Hi Bjorn thank you for sharing this fantastic video! It's amazing to see how the weather changes from day to day but the spring is coming soon and it's time to work. You are the greatest bonsai master in USA and one of the first in the world! Very compliments Bjorn, have nice time!👍👍👍👍
I'm in SW VA and we got the same weather that week. I too, had to keep my trees in the cold frame with the heater just so there wouldn't be a sudden deep freeze. Watching that Trident get trunk chopped is EXACTLY a dilemma I am facing right now as well. I have several Tridents, and one, has three trunks, very similar to the 2 trunk tree you were advising on, and I know it needs to be chopped, but I just cannot get it figured out, and now, here in South West Virginia, all my trees have leaves already and I think its not a good time to chop that Trident. I really wish I had gotten a better idea on how and when I should have gotten it done. Now, like your region, I am trying to figure out when to start feeding the deciduous trees. I've been told I should wait till early summer for shorter node growth..but I am undecided.
Absolutely love this. I've been caring for Serissa bonsais on and off for about 10 years. I've never had them so young. Would love if you could create some content for the younger hobbyists. Many of them (as seen on tiktok) don't realize how difficult this cultivar is and have woefully shared my pain.
Great to see the workshop, trees and as an added plus the music was solid. Hopefully this year turns out to be better than the past two with regards to Covid and being face to face with each other.
Ever cool! Wish I could go there! I love the climate differences. Where I am, when it gets up to -7C in spring, people are out in shorts. Not me.... But I was out in a Tshirt at 3C.😄
i'm the fifth year now into bonsai and it really changed my life. i didn't want to miss it just one single day and i'm improving daily, it's just so much fun. can't imagine what i have done before :D but one question: what are you doing at a/this workshop? are you bringing your own tree (or getting a new one there) when it needs repotting and some styling steps, and you (bjorn) are helping at these decisions? EDIT: i just found the video description links.. xD
5:33 Unpopular opinion and why I’m very conflicted: I love your work and Bonsai in general but I can’t help and squirm watching you cut away at that root mass. It’s easy to admire the beauty of bonsai but we overlook what the tree had to go through to look that way. Trees are living organisms capable of experiencing stress and pain. Engaging in practices that intentionally subject trees to prolonged suffering for the sake of human enjoyment raises questions about our moral responsibility towards the natural world. We cause harm to the very organisms we seek to admire. I just feel like there has to be another way…
Best part of the video was hearing AIC playing in the background. All time favorite band, awesome taste in music!
Nice sharing..👍👍👍
Bonsai and Foo Fighters… doesn’t get much better than that!
Thanks again for sharing. Glad to see momo-chan. Godspeed always.
That was breathtaking to see those beautiful trees with the snow on them.
The King of bonsai
