Glad I live in Pennsylvania. 😂 We have a couple legit Mexican places and Tex-Mex places around here and my favorite place had the best shrimp burritos for $8. And they have it set up kinda like a Chipotle so you can pick your ingredients. But it’s a family run joint so everything is homemade and fresh. (Never been to chipotle btw). Food in general in America is overpriced... And federal min wage is 7$ which means you need to work at least 2 to 3 hours to finance one meal of the day .. if you eat 3 times you need 6-9h basically you work one day to survive one day .. America is slowly losing its first world country status!
@snareplug3872 The U.S cannot lose its first world status as the definition of first world is the U.S and nations aligned with it. Yeah food is expensive but it depends on where you are in the country, this is in california which has a minumum wage of 15.50$ an hour not 7$ (which is not the fedreal minimum wage either, that would be 7.25$) prices vary around the nation along with minimum wages.
Inflation...even if the cost of the ingredients hasn't risen much, inflation in general gives businesses a cheap excuse to tack on a few or even 5 bucks more than usual...burrito like that around here (western NY) would go for 12-15$ max
$20 for a shrimp burrito even in LA is insane to me. I live in LA and I wouldn't be paying that unless there was an overwhelming reason it was worth that. You can find all sorts of great, homecooked Mexican food from small family-owned spots for way less.
To be honest $20 for a shrimp burrito is pretty standard in LA… a lot of small family owned places have been skimping on portion size and ingredient quality lately. I’ve basically stopped eating out other than chipotle bc it’s a standard quality and size under $13
im in mexico bro, even $5 for a burrito is too much. I had a burrito here in manila PH and it was sick, only $6, american prices are crazy, stick to in.n out 😂

No freaking way would I pay $20 for a burrito. Can make three loaded shrimp burritos at home for less than that. No wonder everyone’s living in their parents basements.
That's exactly what I thought. It's just a regular restaurant that shares space witha gas station. My cousin does the same thing as he owns a Japanese mochi donut store, that's inside a gas station. It works for him as they share the mortgage and he gets customers that come in for gas and they get customers that comes in for mochi donuts. He also sells Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea, other desserts and drinks.
Been going there for years. They also give you a bag of their homemade flavored tortilla chips. Their surf and turf burrito has always been expensive. Always enjoyed the asada nachos. And everything is made fresh.
Now how much would that shrimp burrito be in Mexico? Like $3 American? I know restaurants need to make money but $20 is unjustified for shrimp even if they aren’t stringy with the ingredients
20.68 usd for a BURRITO? Thing better wipe my butt after I poop it out the next day for that price! 🤣 (I am from Canada and after exchange, that would cost me over $28. Thats INSANE!)
$20 for a burrito? Damn. Happy Taco in the hood has a Happy Burrito ( shrimp, chicken, asada, rice, beans, guac, sour cream ) for under that and is way bigger.
$15 - 21 for a burrito and $5 for one taco is outrageous. My local mexican shack (used to be a checkers) has the same size shrimp burrito for $8 and order of same size tacos (3) for $7
