I looked at so many videos, very few specifically on this model were found (at least in my case...) , this one was by far the best and the simplest and the most reassuring. I knew NOTHING before I started, now I'm the Boss! Thank you Mr Rocback
We have a Thor sequence 20 K Thank you for your videos. Had left the check valve on the Truma open and was freaking out as to why all this water was dumping under the van. My wife kept saying it’s probably something simple and of course she was right LOL now. So once again very Thankful for the videos
I am brand new to Winterizing my Thor-Tellaro-B 20K. I have look over several video's on this. But after watching yours, your unit is simular to my unit, and I give you many thanks. I think I can actually do this myself. I can't wait to try your way. Using the bike pump is a great idea. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for doing this. As a newThor B Van owner I was worried about messing with the Truma system. Your step by step instructions will help. Thanks again.
Many thanks Tom. I have slightly different van but your video worked for me. It is just refreshing to see a video that explains the process well. I looked at dewinterizing also. I got them on my thumb drive for reference.
Our van has a simple gravity feed for fresh tank fill. Nothing to Winterize there. Some newer vans have a port like the city fill one. After you’ve drained the fresh tank use the bicycle pump to clear that line, just like the city fill line. Other than that, you’re good to go. A little water I the fresh tank is not a problem because it has plenty of room to expand when it freezes.
Thanks! Please check the fittings on your water filter before purchasing a bypass hose. Newer models have different fittings than I describe on the video. Happy Trails!
@@tomrosback3142 Thank you for the reminder, Tom. I just bought a 2022 Tellaro 20AT and pickup tomorrow. I am new to RVing, so may have questions in the future.
@@mingshanli1093 - there is a lot of great information in the Facebook group ‘Thor Sequence and Tellaro Owners and Wannabes’ including checklists for checkout and pickup. Happy Trails.
Question please: why was there still clear water in your faucets if the fresh water tank should have been drained before putting in the anti-freeze? This video is very helpful! Thanks for making it!
With our van the back is a little higher than the front so there is still some water in the fresh tank after I drain it. I run the water pump and open the low point drains until very little water is coming out. Then I know I’ve cleared the lines and emptied the tank.
@@tomrosback3142 THANK YOU TOM! Would you please advise when we reverse the 5 valves that we opened and closed? Namely these: 1. CLOSE FRESH WATER TANK VALVE (closed would be perpendicular) 2. CLOSE COLD WATER INLET VALVE 3. CLOSE HOT WATER OUTLET VALVE 4. OPEN VALVE BYPASS LINE 5. OPEN BRASS TRUMA DRAIN VALVE Do we reverse these positions as soon as it's winterized?
Hi Tom, I have a question that is not related to winterizing. Have you used the exterior propane port? I wonder if a pressure regulator is needed to connect a propane stove/grill. Probably not, but just make sure. Thank you!
Hi David - best to remove the filter assembly and take it to a hardware store and tell them you want a hose with the same fittings as the water filter. I’ve found out that depending model and year the fittings may be different.
I’m trying to winterize my 2022 Thor Tellaro for the first time by myself. I’m to the antifreeze step and the antifreeze won’t go in when I turn on the water pump. What could I be doing wrong?
Get a funnel that fits in the end of the hose. Lift the hose as high as you can and pour the antifreeze into the funnel. Turn on the water pump. If that doesn’t do it loosen the plumbing fitting on the output end of the water pump. Put a towel down to catch any drips.
I do have a question though...it seams by using this bypass valve to put antifreeze in that the antifreeze does not get into the section of blue hose that runs from the water tank to the shut off valve next to the place you put the antifreeze in. Am I correct on this or does it somehow go all the way around through that tube?
Linda - that’s a very astute observation. It is correct. We rely on the water pump to vacate the water in that line. By draining the tank and keeping the pump running, we can get most of the water out of that line. So far it has worked for three winters. The alternative would be to pour some antifreeze in the fresh tank and have the pump run it through that line. I prefer not to do that, since the tank may pick up the antifreeze taste.
@@tomrosback3142 Hi, Tom, nice video and great help! One question: How do you open the yellow valve of the Trauma? Up or forward? I found that both way worked but not sure which one is the "Right" way. Thanks!
Hi Tom, happy new year! I followed your video to winterize my Tellaro 20A, but the pump did not pump the antifreeze. The pump seemed running. Any idea? Thanks a lot!
Make sure the valve to the fresh water tank is closed. It is located to the left of the winterization port. Then try lifting the antifreeze bottle above the water pump. Please let me know if either worked.
@@mingshanli1093 - if you haven’t already opened one faucet, try that. If that does not work you’ll need to contact Thor for further assistance. Good luck!
@@tomrosback3142 Hi Tom, Thank you much for still thinking of me. I got it work. I think the problem was there was no liquid (water in the line, pump). I filled the tube (connect the winterizing port) with antifreeze and push into or close to the pump, then turned on the pump. It started to pump the antifreeze.
Class B newbie here. I was wondering instead of using the anti freeze, can I just pump all the water out (using both low point release/water pump and bicycle air pump as you suggested, great idea btw) and call the winterizing done? Thanks.
Lots of people use an air compressor to clear out the lines and winterize their rigs. The higher volume of air you get from a compressor pushes the remaining water out of the low spots in the plumbing. I’m not sure a bike pump will do it, and repairs can be difficult and expensive.
1st thing is my 2022 tellaro 20a is not female to female. Wish I had known that before I bought the wrong hose , also no low point drains anywhere on this thing
I understand other models/years have different connections. Best to look at what you have before heading to the hardware store. Or even take in the filter assembly. Your van probably has low point drains, you’ll find them in the schematic package for your van on the Thor Owner’s resource website. I’m some models they are small pull up valves located on the floor under cabinets, etc. Updated info on winterization can be found in the Tellaro and Sequence Owners and Wannabes Facebook group.
Your low point drains (1 hot, 1 cold) are in the same cabinet as the circuit board under the passenger side bed. They're super small and tough to get through as they're likely buried under the floorboard and the waxy paper used on the floor. It took a small knife and a flathead screw driver to get mine up and open
Thanks-new van owner and this was super easy to follow and matched my van components!!! 🙂
Susan, I’m glad it helped. Happy Trail!
