Great job! I always figure them out by myself and then check on line to catch a couple details. You're dead on with the intro...the Dm doesn't hold the whole time. However: 2 Things.... 1. Try adding a quick G7 on the first part of the word "luxury", but end on the C7 on the end of the word. 2. Are you sure about the Maj7 in the bridge? I think it's just a plain ol' F Doesn't matter...just details...but that's where the "devil" is lol. You have a good ear.
FINALLY! The correct version! Thanks my good man... All the major to minor, plus the 7ths were messing me up! (and apparently a lot of other "teachers") Thanks again. *SUBSCRIBING*
Nice tutorial! I personally play some things slightly different for example I play the intro EXACTLY the same, but I think I use A, although I will now try the A7. And just after the verse before the chorus, you can play the Dm with the bass. So the bass goes something like 0 -0 (4th string) 0-0 (5th string) then 0 (4th string) 0 - 2 - 4 ( 5th string) you can hear the fill on the song, play this whilst strumming the Dm/D chord. I also sometimes play around with the bass notes when playing the C7 and F chords in the chorus. Also another thing is I play the F as a barre chord major in the song, but I shall try this way out to see how it sounds. Either way nice tutorial you helped me figure out some parts I was missing.
Thanks a lot for this great version and easy-to-follow demonstration. I love your videos. One respectful suggestion, for anyone learning this, is in the chorus if you substitute the regular D7 for a Bar chord at the 10th and the G7 for a bar at the 3rd, they give you a great 'vampy' sound, especially if you keep lifting off and on. Another happy bonus with barring at the 10th and 3rd is it's the same chord shape so you can switch easily (which makes me think this is what is in the recording). And to get to the 10th from the verse you can do a simple three note run down low E string (fifth, seventh and ninth fret) which takes you down the dusty end nicely.
I learned the same descending chord baseline from Justin. Took forever to get the pinky finger movement down. Then, I saw a Kinks video from way back, where Dave Davies played the opening on the E, A and D strings (I think) only. Some tabs have it. Much simpler to play, if not as full as the chords. AW, thanks for a great job.
Really nice!! I play the A7 with my ring and middle fingers ((B and G strings 2nd fret) and reach up for the G and F bass notes on the low E with my pinky and index fingers. Never learned how to use my thumb!!
Another top lesson. For the intro I've learnt to play A7 using fingers 2 and 3 which frees finger 1 for the ist fret low E note - just incase people don't like using the thumb. Thanks again.
Because I stumbled on your Kinks tutorials by accident, this old fart guitarist has sidestepped from fingerpickin' -to learning how to play my old favourites properly, love those old Kinks and Small Faces songs, takes me back........
Thanks a lot man, i love playing this song but the start always had me struggling. There's a nice fill before the bridge that you can play on the 5th string, 0 2 4. Sets it up nicely. Is there any chance you could do some songs off Muswell hillbillies? God save the kinks!
learnt this thanks to your vid. i know a few songs on guitar but this best by far. if u have any ideas of any more songs with simular run throughs can you let me know?
There's no telling what happened to him he just disappeared hopefully he didn't pass There were some people I found during covid during lockdown that I realized over the last few years are no longer with us What's the guy out in Colorado Larry L another one. I didn't know he had checked out
Hey mate , thanks very much for the lesson ! My little hands struggled to play it as per the record so I really appreciate the way you made it work ! Keep it up my man
I don't know why guys like Pete and others bother to take the time to try and help people learn when A--H----s like you feel you have to make not just negative but ignorant comments on their lesson. You and the "Duck" I mean Duke should both put up your own sites and then just flame each other and save the rest of us having to put up with you.
Brilliant, thanks very much.

@liverbird66 Yeah - it's just my own interpretation. Wouldn't have a clue if is technically right. Probably not. :-)
thanks, now I can play my best song !!
Nice one!
Really good, thanks! However, I don't think the Fmaj7 fits. Straight F sounds better to me.
I love it. Good song, thanks for covering.
Nice Tutorial man
Excellent
Amazing song, amazing interpretation, amazing tutorial. Thank you very much, going to play this way only :)
FINALLY! The correct version! Thanks my good man...

try playing the A7 with ring and middle fingers which leaves the pointer available to play the F note on the 1st fret E string.
I love this song and find your teaching style very easy to follow. Thanks for another super lesson!
@IanZG1
Try playing Dm with your pinky instead of using third finger
great tutorial thank you so much

Thanks a lot man, i love playing this song but the start always had me struggling. There's a nice fill before the bridge that you can play on the 5th string, 0 2 4. Sets it up nicely.

Didn't think their lead guitarist was that savy on the guitar.
would not have been as good without him!
except for the run at the beginning of this song, this was the worst lesson i've had
the misfortune to try to follow...so friggin' broken up...wtf?
