My run down the infamous tunnel run, includes a fall from another guy who bounces down about 100 vertical meters of slope! Enjoy!

Red Pistes - Belvedere, Chamois - Alpe D’Huez
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
This is a run from 2700m (DMC 2) down to 2100m (DMC 1) via the end of the Belvedere piste and along the length of Chamois. Although it is rated harder than blue piste Couloir that covers the same drop, it is usually easier to ski as there is less traffic and the snow stays in better condition. Filmed on GoPro hero 8 black.

Red Piste - Deversoir - Alpe D’Huez
Просмотров 307Год назад
Deversoir runs from 2800m at the top of the Marmottes 2 gondola down to La Folie Douce at 2300m (top of Marmottes 1 Chair lift) It varies in pitch and width but is a nice first run of the day (which is why this is in the shadow of the mountain!)
Skiing with the wrong binding release settings doesn’t end well! Alpe d’Huez- Cloche de Macle
Просмотров 103Год назад
So my new skis were in for repair so I took my old ones out to play. Unfortunately I had set the binding release values for my wife to use them and not put them back up for me. So at the bottom of the first pitch of cloche de Macle, a black piste in Alpe d’Huez, my skis pre released and I ended up 30m plus below my skis!

Red Piste - Olympique - Alpe D’Huez (plus a little tumble) which runs out into Greens
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
Olympique runs from the top of the Marmottes 1 chair lift down to Le Bergers. At the end I the red run you end up on the Altiport Green piste which can take you all the way to the bottom but I chose to hook right onto Myrtilles. Took a silly little fall while focussing on people around me rather than what I was doing!
Alpauris Chair lift in Alpe D’Huez (Scare Chair)
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
The Alpauris lift allows transfer between Alpe D’Huez and the linked area of Auris en Oisans. It is known as the care chair locally because it drops quickly into the sarenne valley before climbing out the other side. This was taken travelling from Auris to Alpe D’Huez The concrete tunnel the chair goes under before entering town is actually the end of the Altiport runway!

    Is it a decent run though? It looks quite nice at the top but further down gets narrow and looks a bit... meh?

      @PaulSki248 10 дней назад

      It depends on your skiing standards, I recorded this first thing in the morning before it got busy, the bottom half is a narrow road, as a beginner this is a nice way to get around the mountain, now it is a slow cruise that gets very busy by 10 o clock. There are a couple of choke points where runs join that get very busy as the day goes on but it is a run that when you ski Grandvalira you cannot completely avoid as it links so much of tha area together. As an advanced skier you have other options, but you still need to use it at times!

      Hi, I used a GoPro hero 8 black to record this which is gps enabled. The GoPro Quik app allows me to integrate the tracking and speed onto the video via my phone before uploading to youtube

    What camera records the speed, altitude and direction?

    • @PaulSki248
      @PaulSki248 9 месяцев назад

      Hi, Later GoPros, hero 8 and later have GPS modules that track your altitude speed and location on the mountain so can give you direction of travel. These can be overlaid on the video using the GoPro Quik app

    Enjoyed this run several times. Can mix it up a bit taking Os or Esquirol, and others. Two chairs back to the top again. El Clos cafe at the end is good for a reasonably priced snack. Hope to be there again in 2024. You got there early morning before the boarders chew up the forest path.

      You’re right, it was my first full run of the day after riding cucut to get from the top of the Solana 6 man chair to the slow chair to the top. Many good side routes and places to stop. Enjoy your trip in 2024!

    I was watching this video almost every day prior to going to Andorra as part of my "homework" of getting to know the Gall de Bosc route. Needless to say that it took me 32 minutes to finish it (intermediate snowboarder here). Some parts like the downhill before you said hi to your friends is so much steeper irl and you make them look like they are too casual :)

    • @PaulSki248
      @PaulSki248 Год назад

      Hi, hopefully the video was of some use to you in your research, that was exactly why I started posting them as there weren’t many videos that allowed me to plan routes to ski with others. It’s unfortunate but the camera tends to flatten out the terrain a little as you are looking down the slope rather than horizontally while skiing. WRT the pitch of that section of the slope, I have been skiing for quite some time now so maybe forgot how others might find it but in general it is a very easy cruiser of a piste!

    Paul, excellent video. Absolutely enjoyed watching it. We did Gall de Bosc a couple of times in April (Easter time) this year but the snow wasn't great as compared to your experience. I shot videos with my GoPro Hero 8 Black with a helmet mount as well but I am struggling to find the right settings for it. If you remember what your settings (frame rate and protune) were for this video do you mind sharing? Also since I am a beginner I take longer turns and the videos get ruined due to fast panning when I turn my head.

    • @PaulSki248

      Glad you enjoyed it! You can’t ski the Soldeu sector without spending some time on Gall de Bosc! I took the opportunity early on when it was quiet to get a nice cruise down the full length!
