Guys - I hope this is obvious, but it’s a clip from a movie. That is Emmy and Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men and Handmaid’s Tale fame fronting the band, not me. In the movie, there are reasons the performance is not a measured demonstration of guitar virtuosity… The negative comments are unintentionally funny but misplaced
Yes - this is a pub band cover version, but a very decent version. It certainly misses the more sophisticated guitar work, but I think the female vocal adds a more guttural, visceral quality that the original somewhat lacks. Women are generally much better at emoting about relationships then men. I saw The Only Ones performing this on "Later with Jools Holland" a few years ago, and Peter Perrett sadly now sounds like one of the Daleks on Dr Who.
I like this - it's a solid, 'bare bones' performance that shows how effective a four chord song can be, and I believe that those who denigrate it are being unfair. It can never touch the original - John Perry's guitar (particularly the intro) elevated it to another level altogether, but while there's nothing memorable about this, there's also nothing wrong with it. And it still pisses all over Blink 182's generic, over-produced version.
It's just you. It's nowhere near it. Incapable of a proper intro and the guitar solo. Almost as bad as the Blink 182 effort. Nope, nothing touches the Only Ones.
No. The director, surprisingly, said that the film was largely inspired by the Guns N Roses reunion and based the dynamic between Moss' character Becky and Agnyss Deiyn's charcter Mariel on the relationship between Axl Rose and Slash. In some ways the character is like Courtney Love, but in other ways very different. I think she's an amalgam of different people but mostly comes off as her own, original character. If she was actually Courtney her makeup would be smeared, she'd have her foot propped up on her amp, and would probably flash her tits at some point.
@@tenenieldjoandthenightsist5109 You taught yourself in 2 minutes so did they by the sound of it. But I was referring to the solos in this song which are great and which they had not learned.
Crap, the intro is a big part of the song and you do not play it, it is not like it is even hard.. You also do not hit the right notes and are at times out of key...Sorry.
Love this song but notice the smear the guitarist gives the bass player ... I play bass and that nasty look given by the lead to bass...I is disheartening and hits both the bass and th drummer... I guess when are the front, face and lead guitar in the band you can every one shit .... on and off stage..

So, so good; thank you for posting!
This song ROCKS.
There was some really good songs in this. I love the opening scene where the band is clearly playing a club but the backstage is that of an arena
I'd buy a ticket for that concert! 😀
Love this cover
Masterpiece.
An enjoyable cover.
Great camera work
I love this cover
I LOVE IT DUDE!
nicelly done, would have loved to see 'Kim Shattuck do a cover

I think johnny thunders produced some of peter perrets songs
@@markwasthere part of a very similar ''set'',and, possibly similarly underrated
No version that I've heard betters the1978 original by The Only Ones.

Ahhh Cara Delevigne in a movie with two of her exes, Ashley and Amber. Iconic in a way
They're all gross
YOU ROCK OFFRED!!!!
Her name is June!!!
I think it’s Becky, but I can’t remember her last name. Oh well, it’s Becky Something

Kurt Cpbain himself, looking down from heaven said....this ROCKS!!!!
@Greg Loya Seeing as the song originally came out in 1975, I very much doubt it.
Is it just me or is this the best version ever
no

@@gogs2222 Actually Blinks cover is lightyears ahead of the slow and boring orginal.
@@NakedSnake85 blink have to be the worst band on this planet
It’s just you.
Where the fuck is the lead guitar
It sounds like basket case by green day
It sounds like the Only Ones - Another Girl Another planet - Which is exactly what it is..
She's supposed to be courtney love right?
They skirt the question when asked in the press, but seems pretty clear she’s a big influence

Nope
Kind of embarrassing
Now go home and learn the guitar solos 😩
I taught myself this song on guitar in 2 mins. Its 4 chords

JFC, it's nothing without the guitar solo. God, that could have been great. What a waste.

Dude, did you watch the movie? The point is that she’s washed up and can’t perform as well as she used to
@@samriley9344 No I just watched this song as a stand alone.
Oh dear, another great song utterly destroyed by some bang average cover band.
Blink 182 does a better cover
Whilst the Only Ones do it best of all...
