Thank you for posting! 😍 You can see how wonderful Torvill & Dean were at Compulsory Dances. Though Alan Weeks didn't explain, Jayne did different arm movements in the Westminster Waltz, that's why the Russian Judge marked them down. But the steps were still exactly the same, they were just being creative.
@@francisheperi4180I don’t really know, I think it may be because they thought people wouldn’t want to watch compulsory dances anymore, that they want more acrobatic free programs.
@@01doha Ice dancing is like ballroom dancing. Torvill and Dean managed to be very creative in this section without the jumps. I don't watch it anymore either. They've sacrificed elegance for showmanship.
@@01doha Bingo. One thing you'll notice about the compulsories is that there are far fewer people in the audience than, say, the Free Dance - very little people wanted to watch them. Bear in mind you'd have about 20 couples performing the same 2 minute routine to to the same music - three times. In the end it all comes down to entertainment and money.
@dorvilltean I have to correct you and Alan Weeks, it was not the same music, it was the same Tempo for each Compulsory, but there were 3 different pieces of music rotated throughout each event. But at least it fit the Dance perfectly. Nowadays Novices still dance Compulsories but can choose their own music in the correct Tempo, which doesn't always work if it's a modern pop song.

How much I like them ! It's one of my favorite pairs in figure skating. Bravo !
It doesn't look like there skating at all just effortlessly gliding ❤
Jayne n Chris best ice dancers EVER
Torvill and Dean make it seem so effortless. ❤
Used to love watching the compulsory dances, nowadays ice dance seems just like pairs without the jumps!
Why did they change it?
