4:34 Nobody talks about this but Mac Jones had a top 10 OL and a top 15 WR room paired with a top 10 defense, that's the massive reason why Mac Jones had a historic rookie year that sent the Pats to the playoffs. Mac Jones did worse in his 3rd year with the Pats than Drake Maye did with the Pats this year. When the talent left in 2022-2023 that's when Mac Jones was exposed as being an untalented system qb. A bad record for a first-year coach is fine if the team shows flashes of promise and has players improving throughout the season. We had nothing at all to point to as a sign of coaching success this season.
Georgia WR Ladd McConkey was available for the Patriots to draft early in the 2nd round (pick 34), and Patriots needed a wide receiver. but rather than take the obvious pick and second round steal, they traded it to San Diego for a draft pick 3 picks later. San Diego got McConkey and Patriots selected Polk, who's been so bad that he's has already washed out. I'd fire Mayo and Wolf for that alone.

They're in a great spot. The top two HC candidates on the market want to coach in NE. I'm sure every other team with a vacancy envies the leverage we have in that regard.
@RyanDemers-lr3jb I understand what you're saying, but if Maye doesn't have any legit targets to throw to then his time is being wasted. No QB wants to wait for his O-line to be able to keep him upright if he doesn't have anyone worth throwing the ball to...
as a Pats fan willing to give him a chance, he was promoted too quickly. I still think he can salvage his career as a coach but perhaps he should go be a DC at some college for a couple years before trying the NFL again or go get mentored under someone else.
This seems like a sanity check finally.... Why they hired Mayo is somewhat of a mystery and it's similar to BB thinking Patricia and Judge could be an effective Offensive Coordinator team. I'd be happy with Vrabel or Johnson, maybe leaning towards Johnson a tiny bit. If its Vrabel, I'd be happy to see McDaniels come back as well. I just hope they get the position coaches right, that's been a serious disappointment the last few years.
As a pats fan as long as it’s Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson I think we’ll be fine. Drake Maye is going to be a star so no matter what we’ll be fine. We just needed a coach

I hope the pats get will Campbell. I think he’ll bring a mentality that the pats o-line needs. Him and Drake maye could be cornerstones for the next chapter of New England offense.
@ finding a good receiver is much easier than finding a good tackle. Plenty of the best receivers right now weren’t first round picks, but the same can’t be said about good o lineman. Hitting on o-line right now is essential to Drake maye being able to develop his reads and not have to run as much and minimize injury risk. Tetaroia is a beast, but we could draft tre Harris in the 2nd or 3rd round who is also a 6’5” demon out of Ole Miss. Receivers will always be available.
Ben Johnson isn't the answer. The Pats need to do what Detroit did. Get an inspirational, player friendly coach and hopefully grab a nerdy guru OC, preferably a McVay disciple to unlock Drake Maye. I get it, Kraft is advanced in age, and he wants to see the Patriots be competitive again before the inevitable, but being so trigger-happy when one is not a miracle worker is a bad look for any potential HC candidates. Plus, with Antonio Pierce having served his pink slip at the time of this comment, Vrabel's services may not be guaranteed, now that another front has opened up. Both Tom Brady and Richard Seymour have ownership stakes with the Raiders, both played together with Vrabel, and with Brady being more involved in the next HC hire, Vrabel may very well choose to head to Vegas and join forces with his former teammates instead. Kraft really needs to sweeten the deal if he wants to secure Vrabel's services. Otherwise, good luck finding that "miracle worker" who can turn a tanking team into a Super Bowl contender overnight.
