That’s what I love LOVE LOVE about this pattern, is how hugely versatile this pattern is. I’ve knit it many times in different yarn size and weight and needles with little adjustments for myself and sizes and have gotten different gorgeous sweaters, because I know what to knit for myself with these yarns etc! But I really do love this pattern a lot !
I’m such a dork. Sometimes I hear a question, and think it’s a simple “duh” answer. Then I continue to listen, and your response is so enlightening. And once again I remind myself that I always have more to learn. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us (me)! And I LOVE your colors worn today!
Love the idea of a Brioche Cowl in different yarn weights. I personally would love a pattern written up for sport weight yarns. Or - just perhaps - you could write the pattern based on measurements like you did with your Traveler Cowl. 😉 Thank you for sharing your patterns and doing these episodes every week. 😊
Sport weight brioche cowl, if I had to choose but I would totally knit both sport and worsted! As always, I love drinking my Friday morning coffee and watching your I’ll Knit If I Want To Videos! Happy making! ❤
Andrea, I look so forward to Friday morning Spinning and coffee with you! You are such a joy to me! Sport weight sounds great to me. I am a fanatic at your Drk Everyday Socks and Sweater patterns. They are my go to Happy Knitting projects.😊 ❤🎉❤
My stash is almost all fingering weight so I love those kind of patterns. I am almost done with the front of my Traveler Hoodie. Hoping to finish by the first of February.
As I sit here wrapped up in my Nightshift out of Ewetopia Helix Fine, that's the shawl I would recommend. Mine is so beautiful and warm and cozy. One of my all-time favorite knits. (Also, I've yet to tackle brioche so it's an easier knit.)
Nebula in acid green and mint green is gorgeous on you! Thank you for doing the show and shouting out a BC yarn maker, Hinterland. I’m currently casting on Briochealicious using Tern (BFL & Masham) from Small Bird Workshop, another BC yarn company (she closed her business recently). Your tutorial videos are excellent. I always need your Garter tab cast on. Im currently also knitting a brioche scarf using squishy alpaca-merino sport weight yarn. Yes, I’m very keen on a brioche cowl! I have more sport than worsted in my stash which ballooned during the pandemic…so that’s my bias, although I probably can find some gorgeous worsted weight yarn. ❤
I love the cowls/ shawls that have different yarn weight options because these are such great gifts and stash busters! I started out knitting with worsted and Aran weight mostly but in the last couple of years have moved more to dk/ sport weights. Consequently my stash is full of odds and ends of all these weights but more worsted/ Aran that could be used in cowls. Also as a new spinner I have been spinning on the thicker side (worsted/ Aran) so that would be my vote. However any pattern that can be adapted or knit to measurements rather than rows is great for using all the beautiful yarns that accumulate over the years. Thank you for your podcast and designs- I love listening every week and always learn something!
For the person who wanted to increase the leg of their socks: very simple way to do this is to add one purl stitch in every "purl ridge" of your ribbing. I did a lot of socks like this and I use this trick when I make sock that go mid-calf. When the socks are not worn you can see the increases a little bit but once worn, the increases are very hidden and it makes very comfortable socks!
I needed this discussion of gauge for Nebula when the pattern came out😂😂! I wanted to make the sweater using a single yarn so I chose a DK. Had the same problem with gauge so then I added a lace weight to it. It seemed fine when I gauge swatched but now that the sweater is finished, it feels bullet proof!😮. I still love it but can only wear it when it’s super cold. Live and learn!
I have a different i-cord maker. Got it from Michaels and I love it!! It has a handle for turning like your ball winder and all you need is something to weigh down the beginning of the i-cord!! To the writer of question #1, if you do Andrea's suggestions for branching out the rib on the sock could you please, please put a photo on your project page of the DRK Everyday Socks by Drearene Knits and I'll be sure to click 'most helpful' on your project. A big thank-you to all you knitters who add helpful tips to your projects page. I always view projects first by most favourites and second by most helpful.
I would love to make a DK weight brioche cowl. I think it would be really cool to do one solid color and marl 2 fingering weight yarns (using up scraps) as my contrast color
Sport or DK for me. Brioche cowl! I love my cordsmith for i cord bind off. And I got the small one to make a cord for my traveler hoodie. I am going to try adding a few increases at the back center of my everyday socks to use up the full 50g but accommodate my calf
How do you grade patterns? I like designing patterns but writing the pattern in multiple sizes is intimidating so I have stuck to single size shawls and scarves so far but what if I design gloves or a sweater…? I have never used a tech editor, just checked patterns myself, but if I did use a tech editor would they do the grading too? Or is that the job of the designer?
I finally knit a Weekender and I LOVE it! It's about 2 inches shy of how long I really want it. I will wear it with dresses and I plan to make another one. I was thinking....can I cast on and knit a few inches, do the sleeves and neck and then pick up from just before my cast on and knit down?
For the Moon mint pullover, if I’m in between sizes 3-4 and would like to make the sleeves longer, would you recommend 4 skeins of the MC or would 5 be better?
Random question but where are your glasses from? I love them. I’ve been on the search for a nice good pair. Love your videos and all the content, I’m a new knitter and I’m learning so much!
Hola ¿ cuando editará sus patrones en español? Soy principiante en tejer y me gustan sus diseños. Espero que todos sus patrones sean ,también en español. Gracias

Love that Nebula sweater! Such a happy colour!
It is not a Friday, if I don’t get to watch you. Thanks for your dedication. Love you

I vote for sport weight cowl! Thanks for another fun episode ❤
I love everything DK!!!!
Sport weight I live in New Zealand and my go to weights are sport or fingering and occasionally lace 😊
Nebula is one of my favorite sweaters I have made! Planning my second at something this year
Andrea, I look so forward to Friday morning Spinning and coffee with you! You are such a joy to me!
Sport weight sounds great to me.

Sport weight brioche would be my number one choice!!!!
I knit my Nebula in these same colors and it is definitely my most highly complimented knit! 🩵💚
Thank you!
My stash is almost all fingering weight so I love those kind of patterns. I am almost done with the front of my Traveler Hoodie. Hoping to finish by the first of February.
I love my nebula. I did a short sleeve version and used alpaca/recycled sari silk dk in pale pink. It’s so nice.
Sport is my vote!
A vote for sport for the new plumped up sibling!
All yarns are beautiful, but if I'd have to chose one, Sport or even fingering would be my go-to yarn :-)

Love your podcast! I would prefer a sport weight yarn pattern!

I just learned how to brioche and I'm obsessed. I want to knit everything with that stitch now!

Spinning Inspired.
I vote for both weights!
Thank you for the Cordsmith love and for your inclusive designing and testing practices! It means so much when so many designers seem to NOT.
I love your giant needles in the corner of you work space. No show and tell this week, no spinning ? I so much like to spin vicariously with you 🤣

I would love to hear more about how you create sweaters. I’m fascinated by it as well as possibly would want to try my hand at it.

French knitting dolly spool knitting demonstration
I had a laughing fit when you asked yourself "was that a real memory?" about Stephen West making enough i-cords for a hammock
I love Dk the best
Sport for sure :)
I’d go worsted, please! 💚
Sport or DK for me. Brioche cowl!

Team worsted AND sport ⭐️ Trifecta please!
Sport is my vote.

Sport for the cowl
I vote worsted! :-D xo

I need a larger leg on my socks, so I just go up a needle size instead of adding stitches.
Worsted - but both works too!
team sport! not a poll but there ya go
Also SPORT OR FINGERING for BRIOCHE question by the way!!
Random question but where are your glasses from? I love them. I’ve been on the search for a nice good pair. Love your videos and all the content, I’m a new knitter and I’m learning so much!
I vote sport😄
Random ? …. What color paint is your background wall? 😃

Team sport here
I would definitely prefer sport - worsted it too bulky for me in most cases
I would choose sport weight.
I would love worsted
Voting for sport weight, please.
I'm going to be selfish because I have so much sport weight in my stash and vote sport weight for a sister to Plumped Up Cowl. 😁
I vote sport weight
Worsted
Worsted.
