I hate the way ice dancing has progressed to a man throwing women in the air or holding her in the air. That is gymastics. Torvill and Dean tell beautiful stories. They are magic.
They really are the greatest ice skaters/dancers ever. I was a skater for many years and have had the pleasure to see some wonderful performances. But there has never been anyone to equal or come close to Torvil and Dean. They are a once in a lifetime partnership. Everyone skating now are good, even spectacular, but when compared to Torvil and Dean, they look like amateurs.
@@ellenfds007 I think they could be with better choreography, but their artistry doesn't quite compare. Nearly everything Torvil and Dean did was very unique in some way - they reflected each piece in a way that you just don't see anymore, and rarely saw even back then with other ice dancers,

Mesmerising. Their split-second timing, co-ordination and fluidity of movement are unequalled, as is their choreography, a continual evolution of exquisitely lovely shapes and moves. They project intensity of emotion and spirituality, making them the most watchable ice dancers of all time.
I've not seen this before. Obviously their Bolero skate was not a one of. Their coordination, artistry, and creativity was exceptional. Way before atheticism became the grading standard. This was a joy to watch.
There were many stunning performances, all beautifully performed and choreographed! Bolero was certainly not a one-off! Look them up - they are well worth a look! ❤ An Australian fan🦘🇦🇺 I Can’t wait to see them here one more time next year to thank them for giving so much pleasure to us over the years!
That was one of the things that I noticed about the “Bolero” performance. Normally the commentators act like they’re paid by the word, they fill every moment with verbiage. But there wasn’t a word spoken throughout that performance. It was awesome.
Torvill & Dean, the best pair I’ve ever seen, on ice in nearly 80 years. Just a joy to watch as they glide on the ice, so smooth, so precise, and so beautiful to watch. I’ve not seen them in a long time, and I thank you for bringing us this video.
I know it is not traditional Indian dance but that is not the point it is their interpretation of the music with an Asian/ Arabic theme.Simply divine .I saw them on ice with 20 Russian skaters , sublime show.
What about music, this is Song of the indian guest, opera Sadko by the Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov. And yes, it is definitely with the oriental motievs. This aria is very popular in Russia.
I'm 78 and I remember watching them on TV. To me they are the best ice skating dancers. They seem ti just float on ice. It was such a pleasure to watch.
I love their control and “story telling” it’s not rushed or frantic in any way. This was elegant and sublime. It’s stood the test of time. Man these two were fantastic ❤❤❤
Эта пара была не только высокотехнична, но и высокоинтеллектуальна. Все ждали их выступления, как кульминации соревнований. За музыку Римского Корсакова особая благодарность и лайк.
They are so incredibly flawless, I thought it was being shown in slow motion at first, what amazing talent they both have, it's wonderful to watch.....🎉❤
Flawless, lyrical, poetry in motion. They moved as one and their bodies were fluid and yet perfectly choreagraphed to the music and to each other. Very moving.
I was an ice dancer for many years. My coach was a national champion & world medalist, and competed with T&D. He said when he saw Torvill & Dean skate, it made him want to hang up his skates & just give up. They are remarkable and timeless.
After seeing Torville and Dean, there is no need for me to watch any other skater as no one could ever eclipse these two skaters perfect performance and artistry. They are beautiful to watch. Perhaps one day another skater or duo will reach Torville and Deans standards, but to date these wonderful skaters are simply the best in my opinion.
I watched them every chance I could, they were fantastic! I always felt as if they were creating their own universe with their skating. Like the world just disappeared and it's only them. ❤
Skating is not the gorgeous, miraculous sport it once was. It has desended into a litany of extreme tricks. And as a reward, the audience disappeared. RIP to a beautiful thing, and thank you T&D for the magnificent memory here.
Just like a dream……….. They’ve managed to translate this piece of music into one continuous flow of movement… Loved all the circular sequences…. Just a dream ⭐️🧡💛⭐️
Stunning. I hadn't seen this dance before. It was sublime. Jayne must have a core of steel to hold some of those shapes - in fact just to get into them let alone holding them
They were amazing! They have not been surpassed, and I wonder if they ever will be. I was fortunate enough to see them perform live, including Bolero. There were two performances, and my friend and I bought tickets for both. They were perfection.
They are the best ice dancers ever and each routine they did was unique. They still ice dance occasionaly on 'Dancing on Ice' in the UK every year. They are doing their last tour next year and I am going to see them. I have seen them before about 6 times and their shows never disappoint.
Exquisite! Exceptional! Spectacular! Just three words that spring to mind. An absolutely faultless performance by two of the greatest skaters ever, I never tire of watching them.👏👌🥰
Wow, they still give me goose bumps after all these years. I had never seen this dance before but it is up there with all the greats they gave us. In my opinion they will never be bettered 💜💜💜
OMG, there aren't even words for this.....the fluidity, the effortless looking strength...this doesn't even look humanly possible.....how much strength is it takes to give the perpetual illusion of weightlessness as they skate....sublime....
Mesmerizing. Their choreography was always so perfect with the choice of music and respectful of the music, also. Loved watching them. They will always be the best to me.
Utterly beautiful, & so smooth. They do it right & make ice skating look very effortless. Thankyou to them both very much. I enjoyed watching them. ❤❤❤❤❤
They set a standard that has yet to be really reach in the same way. I have seen many great ice skaters since then, but non of them are in the same class as Torvill and Dean. Torvill & Dean had something that was just magical between them. It was nothing that could be taught to new skaters it is something that is only be created through their experience and their complete trust in each other that made them who they were.
Incomparable. Breathtaking. I was catapulted into my past, watching them skate to Bolero. I had never seen such perfection on ice. Thank you for uploading this.

Tessa and Scott are equally excellent.
They look athletic, not like amateurs. T&D look like they're *dancing* and totally connected to one another.

Graceful.
No routine of theirs will ever beat their Bolero.

Love watching them
I agree ... i loved to see these two skating but I also love this music ..it's absolutely lovely .
So graceful and beautiful just like the music. No one can compare to the great Torvil and Dean
The incredible Torvill and Dean. Words always fail to express my appreciation for their artistry.
Whenever the music pauses a beat, you realise the whole hall has become absolutely silent.
Magical.
I watch this performance regularly, and never tire of this exquisite routine and music. SPECTACULAR.

Best pair skaters ever
*Ice dancers
Pairs skaters throw or are thrown and have lifts overhead. Ice dancers never get into a lift fully extended over head.
Wonderful choreography, exquisitely executed. No flamboyant athleticism. True art. Thank you for posting.
Don't remember this one, its beautiful!!
The greatest ice skaters the universe has ever known. I have only just seen this one. It gave me goosebumps on my goosebumps.
Never seen this before. They truly were the best.
I can’t stop looking at them, so gorgeous 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👏👏👏🕊️🇨🇭
@@lilianeruppert7907 perfect coordination. AMAZING.
Like a moving sculpture, always amazing.
Mesmerizing. Moving art. No pair can ever dance like this as well as they can. Incredible.
This is what ice dancing used to be. Absolutely mesermizing these two. It's beyond skating, it's art unfolding on ice set to music.
They were so graceful when they skated. Like poetry in motion.
Their connection will never be surpassed. The way they move as one has always been extraordinary. ❤

Wow!!! What synchronization!!!
Absolutely breathtaking
This was a very special expression of devine beauty and love and perfection on ice.. My god, what a delight
Breathtaking and so seamlessly smooth and fluid.
Absolute perfection.
Couldn't put it any better. Simply wonderful.
So elegant, so complicated and simple at the same time. The music makes me weep. Their loveliness on the ice is flawless, on a cloud, mesmerizing.
Just perfection. ❤️🌹❤️🌹🌟🌟🌟🌟

It's quite astonishing, how do they Grip the Floor and Keep a Balance at their Performance.
They were a mesmerizing team. Watching them at the time, with having no knowledge of ice dancing, even I knew they were special.

Jane Torvil and Christopher Dean, yet to be surpassed. Always so much emotion to match the wonderfully perfect skill ❤️
Took my late mum to their show at Wembley Arena…part of the performance…beautiful…thank you for the memories ❤

They were so far ahead of their time. Christopher Dean is a wonderful choreographer, and both were (are?) great skaters. I still love watching them.
The choreographer was Graeme Murphy. Of course, as great performers they contributed also, after all they know what's possible technically.
I remember this is was stunningly beautiful then and it it still is they were a joy to watch
