You were also much younger experiencing panic and drugs in the beginnings. Hell I don't like anything outside of family like I did in my 20s. It's called getting old and dull
Jimmy is technically better than Mikey. Shit, Jimmy is technically better than Garcia was. But technical playing is not what rock and roll is about. I love Jimmy, he's my favorite living guitarist, but he will never fit this band the way Mikey did. Mikey was Widespread Panic. That's not a knock on Jimmy, it just is what it is.
Jimmy still plays with soul though, thankfully he’s not one of those 100% technical 0% soul players. I get where you’re coming from though. Doesn’t fit like Mikey but probably fits as well as any living guitar player. And I think it’s ok when a new player in a band brings a new element instead of just replicating the last player. Brent mydland is a perfect example.
I remember these days somewhat, I def. remember the JB haircut. HA!!! Miss you Mikey
God bless you Michael Houser :angel
chills...not played nearly enough, thx for the post
I don't get blown away like i use to when Mikey was on stage, not even close.
it's just not the same at all...No substitute for Mikey era panic.
