I was watching this video almost every day prior to going to Andorra as part of my "homework" of getting to know the Gall de Bosc route. Needless to say that it took me 32 minutes to finish it (intermediate snowboarder here). Some parts like the downhill before you said hi to your friends is so much steeper irl and you make them look like they are too casual :)
Hi, hopefully the video was of some use to you in your research, that was exactly why I started posting them as there weren’t many videos that allowed me to plan routes to ski with others. It’s unfortunate but the camera tends to flatten out the terrain a little as you are looking down the slope rather than horizontally while skiing. WRT the pitch of that section of the slope, I have been skiing for quite some time now so maybe forgot how others might find it but in general it is a very easy cruiser of a piste!
@@PaulSki248 Videos like this, and all the others plus on other channels are part of a vast visual database of runs to show what the runs are really like, so skiers who go down them for the first time get no nasty surprises.
Enjoyed this run several times. Can mix it up a bit taking Os or Esquirol, and others. Two chairs back to the top again. El Clos cafe at the end is good for a reasonably priced snack. Hope to be there again in 2024. You got there early morning before the boarders chew up the forest path.
You’re right, it was my first full run of the day after riding cucut to get from the top of the Solana 6 man chair to the slow chair to the top. Many good side routes and places to stop. Enjoy your trip in 2024!
Paul, excellent video. Absolutely enjoyed watching it. We did Gall de Bosc a couple of times in April (Easter time) this year but the snow wasn't great as compared to your experience. I shot videos with my GoPro Hero 8 Black with a helmet mount as well but I am struggling to find the right settings for it. If you remember what your settings (frame rate and protune) were for this video do you mind sharing? Also since I am a beginner I take longer turns and the videos get ruined due to fast panning when I turn my head.
Glad you enjoyed it! You can’t ski the Soldeu sector without spending some time on Gall de Bosc! I took the opportunity early on when it was quiet to get a nice cruise down the full length!
It depends on your skiing standards, I recorded this first thing in the morning before it got busy, the bottom half is a narrow road, as a beginner this is a nice way to get around the mountain, now it is a slow cruise that gets very busy by 10 o clock. There are a couple of choke points where runs join that get very busy as the day goes on but it is a run that when you ski Grandvalira you cannot completely avoid as it links so much of tha area together. As an advanced skier you have other options, but you still need to use it at times!

Is it a decent run though? It looks quite nice at the top but further down gets narrow and looks a bit... meh?

soldeu to el tarted gal de bosc is nice. just the end is a bit rough for beginners, too steep.
Probably why it is graded as a blue piste, the last 80m is a little steep but with care many beginners do manage very successfully!
are you skiing or snowboarding?
oh skiing nvm
