Man you are a legend. I have the same exact model. Focus mk3.5. I had a bad experience recently with an uneducated and really horrible mechanic that lead to a leaking my whole motor oil from the engine. I changed the oil again and this message pops up… now I am safe 😁😁
Thankyou so much. My next service is 6000k away. My local garage who I have frequented for yearswere tight lipped when I asked how I could turn this warning off. They offered that I could bring the car in for service at $208 just to clear the warning. Ha. Alls fair in love war and business. Legend.
I had done this reset before, but forgot and had to look it up again, so thanks. Interesting though, the system only keeps track of the time, not the condition of the system or the oil or anything like that, so don't depend on it for anything other than that. About a month or so ago, I had a serious oil leak and took it in for service and it turned out to be a problem with the filter. The shop replaced the filter and changed the oil. So in the past few days my "oil change required" light started coming on, and I was puzzled at first until I realized the system was tracking TIME since the last oil change and it doesn't recognize that the oil HAS been changed. (silly me--shows how ignorant I am about these things I guess) Anyway, I just reset it (thanks to you) but it's off by a month or so.
Thanks a lot @ 2024 actually I’ve changed the motor oil one month ago but today I saw the that message then I found your video and solved it immediately 😎 appreciated
Thanks for the useful video. I have to say, however, on the part of Ford this is a terrible implementation of the whole process. My daughter's 2010 Ford Fusion does the process in the menu and you can check it to get a percentage of oil life left. You can also select the percentage to start at when you do the reset so say you changed the oil before the notification was displayed you can reset it to 90% instead of 100% to account for the miles you have already driven since changing the oil. Our newer 2016 Focus doesn't work as nicely.
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage QQ: on Focus 1.5TDCI 2016 model it just came now the message "oil change required" (97500km), while oil change "was done" by official ford service 3 month ago at ~87k. Hence factory recommend changes are at 20k, any idea why this will come up after 10k only? Wonder if any way on how to indeed verify/track that oil change was made....as now question is if indeed oil was changed or not 😒
I had this come up. Engine service now. The car drove sluggish while this was on. I turned off the engine and turned it back on again and it seems OK for now
HELP!!! Ive changed oil for my ford focus mk3 2016. But the oil change message keep coming back every 300 miles or so? Please tell me what is going on. (I do reset message every single time) oil level is ok too.
Thank you for this. Funnily enough the Ford Service team didn't think to do this.
yep 😐😐😐😐😐😑
you totally saved me. Got my oil changed and they had no idea how to clear off the notification. you are awesome.
This helped me reset my 2016. For keyless start folks, like me, all you have to do is hit your start button, everything else is the same.
👌👏
thanks!
The best f**king video on maintenance that I’ve ever watched. It took me literally a minute to get that warning out.
Thanks

Sorry, it didn't work on my 2016 Focus 🤔
It's not working for me. Maybe you can help me? I hold down the accelerator and brake but nothing shows up. Do I need to be in the trip menu?
Did you first turn the key to the accessories position?
What if your keyless?

Tks great
I have a synthetic oil change and it said “oil change required” I know I can got a lot longer than 3k miles. Why is it saying I need it?
Apparently, the message is based solely on the amount of time since the last oil change reset.
