Thank you for the information. Dealership wants $700 for one sensor smh. Purchased each sensor on EBay for $120
this video and your description is saving my tail big time..im going through this right now...1000 thank yous
You made a fantastic video. Thanks by the thousands..
Def doser you can use aftermarket they are $40 on ebay and we charge at my shop $280 for labor . If you add both nox sensor we do for $400 all labor
Just bought a mack pinnacle engine light is on
So I'm about to replace these parts on it
Your video is been so helpful thank you!
The MP8 is a workhorse. Almost bulletproof. It’s that damn emissions crap that ruined that truck.
You're a real truck driver who works on your own rig.the rest are steering wheel holders
Great job doing that yourself. I changed my knock sensor the other day and the dealer charged me $700 for the sensor alone. Almost $1400 when they are done
You are very helpfull
I've just changed mine yesterday both pre'post Nox. It was hard to get them out. 1st time in 225k miles in my truck. The good thing is I didn't pay nothing cuz it's covered under warranty. Buying extended warranty is worth it sometimes
Thank you
Could you please help me whit the position of the coolant hoses on the doses valve?
Thanks for the info that's interesting, please my question is which one of those sensors is the DOC sensor
I’m not sure there is a DOC sensor. I Think it’s just the 2 NOX sensors. I haven’t had the Mack in 2 years. Been awhile since I have looked at one.
I have a 5394 5 code on my truck is that the same code that you have when you replace the dozen valve? Thx if can help

Do you know by the chance the part number for the doser valve for volvo d 13
There are a few different ones. To be safe, just call any Volvo/Mack dealer and ask for the part number for the DEF Doser Valve. They will match it up with your VIN. Then you can order it on eBay for 1/2 off
Can you please give me the part numbers for the pre nox and post nox sensors also for the dozer valve I have the exact same truck with these exact problems...
Pre-NOx Sensor 22303390 $220.00 + $10.00 Shipping On Ebay
Post-NOx Sensor 22303391 $230.00 +$10.00 Shipping On Ebay
DEF Dosage Valve 22391565 - $265.00 + $15.00 Shipping On Ebay
Those were what I got them for on Ebay.
@@DrivingByBraille Thank you to help others part#22391563 will work for doser valve
I'm not sure. Just call a Volvo Dealer and make sure. It looks the same, But the 22391565 Is what the dealer gave me for my 2011 Mack. Always call to double check, they go by your VIN number. You don't want to throw a different part on and then it throw codes, or not work at all and ruin your whole SCR System. Not worth it to take a chance on that stupid system, it's too sensitive.
Did it gave you a code? If it did what was it. Or how you need it to be change.. I'm having trouble with mine.. thanks in advance
Yes, it kept popping up a code but I don’t remember what it was. Mainly it was staying I needed to do a forced parked regen every 800 or so miles. And while I was doing the NOx sensors I decided to change the doser while I had the side covers off.
@@DrivingByBraille oh thanks I appreciate. I have a code that I cant get rid off its SA 0 4094 FMI 1.. I changed a few parts but cant getvrid off it
I don"t understand why they sell dosing valve as a assembly. Its made with regular fuel injector plus cooler core around. why they are not just selling injector for $60 - $80 just to fix it.
Vitaliy S why do they have a 10000% mark up. Once they have the mold and the material. The first hundred or so is what cost. After that, it’s pure profit. They make millions of these things, but yet they are still $800 from the dealer.
There are 2 little rubber hoses, about 2 inches long. They make the diameter 2mm smaller so you HAVE to buy them from Volvo. So a 10 cent piece of rubber hose cost $100.00 AND YOU NEED 2!!! AMERICA!!
Would you happen to have parts numbers
Do you know where the DEF quality sensor is located?
I don't believe there is a sensor. 9 times out of 10 it's your NOx sensors. Thats kinda how the computer knows, if the Pre NOx is reading High NO2, Sprays the DEF, and then the Post NOx is still reading High NO2 then the computer will say the DEF is bad because the ammonia isn't breaking down the NO2. But it is, just one of the NOx sensor is reading wrong. Hope that helps.
In short. Try to change Both NOx sensors. Let the truck do a few Passive regens or parked regens if its that bad. And the code should clear if that was the problem.
@@DrivingByBraille thank you!!!
Nice video, but i just dont understand the butchering that's happening when it comes to swaping parts at dealer. I think it's a total scam and it's a shame.! All these parts are so simple to change idk why they charge that much. By the way i drive 2004 emissions free.
Alen Kendic agreed. Parts for non-emission trucks are going to start being outrageous pretty soon. And, unless you fix your own truck, finding people to work on them is going to be difficult. Because we are now living in a world where if the computer don’t tell them what is wrong, they can’t fix it. Long are the days where people actually diagnose the problem because that actually takes skills.
Hi, you said the computer would learn the new equipment in like 5 cycles. Is that 5 key cycles? How many did it actually take to learn on yours? Thanks.
The key cycle thing doesn’t work with Mack. At least I could never get it to work. Just driving and doing the normal thing. Usually took 2-3 days of driving to clear.
Just curious, during the couple of days of normal operation waiting for the computer to learn the new parts, what’s going on with the truck? Codes? Derated? Was it operating normally? Thank you.
Johnny Abercrombie it’s going to run how it did before you put the part on. Once it does a passive regen and the computer recognizes everything is back to normal it will reset. I would recommend taking it some place to do a force regen since you are in partial derate. It may not reset in partial derate. As soon as my codes came up, and I knew what it was. I immediately change that part out. I didn’t wait until the truck started to derate.
Ya, unfortunately It threw out the codes and told me I had one hour until derate, so I really had no recourse at that point. I appreciate your insight.
Johnny Abercrombie did you end up resolving your problem?
Ive replaced all those parts you replaced still leaks...damn shame..!
Maybe the lines are bad.
Can you give the links on ebay for parts please

Sure looks like def leaking outta that bellows or flexpipe joint. You sure you haven't taken that off and verified you don't have a thick cake of dried DEF in the passage between it and the DEF injector? ... And if i had to replace that injector 4 times i would definitely be looking for the real problem. For instance, the DOC that heats the exhaust for the dpf and scr. If it's not hot enough, you might get high outlet nox and the def injector will get the blame in your fault codes.
I think this is the issue I'm having. I've had buildup at that same spot and every time I put it in the shop they change something and it never fixes the issue. What would be the reason its not getting hot enough?
@@Truth_Tella the DOC is responsible for helping to heat the exhaust to make everything hot enough. That stands for diesel oxidation catalyst. If you have a blue or gray wire on your outlet nox sensor ....... You could figure out what to do with it
