If you go Malaysia, try get a good hotel with buffet breakfast. Then you can sample some local cuisine which taste ok. In Penang, go for char key teow, assam laksa, hokkien mee, chendol, and roti chanai. In Ipoh, bak kut teh, dim sum, Ipoh white coffee, kaya butter toast, chicken bean sprout, paper-wrap chicken. KL have good stuff but I'm not familiar.
