It was a pleasant surprise to hear this live in Cleveland. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of islands like I am now and did not fully appreciate this songs beauty. Long live the King.
@@stefanlacny814 well if early 80’s is late than I’m VERY late. I only started my Crimson journey in 2020, I was born in 03’. When I saw them live I was only a real big fan of the larks era and the first two albums. It really opened me up to their whole catalogue, and I appreciate it all. I’m still trying to get into their 90’s - 2000’s era, sounds to cheesy to me right now.
@@frizzonofficial Gosh, that's impressive for a 19 - 20-year-old. I consider myself a very big Crimson fan, but I wouldn't worry too much about their 90s - 2000s era. Thrak has some excellent moments, so is worth persevering with. The Construktion of Light and The Power to Believe don't do it for me. But by all means give them a go. Good luck!
🥲 Es muy extraña la sensación que me hace sentir esta canción, me pone un poco melancólico, quizá hasta un poco triste, pero con ese ligero toque de esperanza, de sentir que al final todo estará bien, sin importar que sea lo que pase
This lineup did a wonderful job playing old Crimson classics like this one; I heard it live twice on the Mexico City concerts (2017-2019). However, my favourite version is from the Chicago 2017 show.
I agree, although this is a beautiful rendering, there's something very special about the original, for one thing the Trumpet sounds more natural than the Sax and of course it has the wonderful Keith Tippett 😊
For a drummer, Jeremy Stacey certainly can tickle those ivories!
the very best islands live version

I'm glad you appreciate Islands now. I was a little late to it (early 80s), but it's been a regular on my turntable ever since.

The best song of all time.
Jakko did a superb job here!
Always claimed he is/was Crimson's best vocalist. And that has not changed.
Tocan mi Isla. Me tocan a mí.
Fripp not playing his guitar after those two chords in the first chorus until the last repetition really touches me.
Absolutely Beautiful , who's playing the piano ?🌈
Jeremy Stacey I guess
υπέροχο όχι απλα καλό!!
Beautiful!

It's certainly big quality, but I still prefere the first version.
