I'm from Argentina and born in 1989. However i have always had a huge attraction for the music that came out of Manchester (don't know why). I dig most bands from there, from stone roses and primal scream, FSOL, 808 state to oasis. Congratulations for the good taste you once had. Now, build a fucking time machine. Cheers.
It'd never work again mate, the hac or dome or the dawn raids at blackburn.. It was right place at the right time, and we were lucky enough to live it. I still love my music, from techno to anything now. I hear what your saying but im glad it was a unique place at a time when we just embraced this music.
Loved the early 90s. Started clubbing in 93 in London. SW1 club. It’s hard to describe it all if you never lived it. It was just magical. There was no internet back then like we know it now so everything seemed simple and connected. Drugs were amazing. You could smoke in clubs. The music was orgasmic. The 90s were magical time’s. Today I’m 44 and I really do not like the world. Technology has its benefits...I mean I can sit here now and reminisce the old days by watching videos like these but I long to go back to a time like this and I know it will never happen 😫
It's possible to recreate this right down to the fine details, the music hasn't died and it's still out there on vinyl, however it's the vibe that is lost because the people who were there are now in their late 40s early 50s, the younger generation wouldn't appreciate it. It's best to leave it in the past as memories and videos like this.
the younger generation would appreciate it. house music and techno are having a huge ressurgence and even if it wasn't, subcultures based on youth are always alive. i'm 24 years old from brazil, the club scene is absolutely huge with great music and people of all ages going.
I used to go up on the balcony and look at my reflection in the DJ booth. It had mirrors I remember. I used to check how out of it I looked lol. My wife is only 28, im 45. I was 19 in 89 and ive often told her about the Hass and clubbing. Shes very envious as I sometimes play old Hass sets in the car. Happy days, never to be repeated and I mean never. forget reunion nights bah!
someone should build it again an exact replica of the original club but you'll never replicate the music and the people of that magical time luckily I was 21 in 1989 so I saw the whole thing through to about 1998 what a time 😊
Well, the closest thing to the Hacienda in my hometown is a school building that looks a lot like the club on the outside, but it's yellow instead. We're far from recreating it properly (clubbing sucks where I live) 😂😂😂
This is the honest truth; I am from Massachusettes, I'm 53 and just discovered OASIS music in 2011. When Noel and Liam talked about this place, I had almost exact visions in my dreams of what it would look like and in my dreams I was always standing at a bar looking out at people dancing, I don't dance but like watching. All the pics and footage on u-tube looks like my dreams.
Liam's a bit of a hypocrit when it came to the Hac, he always slated it but rated it when it'd get him kudos. Noel never shied away from calling it "Dalek music" but loved taking fuck tonnes of drugs and having it in there like there wasn't gonna be a tomorrow
Liam is full of shit.. This will sound like bull, but its absolute straight up 100 percent true.. My best pal's younger brother went to school with liam, and we used to see him every week in yates wine bar in fallowfield before we went to the hacienda or, to the thunderdome on a saturday night.. so one saturday early 1990 if i remember he and a few others came with us to the thunderdome (oldham road/miles platting), and it was different from the hac in the fact the hac was quite refined and clued up and us lot in there , we we always knew that it was special.. the dome was just complete chaos, a disused bingo hall that had a capcity of maybe a 1000 kids, and had double that, it rained sweat for fucks sake..it was dirty gritty and beautiful... So yeah, liam comes up there with us, and to cut my usually long storys, short,. He lasted about 20 minutes in the thunderdome before he said, 'I can't handle it in here, its too mad'.. So ......bye then... He should get no credit for being part of the acid house scene, because he wasn't.. I always wondered why he had a little bunch of suck ups around him in yates... when he hit the big time, i just thought, thats that prick who folded and ran off.... oasis were ok, but manchester to me is more joy division or the smiths or the stone roses... oh and acid house...
ev3nflow the dome was something else completely eh brother you had to be of a certain mindset to enjoy it 😉 everything starts with a E but window panes made it clearer Hahaha

Don’t go to a rave or any big nightclub without a few barneys because if you don’t have any you will have a shit night And you end up being the only person there that’s drunk
I remember my dad taking me around this place when it was a boat showroom, just daydreaming about boats he'd never be able to buy. Ayacht showroom nowhere near the sea, only in Manchester. Little did I know I'd be back there in my mid teens when it opened as The Hacienda. It was usually empty when we started going and hence NO atmosphere but was always full when decent bands played like Birthday Party, Cocteau Twins , Smiths etc . Haslam did a great job on Thursday night club nights but the house nights were utterly boring unless of course you were off your tits, hence why all the squares and scallies moved in toward the end of the 80's.
