    Excellent video, to show the detail on a camera isn't easy and you have made it very straight forward. Just completed the task exactly as shown. Thanks.

    Good job mate. Modern cars are so hard to work on. Back in the day the thermostat housing was located on top of the cylinder head. About a 30 minute task for gasket/thermostat replacement. I have the MK7 1.6 Sigma engine in my wife's Fiesta. It's a good idea to keep the coolant filler cap off and run the cars heater on full to clear any air bubbles in the system. That's how they did it at the Ford dealership. Also, use the Ford coolant that's specific for your engine - it may cost a bit more but overall that doesn't matter as it will fully protect your cooling system.

      Thanks man, and yes they are a pain to work on, I used to work on the old Kent Crossflow engines in Formula Fords and they were much easier to work on. Right after this video I had to drive it straight away, I had a call to an emergency, but thankfully this system bled any bubbles its self, all I did was keep an eye in the water level until it no longer dropped. and for the type of coolant, it doesn't really matter where or what make it is, also as you replace it when it's about to go past the date on the bottle than your alright, but any way thanks for watching the video

    Good job. I'm doing this now on a Mk6.5 Fiesta tdci and the stat is in the same position on your newer Fiesta.
    I've decided to go a little bit further and do a full drain/flush and refill of the radiator, engine block, heater core and all coolant hoses.
    I would have tightened those thermostat housing screws to the correct torque with a torque wrench though.

    You don’t need to take all the pipes of the thermostat simply undo the 4 8mm bolts and just unclip the black plastic pipe only pull the thermostat towards you pull the old gasket of put new one on run your finger round it then 4 bolts back in push plastic pipe on that’s it then put battery tray assembly back job done

      If not that then maybe from a different angle

Think you have likely similar if not same engine as mine 1.6 tdci cheers mucka

      Hahhaha thats alright, glad to help. I didn't have any problems with the cars stereo and phone system, just had to re do clock and it was okay. I think the 1.6 is the same or is very similar to my 1.5

    You have used the wrong coolant and you must change it for the pink Ford one If you don't you will have problems with coolers etc due to the metals used in the engine but apart from that you did a good job

  • @johnadams1552
    @johnadams1552 2 года назад +1

    Wonderful video which encouraged me to successfully do the job myself, thank you. However, why did you then use the WRONG anti-freeze to refill the system ? It is critical that you ONLY use Ford Super Plus Premium anti-freeze in these engines, and there is no equivalent as far as I'm aware.

      The Fiesta only requires coolant with the Ford WSS-M97B44-D certification according to the Fiesta's owner's manual. No need to go full official ^^

    I don't understand. Some thermostat housing located on the alternator. And this one is just at the battery.
    I need to replace one for a 1.6tdci 90hp mk7

    • @CrossfireStudios
      @CrossfireStudios  2 года назад

      Ahh okay, for the 1.6 tdci they might of moved the location of the Thermostat because its a different engine set up, I.e different head (8 Valve or 16 Valve)

      @@CrossfireStudios Hey, it was located the same as this video. Thanks! It was the car of my sister in law. Man what a sh.tty car. I never loved fords. But this one takes the cake. I started working on it at 8 in the morning. And around afternoon i was done. But then i had engine fault code. And the turbo wasn't working anymore and the car won't start at first. When i switched the key to the ignition position, i got a short circuit somewhere. So i dissambled almost everything again. Sanded the negative cable for a good GND. And then it was starting luckily. No fuses where burnt.
      I have no Delphi scantool on my laptop. So i called a garage owner what was open on sunday. He scanned the car for me. And after some searching he found that there was a cable on the turbo not plugged -_-
      I still feel my back hurt from all that stupid work.
      I said to my sister in law, just buy a volkswagen polo for that money. Not complicated to work on. And i have vagcom on my laptop, wich makes it a lot easier to work on. I always work on my own audi a6 and my wifes Golf mk7 tdi. Never had been this kind of weird issues working on it myself.
      freakin ford that cracks and makes all noises like a old women. For a car from 2010.
      It only has 125 000km. But feels like half a milion.

    Very brave using axle stands on the thin sills, christ. Could see the car moving around when you was jacking the other side.
    You have a fat chassis rail there that'd fit nicely in the axle stand
