I read that the "strange thing" at the bottom of the musette is design to carry a rifle grenade like the APAV40 (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APAV40 or inapcache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/afghan_09_29_10/a09_25205645.jpg ) But I am not sure I never had the opportunity to use this kind of grenade when I was in the army ( I had the Musette F1 model at this time).
9:08 I don't know if anybody's mentioned it here but that "strange thing" is for carrying an APAV40 rifle grenade...European armies still had a hard-on for rifle grenades lonnng after the USA had developed the M-79 and M-203...
I was looking for some ASMR/relaxing hiking video and I stumbled on this one. It's not really ASMR, but since you're showcasing the "Musette F2"... This is the F2 day pack (day pack == "musette" in french military terminology), issued from the 90's to the late 2K's. For 2 or 3 days autonomy or cold environments, there are bigger packs called "Sac F2" with volume about 70 liters. I trained with their "F1" very similar predecessors in the 80's. The "strange thing" @ 9:10 is for a rifle grenade. You can reuse it to hold a camera triplod. The other bottom straps are for a poncho.
Wow !...that looks very well made....similar in size to the Italian alpine ruck...perfect for your environment and just a solid day pack...thanks John...woods
It does seem to be made well. The only thing it might need is drain holes in the bottom of the pack. I noticed that while I was editing the video. But that's a easy fix if I want to add them. Thanks for watching another one Woods!
I always find your videos well done and quite relaxing. Thank you for taking the time to show us your neck of the woods and the details you provide on your equipment and experiences.
Nice pack. I can see it being quite versatile as a day or overnighter. I like the features. Thanks for suffering the mosquitos to make the video and thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much for watching and for your comment! The mosquitoes had been a lot worse when there was more standing water. They like to bite when I start filming.
Yeah. Lol. I know. I hate the feeling of that spray on me. I was thinking if I could wrap up the filming quick and get moving again I wouldn't need that stinky stuff. I almost used it. Thanks for watching!
Have one and the F1 as well. Both older surplus with canvas webbing and metal hardware. As long as you dont overload, the shoulder straps won't bite. I bike alot and wet weather not a problem, just insert a plastic bag inside for peace of mind. Upper& lower lashings handy for external gear
Thanks very Scout! So far I'm enjoying the canteen set. I really like having the drinking cup, canteen, and the crusader cup all in one compact package. Great set!
Love my little french pack, The straps on the bottom are for your poncho and radio battery, (this is what I've been told) , see the two buckels at the top of the pack, you can put the straps for the lid threw them which doubles the capacity of the bag, , great little bag , Thanks for the vid and take care
Bottom straps are for poncho and riffle grenade ( the one with pouch ). On top is for sniper carpet ( optionnal ) . There is other various with metal clip and/or biggest shoulder straps ( more confortable if you wear weight).
