The Spaniards never ever occupied the Essequibo not one inch of that territory. Show me one town or Village built by the Spaniards the Spaniards were never Part of our History. It was the Dutch who truly first settled the Area in the Early 1600s and built Kyk Over All and Fort Nova Zeelandia a testimony to their settlement of the Essequibo and brought in Slaves to work the plantations they developed. The Dutch ceded their Possessions of Essequibo Demerara and Berbice in a Treaty to the British who then merged all three into the Colony of British Guyana in 1814. Edit: in the convention Venezuela wasn't even present/invited, and USA talked for venezuela, The Russian Professor who decided who should take the territory worked in many British universities and is thought to have been influenced greatly by bias.
If it's historically venezuelan, why did Hugo Chavez in 2004 gave up their reivindications to the territory ? Only after gas and oil were discovered in the esequibo area in 2015 did Maduro return to the reivindication claims. This has nothing to do with historical heritage and all to do with resources and greed.
Since 1777 with the creation of the Captaincy General of Venezuela by Charles III, the Essequibo River developed as the eastern border between Spain and the Netherlands (Old Holland), from its source to its mouth into the Atlantic Ocean. However, the possession of this territory would only be de jure, since it would not be fully colonized by Spain. In 1814, Great Britain came into possession of the Dutch colonial territories of Demerara, Berbice and Essequibo. In 1822 Venezuela was forced to protest the continuous invasions of English settlers into Venezuelan territory. The Venezuelan minister in London, José Rafael Revenga, on instructions from Simón Bolívar, presented the official complaint to the British authorities in the following terms: "The settlers of Demerara and Berbice have usurped a large portion of land that according to the latest treaties between Spain and the Netherlands belongs to us on the side of the Essequibo River. There are documents, books and many pieces of evidence, the territory does not have a political flag, it belongs to Venezuela.

Two points, Guyana oil reserves are together with Venezuela reserves, and extract from Guyana side can and will diminish it's reserves, and the other point is that the Essequibo territory is historically venezuelan. Same goes for Brazil, the Guyana, Surinami and French Guyana was stolen from Brazillians by dutch, french and english. @@christopherross727 'usualy separated', not always right? Exploring it in an contested territory since 19th century where the others have all documents to prove their statement. Well i'm brazillian and i want to see peace for all South Americans. Look at the link and the map the oil deposits are in deep yellow as spots those are the cavities or lakes and those found so far are close to Suriname. This is off the mouth of the Berbice River chief to the North East. our crude is Lite sweet crude looks similar to dark honey Venezuela had heavy crude more like tar much more processing required to refine it. What would you do? If you build a house on a 400 m2 land with the effort of 30 years of work, you have a neighbor who gave him 70 m2 of land about 10 years ago, right next to his land. The neighbor comes and tells him that he is going to take 1/4 of his yard. Because your neighbor considers that you cannot control your children or family members within your property and that those 400 m2 are too much for you. Would you let the neighbor do that? The Government of Guyana behaves like the abusive neighbor.
It belongs to the Indigenous people who have lived there for thousands of years. And the Guyana government supports them and their sense of sovereignty. The Venezuelans will steal the resources and not let the Indigenous locals have anything.
The territory of Guayana Esequiba belongs to 15% of the Venezuelan territory. A treaty is a legal document the Possession passed from Dutch to British and then to Us Guyanese at Independence. So its our Land always have been.

Venezuela must respect Guyana's sovereignty, this quibo is Guyana's, and Guyana needs to monitor its borders by creating a strong border guard and monitor every movement of Venezuela on the border with Venezuela and strengthen the army, invest and increase the number of soldiers and have better defense weapons to defend the country, and be present in Guyanese indigenous communities, because the population that lives in Essequibo wants peace, they don't want wars and Venezuela should not wage wars Venezuela needs food food for its population war must be against famine in Venezuela and not against Guyana, a peaceful and beautiful country, and also for the mature dictator to present the electoral records and immediately leave power, giving way to the legitimate president Edmundo González.

Los personas de venezuela come mierda, esequibo es guyana
It is time for the people of Guyana to promote US military bases in Guyana, which will also make more business to the local people to become more rich.
Wherever the USA goes they always leave a big mess behind, like IRAQ who they thought had weapons of mass destruction, how many people died for that lie. How many children today are fatherless because of USA and the list goes on…….Be careful what you wish for……🤦🏾♂️
Also would prevent any other country from invading a small country. I really do feel like Russia and China are in the ears of the Venezuelan president, trying to create chaos in this region of the world to distract the US.
What? No. US are imperialists…
The Esequibo is Historically Venezuelan Territory. The british pirates suddenly decided to draw a border and due to International weight Britain got most to internationally recognize the esequibo as theirs. and now guyana is inhereting the problems of the British. Venezuela had this as far back as the creation of the gran colombia to the Monroe Doctrine, The land was stolen not conquered its not the same as a Mexican crying because it lost its territories to USA because its conquered. Actually many Amerindian Rebels when Guyana got its independence were on Venezuelan Side. The modern problem is that venezuela is under a bad dictatorship, that's the only reason Esequibo maybe shouldn't be in venezuelan hands due to Bad Administration.
Edit: in the convention Venezuela wasn't even present/invited, and USA talked for venezuela, The Russian Professor who decided who should take the territory worked in many British universities and is thought to have been influenced greatly by bias.
Oh no might is right
If it's historically venezuelan, why did Hugo Chavez in 2004 gave up their reivindications to the territory ? Only after gas and oil were discovered in the esequibo area in 2015 did Maduro return to the reivindication claims. This has nothing to do with historical heritage and all to do with resources and greed.
A small part of it is Historical Brazilian territory (pirará) yet Venezuela still claims it...
Venezuela owns nothing not even food presently
@@uruguaylusitano5797 Venezuela doesnt have strong claims to brazil, and currently they have Ok relations.
Pacto de ginebra, pacto de ginebra, tratado de ginebra, tratado de ginebra. No nos vamos a dejar robar.

Ha, look at Venezuela. This is a distraction. It's why they're all coming to my country.

Esequibo belongs to Venezuela
Let's study history !!!
The whole of South America originally belonged to Amerindians before it was colonized. So by that logic, does that mean that the entire continent should be invaded and reclaimed by them? Learn some history! 🙄
History tells me Venezuela is a dictatorship
These guys are so naive..
One more time we are seeing europpeans doing mess with other people country because of their historically greed of land and resources.
That's not true I keep hearing this line of thought. Oil Deposits exist as cavities in the earth independent and usualy separate. think of them as subterranean lakes but filled with petroleum instead. Where Exxon is extracting Oil is 100 miles off the mouth of the Berbice River that closer to Suriname and nowhere near venezuela.
@@christopherross727 'usualy separated', not always right? Exploring it in an contested territory since 19th century where the others have all documents to prove their statement. Well i'm brazillian and i want to see peace for all South Americans. But it's wrong to explore the resources of a land in dispute for sure, violence will never be the answer and Brazillians want the Guyanese people safe and sound of a possible conflict.
Its totaally different deposits in fact Venezuela's deposits of oil sits no where near Guyana but its out west near Maracaibo to the Columbian side.
If you want to go by history Venezuela and the rest of Latin America must belong to Spain and Portugal since they created these countries. Even Bolivar was a Spaniard. Artificial states shouldn't refer to history unless they themselves want to be historically deconstructed.
one points: Rally 'round the flag effect. a way of government to solve the internal crisis. to make a enemy, make eveyone stay together and hate the enemy. the way can remain the government authoritian and legality.
it seems that Venezuela meet a areat crisis and may make your dictator get out of his throne, and i pretty sure if you guy dont kick out your dictator, the problem of Venezuela will never sloved. next time, which nation your dictator want to invade? if the loss the war... i sure Venezuela must disapper.
Amy go Home 🤬🤬
It must be important, all 12 of the villagers showed up to the meeting!
Why do Venezuelans always see themselves as the victims?
Essequibo belongs to Venezuela 🇻🇪
It belongs to the Indigenous people who have lived there for thousands of years. And the Guyana government supports them and their sense of sovereignty. The Venezuelans will steal the resources and not let the Indigenous locals have anything.

The territory of Guayana Esequiba belongs to 15% of the Venezuelan territory. The long-running dispute is caused by Britain's shenanigans, which are currently being carried out by the government. of the Guyanese nation. Venezuela has always had a peaceful and diplomatic solution that now the Government of Mr. Irfaan Ali rejects It should be noted that Venezuela is not obliged to abide by the ruling of the ICJ since it does not have a signature on the Bogotá pact, a situation that has been repeatedly reported to the UN. to the OAS and the government of Guyana. It is because of them that the Government of Guyana has been repeatedly told to discuss other mechanisms to resolve the dispute. They must also mention that Venezuela has always respected the sovereignty of Guyana to the limits indicated in our Constitution. At the time of the creation of the state of Guyana in 1967, within the communiqué of recognition they were indicated that "Venezuela expressly reserves its sovereign rights, bordered to the East by the new State of Guyana through the line of the Essequibo River, taken from its source to its mouth in the Atlantic". The sun of Venezuela rises in Essequibo.
