A perfect example of tough love. Watching Bernstein conduct is more entertaining than the actual production. This reminds me of an episode of the Flintstones when Wilma sighs "I love watching Leonard Bernstone conduct!" A flaming dynamo. It's a wonder the baton didnt burn up in his hand. Like a great coach, Bernstein wont let up until the play is ran perfectly. Only when every last drop is squeezed from the bottle does he relent. "Great Take." What an understatement. Carreras version of this classic is probably the best ever recorded. With a whole lot of help from his enemy. I mean friend, Leonard Bernstein. What a collaboration.
Well, Don… With all due respect… The original Tony on Broadway, Larry Kert, sings the living hell… Like an Angel on Earth… of this ravishing song, also. Agreed, though, José Carreras really does sing like a god.
Oh, Vincent!!!!!!!this is wonderful to watch and listen to!!!!!! So utterly beautiful to watch the whole creative process and hard work going into delivering one line, and eventually a song!!! Thank you so much!!!
Inmejorable, Carreras.
At the edge of my seat.....Nuckles firmly on my chair........and my heart racing......until the end of the last note.......beautiful! Pure music! Genius!
Bravo !

It became a masterpiece 🌟 Of course the auditions were difficult. But... we are lucky to see a recording of how they were made to be 🌟✴⭐

Oh my God, how Beautiful, my heart sings and cry's at the same time.
That last take is so flawless. His face was so relaxed.
You know, Bernstein COULD have come up with a few more words of praise after that perfect performance. "Great take." Indeed.

We love you CARRERAS
I love in the beginning Bernstein coaching Cararas and smoking a cigarette.
Yeah. You can’t be a little rebellious anymore. We’re all so controlled now. I feel an animal.
indeed, smoking tobacco in front of a classical singer looks pretty rude.
Oh my, this is the first time I have heard a classical composer swear on camera! (2:43)
😊
I would argue he’s not a classical composer. His compositions are far more romantic, wouldn’t you agree?
what a voice!
The most beautiful sound I ever heard - his voice❤️❤️❤️
pathetic.
What do you mean, doristracy?
Sorry, dennistracy?
Carreras nailed it magic
At the edge of my seat.....Nuckles firmly on my chair........and my heart racing......until the end of the last note.......beautiful! Pure music! Genius!
His voice is great. Diction a little weird at times ie "never". But why is it a Tony with a foreign accent? Was the book written that way?
Wow... and what a great singer....
"ma porco iddio" cit

5:16 🤣
5:46 Didn't know Carreras was chill like that
are you here after watching Maestro?
Mr Moneybags slavishly counting pennies in the awkward mix of pure art and impure money. He looks so out-of-place, dosen't he?
For a moment I didn't see Bernstein happy and smiling. This is brilliant.
Grande Carreras
5:46 !!!
Smoking in front of the tenor practicing. Those times :))
Unhealthy times. Yeah
The legend carres
But nothing of this appears in the Movie😢😢😢😢
"Porco Iddio," says prima donna Pepe Carreras. He sang beautifully, but he was a pain. Not Te Kanawa, not Troyanos, just him.
5:47
Why is Carreras cursing? "Porco iddio"
7.00 on
bravo
Until minute 9:00 I didn’t get why even do this. Then it became very clear.
thank you Vincent - cliff in Tokyo

5:46 I think he said, “Holy shit”
i prefer this on a broadway voice than opera voice
Pianissimo, thats not pianissimo. Sheehs, must have been nerve racking
