You should go to Indonesia especialy jakarta someday, and also we have Marugame Udon 😁 similar name right. And many more delicious food under AUD 5. 😂😂
What would be the point? Tourists aren't gonna go out there. For Sydney locals driving all the way out there would make it not cheap at all. And if you live near there then you already know about those places, so....
Love This video! I know it’s a couple of years on so thought I’d let you know some price changes as I happened to go around the city today: Burke Street: sadly the price of the sausage roll has gone up from $5.50 to an eye-watering $7. Guess they’re trying to make up for the loss of Covid foot-traffic over the past 2 years. Harry De Wheels: I bought a Tiger Pie today and that’s gone up to $9.60 (ouch!!!). Sydney’s getting more expensive!
Thank you! Great! There is so much variety, ethnically and flavor-wise, in this list, and not just dollar menu items from Subway, McD's and other common fast food chains. In future lists, it would be interesting to see a map with bullseyes to see how close in proximity each location is to each other.
The food court next to wollies town hall, you need to go down the stairs...they have good thai and hainanese chicken rice and their portion is huge! they're my most go to place for lunch. :)
Sayong Curry Laksa at this food court serves a mean array of Malaysian dishes. $9.50 for Hainanese Chicken Rice and Laksa starting from $8.50. Definitely one of my faves in CBD.
There is a small hidden Korean place in an alleyway off George St near Bathurst St that has lunch special of a selection of dishes for $9.90 plus unlimited of sides (kimchi,Seaweed, mash potato etc). I think the restaurant was called Drunken Rice. Used to go there multiple times a week for lunch when I worked there!
YASSS!!! Love anything edible and delicious under $10. We're also in the middle of making meal under $10 in Melbourne video, so good to see you also do this 😍 That Mappen Noodle House!! OMG that restaurant is the reason why we visited back Sydney 2 times after our first time trying Mappen, especially the udon topped with mentaiko. Delicious!! The same shop opened in Melbourne a few years back, but it's for ramen, called Mappen Ramen Bar. Too bad they now closed down 😪 Yumm... Bourke Street bakery, love their Ginger Brûlée Tart 😍 We also have Pappa Rich in Melbourne and agreed their roti canai curry is the best and cheap too. Love this type of video Janice, keep it up 👍
Janice Fung oh good to know! The another thing on my mind was if the gravy made the pie crust a bit soggy...but you’ve answered that as well. Thanks :)
Yes, you included the iconic Tiger Pie! It's so good. All great items, Janice. I miss Sydney. Great you highlighted Mappen. Their Udon was always a good deal. Is Mamak still doing roti canai under $10? That would be be my pick.
You're killing it girl,I just commented on one of your other videos after just finding you and I'd suggest you'd be an awesome tourist ambassador for Sydney. What's the international feedback you get from your videos
One day I will visit Sydney. Over my life I have been lucky enough to travel. I have never met anyone who disliked Australia and I've always wanted to visit. I appreciate that Australia is expensive. It's "European prices in Asia!" One day, one day!
Haha as New Yorkers, it’s always worth getting something better than $1 slices. That looked like a good one - remember seeing Frankie’s in Nick & Helmi’s video
The high price of food in Sydney is not the reflection of its quality, more like to cover high rent and high salary of employees. Sydney's food are overrated.
What is the current price of dry abalone and cooked star fish and mud crab? We also like fish moa and other authentic Cantonese food. Any recommendations?
Just got back from vacation in Sydney and wish I had watched your video before going. Although living in a city like San Francisco makes Sydney look like a bargain at times (not always, ok?!), I would have enjoyed hunting down all these places you mentioned. But I'm going back so I'll make sure to trace your steps!
The places you visited are still very pricey for Sydney! Try suburbs our west like Bankstown, Cabramatta, Toongabbie (for the best Sri Lankan food), and Strathfield and Burwood. The food waaay cheaper and vibe is so much better.
@@JaniceFung definitely, those places in Sydney deserve more recognition for their food culture. Unfortunately, they're too often overlooked because they're not as 'trendy' or 'instagrammable' (if that's a world)~~~
My favorite cheap eat is Nasi uduk. If you ever heard about that, it's coconut rice companion with a lil bit of fried noodle, a lil with fried tempe, fried onion shallot, crekers and sambal(chili)...it just 5000 rupiah, equal Aud is 50cent. 😗😗 Thanks for sharing.!!
Just saw your buffet review and me thinks its worth trying for a lunch. However, more likely to do the budget thing. It would be nice to see review of lunchtime deals in Sydney as heaps of Thai,Chinese etc go for less than $10. For budget buffet Merrylands RSL is under $20 and reasonable quality & amused by their Gold prize for their rest rooms although the Bankstown Sports Club is worth visiting I'm going back to EQ market day as the gnocchi in cheese wheel got me curious will see if price justified, thanks for review, cheers
Mehfil Indian Restaurant in Roseville, California, has an amazing all-you-can-eat buffet of meat & vegetarian curries, breads and desserts for US$9.99!
