better deep bass punch along with great trebles and crossovers across all drivers. That's why I made a decision yesterday to purchase the SE846 at $300 more expensive than the IE800 and it will come tomorrow. Can't wait, cheer! Although I love the design of the IE800 and I'd bet that it's more comfortable than the SE846 when you're wearing it for long hours.
6969SpAcE6969 I see what you're saying since a good MP3 player probably had a build-in Amp with the DAC as well. I will receive the SE846 tomorrow and will try with just my Galaxy S7. I'm planning to add the AudioQuest Dragonfly Black (DAC/PreAmp) USB after a few days of listen with just my phone. I'm more leaning on convenient and portability and not feel like to carry around an extra MP3 player or an extra Amp/DAC that look like another phone. I enjoy good music quality but I'm not that hardcore :) What you think of my set up - phone Galaxy S7 / SE846 / Dragonfly Black v1.5 USB DAC/PreAmp?
So why the fuck does the google plus notification bell not allow you to reply to comments anymore? I swear to god they change shit just for the hell of it, even when it's clearly not for the better.
One of the best iems money can buy and he plugs them into a phone , if it turns out to be a piece of icrap .. even worse ..at least get a decent hi res player
@@lunao8816 Sad that nobody explained to you. Essentially phones usually don't have a great DAC and amp, and the Shure 846 has a high impedance curve so it does require an amp to power it (not a lot of power compared to some over ear cans). So essentially this guy isn't getting the full sound quality out of the se846.
have you ever tried CIEM? For my ears they are way better in isolating ofsound and sound quality. I will give you some well know brands in the industry: JH Audio, 1964 ears, Unique Melody, AAW, Ultimate Ears, Westone, Noble... Just go to Head-fi.org(research). We also have our own Filipino brand in CIEM industry which is FLIPEARS. Havent tried their demo but I read some good reviews of their triple driver CIEM. It cost like $300. Please do yourself a favor when you listen to music. Dont play the crappy lossy MP3 FORMAT. Use flac or alac (for apple users).
+Mr.Green Of course CIEM's are wayy better than any universal model. It's what all musicians use, and the clarity is unmatched, even for most circum-aural headphones. I just prefer iem's because they sound better to me for some reason
+Kenneth Chan I have the ie80's and i still love them. Demo'd the ie800 and the clarity is amazing, makes the already clear ie80s sound veiled. But I prefer the bass on the ie80's, thumpier and more subbass, but the ie800 has a cleaner bass
TRY TO LISTEN TO *PATRICIA BARBER - NARDIS* IN FLAC FORMAT OR ANY LARGE FORMAT , U CAN FIND IT ON UTUBE😉 AND WHEN SHE LISTEN TO IT SHE WILL GET SCARED 😂. THE SEPARATION OF INSTRUMENTS AND VOCAL FEMALE IS FENOMENAL. ALL SPECTRUM FREQ IS AMAZING!!! HOPE U WILL ENJOY THE SONG.😉

Just buy it. It's worth the hassle. Lol! You never need another pair for life.
I love how kryz is laughing so much with slater so cute oy 🥺
I have a pair and I love them so much it's so great to have them be customizable with the sound quality and fit etc.
Hey, could you write a little bit mir absolut the sound? I am unsure to buy them, because I would buy them from my savings
I hear these are the earphones that can make you cry. I am guessing that's because of both the sweet sweet sound quality and the price haha
+Nipzche make me cry because i filed for bankruptcy
+Kevin Zeng Yet every year we plop down cash for $1,000 iphones and don't even blink. These IEM's can last 10 years or more if you take care of them.

$1000 professional IEM played only on a smartphone?
They definitely should have had her listen through some crappy iPhone headphones first for comparison. I think then she'd have been blown away.
binge-watching your vlogs at 1am 🤩🤩
Big DUH. You need a high end amp to power those and truly appreciate the sound
Best $1000 of ever spent on anything there outstanding

You mean DAP?
OK so im from uk and these ear phones cost £700 here .. are really and truly worth that much, are they really that special?!
if u find them with 700£ is a bargain , my I both them from Oxford circus with 986£. I felt in love at the first sound!😉😇
I have these and they are great, but not the most expensive they make...check out the soon to be released electrostatic Shure earbuds. $3k.
Kryz, I wished Slater did do more research since you could have bought a custom pair of earphones for the same price but will give more utility in the long-term.
Have you tried the KSE 1200?
i just wanna know if this earphone is still alive hahahahaha
me too🤣
Sameee

Justice League thank fucking god someone agrees with me. i see so many people using these earphones with inbuild dacs. such a waste imho
forgive their ignorance :-)
not really, HD800's are 300 Ohm
put the name of the songs you tried please...
I really like shure but dont have money for it
9 Ohm. Holy craaaaap

Kimo Kiko after some time I'd go with the se846s and pair it with a great mp3 player. checkout sony's highend mp3 players.
6969SpAcE6969 Why would you want to pair the SE846 with a great MP3 player? Because.....?
Because it totally affects how they sound? Play them on a phone, and then play them on something like the NWZ -ZX2. Massive difference.
6969SpAcE6969 I see what you're saying since a good MP3 player probably had a build-in Amp with the DAC as well. I will receive the SE846 tomorrow and will try with just my Galaxy S7.
