Just wanna say that im so happy to have found this episode of yours. My girlfriend loves Harry potter and I can't wait to make all this stuff for her furthermore, your videos and a lot of Gordon Ramsay videos have definitely sparked my love for cooking so I really appreciate that you're doing these vids
Anyone forget Harry knows how to cook? Imagine the morning of his and Ginny honeymoon she wakes up to him cooking breakfast and that night she cooks its awful. Harry has had the equivalent of Gordon Ramsey as a cooking motivator growing up. Ginny can't compete with the level of perfection harry was forced to keep up with.
During these hard times I want to say thank you for giving me the knowledge to be a better home cook my wife and I have tried out many recipes you have done and they are awesome thank you again
I don't know why but for some reason every time I saw this in my recommendations I read it as 'the Harry Potter Special' and thought that was what the pie was called
Maybe it's just years of conditioning from Cornish friends, but to me that isn't a pasty. To be more pasty authentic, I'd be thinking a savoury filling of cubed (not minced) beef, diced pumpkin, onion and maybe a little potato.
keios But that's not a pumpkin pasty, is it? That said, I could imagine a more savory version with pumpkin puree, sage, salt, pepper, onions, ground maple sausage and, if you're feeling adventurous, a little goat cheese.
And you bolded your statement so everyone could see how smart you were for figuring that layman shit out? Well, wouldn't want that effort going to waste. *pat pat pat*
Coming from the UK, A pumpkin pasty would have been savoury. So a cornish pasty that has meat and some veg. in it, the meat would be replaced with "chipped" pumpkin. So would have have gone in raw and cooked in the pastry. Cornish pasty has been know to have half meat and half dessert, but that would have been something like Apple and/or berries. LOVING the treacle pudding!!!
I made the treacle tart yesterday with a 50/50 mix of dark molasses and agave syrup (it's all I had). It was great, and I really liked the smoky aftertaste from the dark molasses.
I would have presumed a pumpkin pastie would have been savoury, not sweet. I was thinking like a samosa in pastie shape. English and Australians eat pumpkin as a savoury item.
If you like treacle tart, I wonder how you would like caramel apple pies. They're a popular dessert in Quebec (I'm not sure about the rest of Canada) and I'm honestly not sure why they haven't become popular in the states. It's like a delicious apple pie had a baby with a traditional smooth sugar pie. So good!
Everyone breathe...its most likely because he has clearly been to Harry Potter world at Universal, and the pumpkin pasties they have there are sweet, and since they are backed by JK Rowling and Warner Bros, he probably assumed that’s the way she meant them to be in the book. I️ mean, they have chocolate frogs that leap out of their boxes... I’m sure there are things more shocking and controversial than a pasty that is sweet. Oh & great job, congrats on your book, thanks for doing a Harry Potter episode!
There is such a thing as dessert pasties, and they're not some fancy modern interpretation either. Traditional Cornish pasties were like a compact two-course dinner for Cornish miners. The thick pastry edge on the outside was like a handle so the miners could hold the pasty with their dirty hands, then throw the edge away. The filling was half savoury, half sweet. One side would be like beef and onion, the other apple and custard.
I dont know anything and im not trying to tell you how to live your life but in the great british baking show they say to avoid your pie crust from shrinking like yours did you should trim it after the blind bake i think. i dont know if you care about that but then youd get more filling.
Siner666 lol, the Fourth of July special where that cook creamed the corn! That is 100% Army, some ass puts hours of extra work into making it so he is the only one that likes what he is making....
There's something honestly so nostalgic about this video to me. I grew up in the UK, and we had treacle tart all the time. It reminds me of being at school with my friends, and long summer evenings
for a non-alchoholic butterbeer you can use the recipe i made for my sister's birthday! -vanilla or butter pecan ice cream, blend with milk and butterscotch flavour then freeze again -half fill glass with ice cream -pour vanilla cream soda over it -add a generous amount of (ideally homemeade) whipped cream and butterscotch sauce -add butterscotch peices and caramel candies -done!
I am so ready for your next cooking book. My father and I grew apart when I went to college. In a attempt to make amends I bought him and myself a copy and we made the pastry from “inglorious bastards”. Your book had helped bring us closer. Thank you
Fun fact the crust on pasties isn’t decorative it was originally meant tone a sort of handle for miners who take Cornish pasties for lunch, they could eat it while holding the crust without getting the pie all dirty

Treacle Tart is a gift from gods. When I was in primary school the cooks would make a huge batch of mini individual tarts every friday for after lunch. We were allowed 2 because they were tiny and you could pick between treacle, jam or lemon curd and I always picked the treacle tarts (although lemon curd tarts are great too).
You know you did a great job. Now let's see your take on a savoury pumpkin pasty. REALLY curious to see how you'd whip that up. Hope you do!! (Great channel btw.)
One small change, don't trim the tart crust flush to the pan before baking or you get the shrinkage you see in the video. Leave like an inch of overhang and then trim it with a serrated knife right after blind baking
Pumpkin pasties in Harry Potter are almost definitely savoury. Pasties are a savoury dish and squashes are almost exclusively used in savoury dishes in the UK.

furthermore, your videos and a lot of Gordon Ramsay videos have definitely sparked my love for cooking so I really appreciate that you're doing these vids
Bro that's so wholesome. Best of luck to you.
It's so nice that you're cooking for her! Hope it goes well =).
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for a Harry Potter special.
Raghav Wadhwa same here trust me I've commented it a few times I'm so happy right now 😍🙌
How can you hate this guy? i fucking love him
he's a hipster XD but I still love him :p
During these hard times I want to say thank you for giving me the knowledge to be a better home cook my wife and I have tried out many recipes you have done and they are awesome thank you again
Funny thing, butterbeer was actually a real beverage in Tudor England. It consisted of beer, cream, eggs, sugar and “a dish of sweet butter”.
*I just realized the illustration on your book cover is a combination of film reel and pizza. Clever.*
And you bolded your statement so everyone could see how smart you were for figuring that layman shit out?
Well, wouldn't want that effort going to waste. *pat pat pat*
That escalated quickly
I enjoyed his comment enough to give it a thumb up ;)
well hello there, i did not notice that!
thanks
Sarca Gausjz Ashur Rebaddra Take a chill pill. Life is good.
Calm down about the pasty. He was making his interperetation and it looked delicious
Butter beer ❤️💛
The amount of people complaining in this reply section is bewildering
sheentheexplorer Two Words, Universal Studios
You can get it at the Harry Potter Experience, it supposedly tastes INCREDIBLY sweet and is as such really disgusting
The official stuff is absolutely manky. This fare looks much better!
Try Leffe Dunkel with a shot or two of butterscotch schnapps.
1:43 why was this so funny when he walked away with it?
Haha
"I'm whippin' it until it's not too stiff" lol
I made the treacle tart yesterday with a 50/50 mix of dark molasses and agave syrup (it's all I had). It was great, and I really liked the smoky aftertaste from the dark molasses.
RIP, My beloved Hagrid
I would have presumed a pumpkin pastie would have been savoury, not sweet. I was thinking like a samosa in pastie shape. English and Australians eat pumpkin as a savoury item.
Since I can't find canned pumpkin here anywhere I'm so happy having you show how to go from scratch
Hagrid will be missed.
Please do the hot chocolate from The Polar Express since Christmas is approaching?
I live in the southern hemisphere and I find this highly offensive.
Simple Bru Coffee Co. I am highly offensive and I find this southern hemisphere.

XXX RICKACION You combined two of my favorite things, Rick and Morty and XXXTENACION
You should download the new apple update and get your “I” back. Lol
Leo King already done, in fact I did that right after I posted this after realizing how annoying it was lol.
I was honestly freaking out. A pasty is not sweet (not that I have ever had anyway).
Throw the edge away? You heretic. No coal miner with his salt throws away away pastie crust.
Anything with "Harry Potter" as title got me clicking 🙌
READ. ANOTHER. BOOK.
Harry Potter hentai tentacle porn.
Dumbledore was a gay and he bleached his assh#le.
Are you sad you didn't get any of that?

I dont know anything and im not trying to tell you how to live your life but in the great british baking show they say to avoid your pie crust from shrinking like yours did you should trim it after the blind bake i think. i dont know if you care about that but then youd get more filling.
The music in this video is super nice. It’s the music that could get me through finals week or bad traffic
This was so fun and made me laugh! Thanks, I had a pretty rough day and this was a little bit of happy.
I used lard instead of butter when I made pie in my foods class and it actually made the crust taste so amazing
Can you do the special food of M*A*S*H like spam lamb and other foods?
Siner666 The DRIEST martini.
YES!!
Siner666 heck yeah
Leg of lamb with mint jelly
Siner666 lol, the Fourth of July special where that cook creamed the corn! That is 100% Army, some ass puts hours of extra work into making it so he is the only one that likes what he is making....
There's something honestly so nostalgic about this video to me. I grew up in the UK, and we had treacle tart all the time. It reminds me of being at school with my friends, and long summer evenings
Could you do the food from Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook Off? Lol I always wondered if that fruit loop coated fried chicken would taste any good!
mmiiaa HOLY shit! Another person other than myself remembers that movie??? I want to know what was in that sauce!
Sounds absolutely disgusting. I want two.
That movie is the source of my love for pb&j smoothies. I've always wanted to try his sort of like bbq sauce as well.
EDDIE DOGS FOR EVERYONE!!
Dude use “pie crust” and “vodka” in the same sentence and I GOTTA see how this ends
People in the UK start drinking at like 12 years old so I wouldn’t balk at the alcohol in the story lol
for a non-alchoholic butterbeer you can use the recipe i made for my sister's birthday!
-vanilla or butter pecan ice cream, blend with milk and butterscotch flavour then freeze again
-half fill glass with ice cream
-pour vanilla cream soda over it
-add a generous amount of (ideally homemeade) whipped cream and butterscotch sauce
-add butterscotch peices and caramel candies
-done!
please make food from the Ghibli movies!
Awesome video.
MORE HP PLEASE!
Can you get your cocktail friend to come on and make some pumpkin juice or fire whiskey?
I am so ready for your next cooking book.
My father and I grew apart when I went to college. In a attempt to make amends I bought him and myself a copy and we made the pastry from “inglorious bastards”. Your book had helped bring us closer. Thank you
I love the aggressive reaction to the tart so much
"A cauldron cake!"
"A pumpkin pasty!"
"A wizard card!"
"An owl treat!"
*"BOOGER FLAVOR?"*
I love how you dont edit out mistakes
Can you make Gumbo from The Princess and the Frog?
Fun fact the crust on pasties isn’t decorative it was originally meant tone a sort of handle for miners who take Cornish pasties for lunch, they could eat it while holding the crust without getting the pie all dirty
Some timestamped links for anyone who comes back to this video in the future

Lol sweet ? It's more likely to be a savoury pumpkin, onions, veg pasty in the UK 😊
BwB drinking game: bingewatch and take a shot every time the phrase "shaggy dough" is mentioned.
I'm a little drunk at this point.
I've been trying that for every time he says "kosher salt", but I've had to limit it to one mention per video for the sake of my liver.
Wanna get really drunk. A half shot (because we don't want to die) every time he says ""kosher salt" or "tiny whisk"
Also when he mentions "letting the flavors get to know each other"
Treacle Tart is a gift from gods. When I was in primary school the cooks would make a huge batch of mini individual tarts every friday for after lunch. We were allowed 2 because they were tiny and you could pick between treacle, jam or lemon curd and I always picked the treacle tarts (although lemon curd tarts are great too).
DO MRS TWEEDYS CHICKEN PIE FROM CHICKEN RUN!!!!
MapOfCampus oh my god yes, this!
I want a sweetroll so bad now
HELL YES
but i dont want to be a pie
but i don't want to be in a pie....I don't like gravy...
Extremely almost freezing. I can hear my old English teachers screaming.
You know you did a great job. Now let's see your take on a savoury pumpkin pasty. REALLY curious to see how you'd whip that up. Hope you do!! (Great channel btw.)
Congrats on your wish being granted!
One small change, don't trim the tart crust flush to the pan before baking or you get the shrinkage you see in the video. Leave like an inch of overhang and then trim it with a serrated knife right after blind baking
Please make Minny Jackson's Chocolate Pie from The Help (But not "Miss Hilly's Special Pie"!!!!) LOL
My life is simple.
Video has Harry Potter in title.
I click on video.
As a Brit, that treacle tart took me back to my childhood! Lol.
Pumpkin pasties in Harry Potter are almost definitely savoury. Pasties are a savoury dish and squashes are almost exclusively used in savoury dishes in the UK.
