    I would expect another video using the cruise control at a variety of speeds i.e. 120-130-140 km/h so that we have a look over it's consumption.

    • @berny_sk
      @berny_sk 3 года назад +1

      From Toyota FAQ:
      What are the "S" and "B" gear shift positions used for?
      "S" is for sport. If you're driving on twisty country roads and want to keep the RPM up as you wind through corners, the "S" position is where you want to be. In "S", the transmission holds lower gears longer for more power as you come out of the curves.
      The "B" position favors lower gears, too, but for a totally different purpose. Just as you might shift a conventional transmission to Low on a long downhill grade; you can shift into the "B" position to increase engine drag and help slow the Corolla while coasting down a hill.

      Hello! I am about to invest in a new car (as a family car) and I am trying to decide between Toyota Corolla Touring Trek variant and Kia Ceed SW Plug-In (or not). Which one would you recommend more? I know Kia's reliability was not good in the past but it seems like they have catched up with their competitors in the last years. I am looking at 2021 models. Thank you!

    I thought they were going to use the yaris gr drivetrain into the corolla?
    Personally I'd prefer they stick with the dynamic force NA engine, but how did they manage to crank out an additional 15hp?

    • @bfox100
      @bfox100 2 года назад

      I thought the same thing when I clicked the video, I think this is like the GR Sport Yaris, which had better looks, and improved handling, but was still fwd, low power, and auto.
      I think the GR Corolla (the video has the GR Sport) will have the 1.5 T with about 275 hp, with the GR Yaris drivetrain. I though the same that they should use the GR Yaris gearbox and awd system, but with a turbocharged version of the 2.0L Dynamic Force engine, maybe with about 300hp.
      They got the added power by making this a hybrid with the 2.0 L engine, giving it more hp overall, and with a lower hp tune on the 2.0L. If you check on Wikipedia (easiest place I found it), they have a list of the M20A engines (the 2.0L used in the Corolla Hatchback) and the M20A-FKS which is in most of the worlds Corolla Hatchback, and the M20A-FKB, which is only used in Brazil, have around 170hp. The engine used in the Hybrid Corolla Hatch/GR Sport Corolla (the M20A-FXS) has 150 hp. Which is then supplemented by an electric motor, for a combined 184 hp.
      Also, there are quite a few people who have gotten an additional 20-30 hp out of the M20A-FKS Dynamic Force engine by taking advantage of the advanced self-learning ECU, and installing a higher flow air intake, and exhaust system. The ECU will be able to adapt to the higher airflow and supply more fuel to keep an ideal air/fuel ratio. Some people have figured out how to flash the ecu and are trying to turbocharge the 2.0L engine, but it doesn't like boost due to its high compression, so they are starting low, with around 4 psi of boost.

      We get the Corolla Hatch, which has only 16 hp less, has the same motor, tuned for more power (has less overall because it isn't a hybrid), and can come in a manual as well as the CVT. Though the extra power would be nice, at least in 2023 we will (very likely) be getting the GR Corolla, which will have the drivetrain from the GR Yaris (symmetrical awd, 6 spd manual) plus it'll be bumped up to ~275 hp.

      You do realise that the CVT or in this case the eCVT is one of the reasons the Toyota hybrid system is so effective , smooth working and reilable? There is no better gearbox for a hybrid. Even with all the drawbacks.

    • @mpieck2
      @mpieck2 3 года назад +11

      Actually it's not a gearbox in strict sense, it's a planetary gear setup with a permanent engines' power transmission. There are no gears, no transmission belts, no actuators to switch or move them, no clutches, that's why it should be extremely reliable.

    • @bfox100
      @bfox100 2 года назад +1

      @@mpieck2 It actually does have 1 gear, a first gear, which makes it even more reliable, as it won't have as much wear and tear from start and stop traffic. After the first gear it does switch to the smooth CVT transmission though.
