- In this video we have Andrew Pimblott from Roland to run us through the features of the sequencer on the Fantom 88 Note Workstation Keyboard. bit.ly/2nM1Hqq
The Roland FANTOM is a new kind of creative hub, made for rapid production and expressive performance. Inspiring onboard production tools and deep computer integration fuel an experience that feels intuitive, natural, and full of possibilities.
great walk-through. probably the best one ive seen so far. splendid job.
Fantastic demo and talk-through of this fabulous instrument! Thanks very much!
Wow, i realy like that stuff about the Flagship - my new coming build up studio will use that in future. THX for the Show man!
Roland needs to bring back Skip Back Sampling button. That saved me countless times trying to remember what I played during “practicing/doodling”.
Good, informative tutorial. I have just purchased a PSR SX-900 and getting to know it. It is great that Yamaha has included these recording facilities. This Video is really helpful because this Demo is far superior to reading instructions on paper.
I have also uploaded a video on RUclips titled " Believe in me" recorded using the SX-900 but was not confident enough to use the recording facilities. So I'll try it next time :)
that's a good keyboard ! i'm professional for 35 years, and i see exactly what i want ! bravo
Andy is an Amazing asset for Roland, he really inspired me!!!!!
Thanks for the walk through Andy, i really appreciate it.
Finally a good tutorial straight to the point cheers lads
Great clip, I'll stop by at my local Guitar Center to check this out.
Thanks mate with that amasing precise and understandable description of the project.
Nice tutorial, but, I have a question: Is It possible to record the rhythm pattern into sequencer? Intro, Verse, Fill and Ending? Thanks
Nice One Roland! This Demo Was informative alot of Tech in one Device!
Excellent video, very clear and well presented. Plus I wish I could download the track!
aside from the usual pro's and con's of this keyboard, Absolute Music: I would just like to say that I really enjoyed your little "ditty" that you put together for this demonstration. It had a lot of nice kind of syncopated counter-melodies....very well done!
I have had the fantom for two months and i dont think ive explored 1% of what it has to offer. It's ridiculous as a matter of fact its ridonkulous. Great demo man, thanks.
I think I could spend a whole decade composing with a Fantom and I wouldn't get tired xD
Such an amazing workstation synth. Best ever. Can't wait to get one.
Except... except... except... no audio clips in those loops... can’t control external midi gear from clip midi either from what I understand... and no multi-sampling for your own sounds!
Its sequencer is basic...No real Sampler...No Audio tracks....you are far better off with a Fantom X or G...its just a Roland FA with more external controllers and 3 times the price
@@justaname1862 yep... just got my Fantom G! Congrats Roland on selling me on the one true workstation! Too bad it’s ten years old and not your new one! Hehe.
EDub Roland has already said they will be adding features for years to come through software updates. They've already released 15 sound expansions and a few more features through updates. There is a ton of reserve power under the hood so it's only going to get better. So far, they're keeping their word. I do own the Fantom 6.
@@anthonynewcomb1069 I'll believe it when I see it. You should buy gear based on what it can do at the time of release not on a "promise" from what they may deliver. Otherwise, you will set yourself up for disappointment; on the other hand, it is good they have released updates. But Roland needs convince people like me that they will continue to support their products consistently over time like Yamaha has done with its Motif XF updates in the past.
BEAUTIFUL DEMONSTRATION. IN DEPTH AND VERY UNDERSTANDABLE. ..
Great job on explaining it, very patient thank you
This key board work station is awsome!
Brilliant! Awesome tutorial! Yes, keys are very noisy though. I guess gotta used to it. Just one “not-so-great” feature of my Fantom 7.
Just got one, seeing it in action is better than a manual. Thanks.
Nice. Put it out simple and straight. These workstations used to intimidate with steep learning curves. Now its simple even for amateurs trying to express their musical ideas. Was looking at MoDX to replace my now truly dead korgTR but the Fantom looks more friendly
Good demo....needs a piano roll editor in pattern mode, can’t believe it was left out, and can you show us how to overdub in group and song mode. Only had it a couple weeks anyway thanks look forward to seeing more.
Nice little tune :) I hope you finished the composition and made it into a full song :)
Great walkthrough of the Fantom sequencer. How does one change the tempo within the same song, nothing in the manual on this I don’t believe? I have managed to slave the Fantom using MTC in Logic Pro X sending MTC to change the tempo but live on stage this is not so practical. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Does anyone know how to change the default record options? I.e. make it so I don't have to change quantization and count in every single time?
Change it to "wait note"....but its not a full blown sequencer.
Great demo. thanks a lot.
Can I trigger clips live using the pads on the right?
I learn so much from Kurt Cobain today. Thank you
amazing music. amazing sound. But I still think that for music production we need the computer.
Man that is NICE> How things have moved on from my Yamaha PSR 4500.
I love there's a PANIC button :)
Thank you very much. I have a fantom 8. I copied this video step by step. Very useful to make song for me. Nice song, good video.
Great song👏 ..(Did you finish it?).. If yes were can I stream or purchase and download?☺️
Thanx, just what I needed!
Do anyone know how to transpose the whole ppattern(besides drums)? I want to hear same pattern in diffrent octaves
Can you edit a patch rather than have to re-record it?
Great video.. ive just purchased the new Fantom 06.. which is basically the same synth... and ive been struggling with the sequencer, but these videos for the older flagship Fantom are a big help.. but can you guys at Roland write better manuals by including mini tutorials in them... Thanks Andy 👍
I was trying to understand the beginning. How do you create or find the empty pattern where you start? (For me it's my first week with this instrument so... ) 🎶🙋♂️
@ Absolute Music Sequencer realization in Fantom much much better then in Yamaha Montage/MODX, I guess. But what about transitions between songs parts like uplifters and downlifters? How can I add it?
If you have the Fantom G back home I dont think you need this thing. But I must confess that the TR-sequenser seems really cool.
Thank you for sharing this video I so want this some day but the price Wooooo
Mais um importante tutorial da Roland no Brasil em inglês! É só pra inglês ver né!...
What about groove templates for the drum - no one wants fixed robotic velocity?
Does Fantom 6 have RPS function which triggers sequencer patterns when the pads are pressed ?
I didn't find it in the user manual. It was available on Fantom X & Fantom G.
Could you please write descriptions how ASC and sequenser work like on these machine. Roland. Cause im going to buy it. Thanks wery much.
Very good demo indeed. Makes me quite interested in the Fantom. Seems easy and tons of fun to work with. Can anyone explain to me one thing though: what is a scene?!?
Great clip. Can you use it with odd time signatures?
Sold.
I'll buy one...once I'm able to convince my wife that I need another keyboard.
Would you midi this to the fantom g8?
Is it possible to graphically view how a VA waveform is changed?
Nice demo, can you re-trigger using a different chord so it will play using the chord you played..
Cam I play my vst with the fantom and if so how?
can you explain to me how to import a midi file into roland fantom 6
Does it has a piano roll editor and step recording?
I strongly believe there needs to be an option to change the default record settings. It is driving me crazy having to change to 1 bar count in and mix and loop every single time.
Roland workflow is ... Unique !!
That's exactly what I was thinking.. to go from a triton to this.. Is like learning a whole new language.. But I have to say I am intrigued..
Can I export a pattern to my PC directly in WAV format?
How to work with odd beat .. like 5-4, 7-4, 9-4, 11-4 or 6-8
Thank you for the good video .Very helpful for when I get the Fantom .I like to use Native instruments Session Strings pro 2 .Specifically the articulations .Does the Fantom have articulations for strings ? Would I have to sample the strings and use them via the sampler ? Would I be able to use a stylus pen on the screen instead of my fingers ?
You CANT sample to the Keyboard...only to a pad (which is not even touch sensative) the New Fantom doesnt have a real sampler...its like the FA series...just 3 times the price. I have researched the hell out of the new Fantom...and unless Roland do a HUGE software upgrade its a Fail as a workstation...it doesnt even have a proper sequencer either....and NO Audio trackx.
Just Aname do you know wich keyboard actually on the market can sample to the keyboard keys?
Mark QUAVERTUNE
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your usage, but you can easily control and play plugins (also while playing internal sounds at the same time). In midi out mode for a zone, it acts just like a high quality midi controller you'd use with plugins. The versatility is crazy good.
Hi never had a synth but the Fantom has really caught my eye. Can you advise whether you can create a backing accompaniment and then change chords whilst playing like you would on a tradition home keyboard as such?
Its not an arranger keyboard....which is what your looking for...so....no you cant do it...have a look at some Casios or PSR Yamaha's
Or Korg PA series keyboards. I personally feel Korg makes better keyboards than Roland and Yamaha. Just my opinion
Hi Andy.. wondering why you have to create groups.. are the A-H not already groups... I guess of you wanted only certain loops of the entire row (A-H) then that would be neccessary?
Hi, thanks for the answer.
Thank you for this vigeo
Is this exactly like the Fantom 0 series sequencer?
My question is: After I have wrote and saved a Song, can I play a synth part IN REAL TIME together with It? Thank you very much!
Great Video! i like it!
great tutorial well done in a way to understand how to create a song...I really enjoyed watching this ........this new Fantom is a game changer. thanx so much
is this better than montage V3.0?
What better fantom X ,or fantom G6?
Thank you good job
Does Roland offer an 88 key workstation with built in speakers? If not, maybe a 76 key? Thanks
Thanks demo so clear
Can you assign your own chords to the pads, only then I will replace my Korg M3
Nice keyboard :)
Bro!! Sick!!
yep. love it
Fantastic
very nice demo
Does this machine have a song Bank... Dedicated memory to store all the songs you've created?
nice tut. why does that copy/paste take that long?
awesome thanks
ROLAND FANTOM SÜPER FANTASTIC 👌👌👌👌👌👌
FANTOM is POWER!
When Roland will make a less expansive version of phantom, like modx and montage?
Roland rules! The first Roland synth that I had was a JV1080 of course! :) Then a XV3080, XV5080 and so on! Fantom has a super sound!
This Roland is awesome for me. This would make it easier for me to compose songs in full. I wouldn't need to use Audacity to stick the pieces together. Only
how to record and save to disk and then burn to CD ?
I believe the built in sampler will allow you to record but I’m not exactly sure how long your samples can be but I have certainly recorded 30 second snippets onto a usb
Keyboards like these usually output audio over usb, so you only need to record that audio source into your favourite audio editor.
A M A Z I N G !!
F A N T A S T I C O !
Wow! Nice
Big shared big like 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Andrew Pimblott : Aaand I'm going to put some hi hats - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Very nice .
You can get a used Fantom G678 for a third of the price and have a more complete feature set without the need to buy a Mac with Logic. Roland (Korg, Yamaha) should sell products that are finished, not some intermediaries they might drop during develoment.
Yep I actually went with a G. Except it cost 2/3 the price of one of these, not one third! :) seems like 88 keys are bountiful but 61 and the 73 keys especially are rare.
you have got it spot on...a "Workstation" should have everything in one box....not relie on $$$ of outboard gear to create one..Geez $6000.00 and it doesnt even have a real sampler !!!!!
@@justaname1862 it doesn't even have a real sampler? wut ? oh jesus
@@RUclipsSupportTeams Yes...no real sampler...you can sample to a pad but you cant take a sample and create a patch on the keyboard...useless...EVERY Workstation has had a sampler since the 90s...and they have taken it out...and want you to pay $6000.00....they have taken sooooo many things off this New one....there isnt even a Linear Sequencer on it...very dissapointing
Polyphony is 256 on this, I am guessing that is some of the cost.
Exceptional.
Can anyone help me to buy this ☹️☹️
The confirmation screen seems to be annoying.
Éso fue en modo "pattern" y cómo se hace en modo "Song" ?
Great 👍🏼
Very useful
please give basic classes for workstation
Awesome
